Just bought this camera in 2024 and it is STILL top notch. A lot of the features are the same as more recently released cameras at a fraction of the cost.
16 MP fastest shutter speed 1/4000, 83x (2000mm equivalent) optical zoom, 300 shots per battery charge , 7 fps burst rate at full resolution, 18 scene modes including timelapse, bird-watching, easy panorama and moon shot, GPS, etc. Cons: 1) Most glaring flaw with this lens is how much flare it suffers from because there is no lens hood and the front element is not recessed. 2) Macro for photos from 1.5 cm, the image edges are blurry. 3) JPEG format(no RAW available) 4) Long shutter lag and lazy zoom speed is a real drag. This doesn’t do well for quick-moving subjects, hence for moving sports or moving wildlife.
Thank you for your honesty I have been watching these reviews for a while from different people and not one of them except you pointed out that at full zoomthe image is soft. I'm watching p900 reviews because I am considering the new p1000. But if it's as soft as the 900 at full Zoom I don't think so
I am very interested in manual focus LOCK in video mode. What does the Wi Fi control, exactly? Can I run it from my laptop? For time-laps, will it do 2 or 5 fps? I would like to see some low-light nature video.
Hey would be grateful if you can help me out with the following How is the image quality compared to Canon PowerShot SX60 ? And overall comparison with the same? nice review !
just was watching ure vid here, and was serprise wen i seen that SLR hut site just bought the p900........ and i subscribed to your channel great job m8
I've seen it, but wasn't satisfied enough with the Low-light review. The samples and their scrutinizing weren't sufficient enough. Would you mind uploading another video, deeming about this facet?
Would you consider doing a review / comparison between the Sony HX 400V vs the Nikon P900 for us please...? Would greatly appreciate it... Thank you for this video...
Just got mine yesterday... IDK about love! But I'm catching feelings already.. I love getting new stuff like this and just going at it without reading instructions. I hate having to count on instructions but sometimes I have to give in. That's the best part of getting something new like this. I could sit there for hours and figure s*** out and have fun at the same time
Also the reason is; with APS-C size of sensors the size of Zoom lenses have to be really really big if you have to produce a zoom such as this. Bigger the zoom lenses in terms of the diameter of its objective lens, bigger is the size of the optical image that falls on the sensor. smaller the lenses smaller the optical image size...so this small 55 to 60mm diameter lenses produce optical image that is just right for a 1/2.3 size of sensors but not large enough for DSLR sensors.
Not same B700 is 20 MP and can record 4k video and much smaller.. B700 images will give better results after short processing in editig softwares. For same features of p900. on dslr you need to spend atleast 5 times its price including for the separate telescopic lens
some shop keeper told me their phone camera record better 4k videos than any of the bridge camera. so I believe it is not about sensors alone. raw images and 4 k videos makes no difference unless viewd in 4k screen
***** Hi I had the same question. I just finished watching the video and both times you mentioned that you could adjust the zoom to be used for manual focusing but you never demonstrated how.
Set PSAM wheel to A or S.Hit the MENU button, scroll down on the right to the SETUP icon hit okay. Scroll down to "Assign side zoom control", choose MF Manual Focus. Hit the MENU button again. Voila! Voila
Divorce business is where the money is at. Have you ever heard of a divorce photographer?. The one who captures that moment when a couple is either celebrating or crying. no, neither have I. meet the first divorce photographer in history. If you guys mentioned this reply in the comment section I will give you 20% off your first photo. One photo should be enough, so bam, there you go. Hit me up
+Jamaal Williams It zooms way further than a professional camera but the picture quality blows compared to a pro camera and lens. Low light is no good... you can't use it to take professional portraits as the aperture rating is too high. This camera is designed for those that travel or do not need professional results.. maybe shooting some out door sports like soccer. Your not gonna get great results there either unless you subject is not moving very much.
picture quality ?! what you are selling pro ress... photos ! Amateur Photographer?! pro res... photos it's for studios and por industri.... 2000mm lens not exist for pro res... doesn't matter which camera you own end quality --- the same !!!!! :-)
No exactly, but you could use an external one, the only downside is that you have to manage your files carefully and then edit the audio on the video file, which is quite a hassle.
For that you will need a better camera, but for general purpose for most people who don't know what 'raw' is, this an excellent camera at the price point. The better camera will also do 4K, which the P900 doesn't but again for most general use 1080P is just fine. And this camera does very good 1080P video.
Well, might as well go for Canon HS60. I feel, that I am limited to my guesstimate at the time of taking a photo without raw. On the other hand you can correct the most terrible exposure having raw and the lightroom.
I buy this camara like 2weeks ago...still a good camera ...i love it ... 👌🏽
Me too, some months ago! Very good!
P900 has unique feature: Moon, Star trails, 120FPS lightning mode and MF control @ 2000mm, it does have a slow photo transfer procedure using WMU app.
Best zooming camera

When I woke up this morning I had no idea I'd see someone zoom in on a horse's junk. That's the way life goes sometimes, I guess.

