Nice ! Brings back loads of memories I bought the identical IROC-Z new from David Penske Chevrolet in KOP Pa. It was a parade car for the Miss America Pageant in AC NJ in 1988. I changed out the wheels and steering wheel to Momo's. Absolutely had a blast with the car ! The four wheel disc kept the car from getting sguirrely under hard breaking. After the third time of it getting stolen I sold it. I would buy another today just haven't seen one clean enough !
The 88-90 wheels kinda grow on ya too with the right color combos……black ,tan interior gold pkg wheels look ahhsweet… burgundy and bright red look good with gold wheels…..I had a black 87 305/5speed,like this -blk interior, and the single stripe gold wheels..loved it,looked so good.
@@toddprater14 that was the car to have back then, it's also the car to have right now. If I worked on the team at GM that designed the 3rd gen, I would have done the George Jefferson strut all the way home the first day that car hit the showroom floor. Just a good looking car.
It’s cool to see how involved you are with this car!! I have just spent the last two years building my 92 RS 5 speed 305 Camaro My car was in need of a whole bunch of parts but I went a different direction. I did all the work on my Camaro Thank you for the video! I’m in SLC Utah
Great car! I do have to be that guy about GM convertibles ending in 69. There were 72 Skylark and Chevelle convertibles. There was a 76 Eldorado. GM built convertibles in the 70s.
Brautiful iroc and rare find.I have a 87 sport coupe with the crappy lg4 carb v8.there were 264 made and kind of rare.the 5sp tpi 5.0 combo 87 to 92 had hotter cam.all auto 5.0 tpi had detuned cam.i guess for gas milage or emission. 85 5.0 tpi only had the hot cam.
What a shame to have put all that into it and only drive it 100 miles and only take it to 1 show. Man I wouldn't be happy about selling it wother. Nice work, though!
Man that car is beautiful. Wife owned a ‘89 when I met her. Old girlfriend had the Indy edition. I can’t remember what year but it was beautiful too. I don’t know how you parted with it. How much did it go for? Also great job on restoration
then you never owned an 87 convertible with the 5.0 TPI and 5 speed. All sales literature clearly states that combo was 215 HP while the 700R was 185 HP. I had the same car in T-Tops and it too had the 215 HP and that was because it was 5.0/ 5 spd. This is part of the reason why I targeted and sought out this exact car. I believe this car will become a top 5 desired IROC as years go by.
What's cooler than a black IROC Convertible? Not much really. About 10 years ago I learned there are two different Convertibles, some cars have a 2 in the VIN. The cars with a 2 in the VIN have ASC numbers on the IROC dash emblem, I've only seen one in person but I know there's more out there. I'm pretty certain I still have pictures of that car, I had a chance to buy it but at the time I didn't know what it was.
@@danielfair4675 I know there’s a Pinocchio emoji after I said that comment. I was being sarcastic sorry about that. I wanted to know why they never made one. I’m from California and thought that only California couldn’t get them. The holy grail was in Nevada.
You aren’t even close. It sold for much more than that and that was almost 2 years ago. Today it would sell for nearly double your crazy appraisal. You should know more about what you speak before you speak
@@EsaCalien well it’s been repaint, nes fender,& hood, small motor, interior is so so, ,etc-it’s not a special car. Iv seen these a lot cleaner go on Barrett Jackson on the first day got 15-16

Wow! A comfortable and a manual! The buyer scored big time.
Nice.. a manual at that... I had an 89 when I was in high school, memories...
I really like the single line 85-87 wheels, more than the double line later years. I don't why but...

I thought ASC was the abreviation/acronym for American Sunroof Company.

You are 100% regret it, I sold mine in 1991,,,I had it when I was in my early 20s, now 56 and I still have dreams of still owning it and wake up sad!
Fantastic video. Lots of good information here!! How many miles were on the car?

Did you see the a/c belt is twisted

What did it sell for???
Is it for sale
My girlfriend's boyfriend? I pity the fool..
No they had the 5.7 convertible with the manual 5 speed. 🤥 how come they never made a fuel injection 5.7 with a manual.
GM never produced a 5.7 IROC with a manual for public sale.