I own one and it is super fun to use with this zoom
Can you tell me how to completely factory reset this camera so i can start over. Got a great deal used but no books, thank you for your time.
thanks i have one and for my preference is great . i get to see the moon. which is an incredible lens
Thats one of the reasons I want one.... Every camera I've ever had gets closer and closer to taking a good pic of the moon but no dice yet 😂
1.Does the nikon coolpix p900 show date and time on video recordings?
2.Can you fit a bigger SD card to extend video recording time?
Charles Muller yes it Doe's show date time & location to if you like by satellite & I have a 250gb card in mine

Why i cant download videos from the camera to my mobile device, only pictures are downloadable, thanks
Beautiful dog!
how do u check available storage in the p900?
I am very interested in manual focus LOCK in video mode. What does the Wi Fi control, exactly? Can I run it from my laptop? For time-laps, will it do 2 or 5 fps?

I have a Canon Rebel but I think I'd like to have this for vacations and stuff like that.

Hello! On a rate of 1-10. how much would you give the camera for image quality? Same question for low-light and night photography.
I've seen it, but wasn't satisfied enough with the Low-light review. The samples and their scrutinizing weren't sufficient enough. Would you mind uploading another video, deeming about this facet?
No issues, and the link's much obliged. Do keep up the good work.
Cheers!
Can you tall me about it cost
Is there a shutter lag? How bad?
Would you consider doing a review / comparison between the Sony HX 400V vs the Nikon P900 for us please...? Would greatly appreciate it...
Thank you for this video...
***** Since last April...was hoping for an updated version by this time but have nothing except rumours of a HX500V...
Point taken...Thanks for your time...have a great time shooting with your P900...
how do i focus does the screen need to be closed
I can't get mine to focus when I'm zoomed all the way out or close to all the way out. Can anyone help?
Good video
Mostly a review on zoom and app....not much on function and settings of camera!!!
Could I attach this to a telescope and still be able to use the zoom in order to get extremely close moon shots?
+Dustin 3423 mate no need. with digital zoom youre bassically on the moon, scratch that, even with the optical you are. lol
+thehodge168 I know. This is incredible!
You could but because the lense comes out of the camera so it would be hard to keep it stable
I bouggt this as my starter camera.. I had cheapie ones before this 1
yours are clear cause of hd mines have slight blur because of normal fine and shaky protection
I love my camera!!!!
Just got mine yesterday... IDK about love! But I'm catching feelings already.. I love getting new stuff like this and just going at it without reading instructions. Hey Lon, could you please explain why these long zoom cameras cannot accommodate large sensors? Thanks
Also the reason is; with APS-C size of sensors the size of Zoom lenses have to be really really big if you have to produce a zoom such as this. #Lon.tv i need to buy extra battery for this camera..is it ok if i buy the cheap ones?what would you advic
Joana Medina stay away from cheap batteries
Sir plz suggest should we go for B700 or P900?
The Nikon p900 coolpix great camera
Anyone knows how this camera performs on long exposure? Does it have it?
which is better nikon b700 or nikon p900..??
B700 - family camera to Vlog camera ,
p900 - personal cam to spy cam
Not same B700 is 20 MP and can record 4k video and much smaller.. B700 images will give better results after short processing in editig softwares.

How did you set your side zoom buttons from zooming to manual focus.
***** Hi I had the same question. I just finished watching the video and both times you mentioned that you could adjust the zoom to be used for manual focusing but you never demonstrated how.
Hold your finger on the button on the left side then it will return to where you have it
Set PSAM wheel to A or S.Hit the MENU button, scroll down on the right to the SETUP icon hit okay.
Scroll down to "Assign side zoom control", choose MF Manual Focus.
Hit the MENU button again. Voila!
Voila
p mode is extremely bright

So if I want to buy a camera where I can upgrade the lenses to have a better zoom than this camera it would cost thousands of dollars?
Impossible in 2015 - 2017 later maybe by possible
R. Medelis What do you mean?
largest zoom ratio available today 2000mm ( Nikon's New Coolpix P900 )

No you cannot put this in the microwave.
No Hotshoe?
It's a point-and-shoot camera, so no. It's a really advanced point-and-shoot, but still not a DSLR.
nee-con not nye-con. please
if only this have the 1 inch sensor of the rx100. i wouldn't mind the extra price.
+Bryce William thanks!
i dont have sepecial effects like fisheye and miniature anymore
cant use bird mode cause pan dont work
cant use focus from the side
You have to set the "Slide" to MF (manual focus) from the setup menu.
@@candecarro thanks
Can anyone tell me if you can time lapse on this camera?
you can
No raw.
So what??
If you dont really care about post-pro, or quality photos in general ... not a big deal, I agree.
For that you will need a better camera, but for general purpose for most people who don't know what 'raw' is, this an excellent camera at the price point. The better camera will also do 4K, which the P900 doesn't but again for most general use 1080P is just fine. And this camera does very good 1080P video.
