Oh man, I was looking for how to create dolby atmos with amp, my current amp doesn't support atmos so I would have to buy one for around 2/3 price of this whole setup. I think I am getting this one and keeping my old amp - will try to a) run them together - for example additional subwoofer b) run it just for the music with my columns and subwoofer so that I have two setups for different needs. . Or maybe this will be in our bedroom for some evening movies hmm hard to decide what will work when you have young kid. I really like that it has voice enhancement.
Thanks for the great review - tempted to buy this for A$1500 tomorrow but wanted to check if my intended setup would work. I've got a modernish PC and I plan on hooking it up to this soundbar directly via HDMI from the 3070 GPU and maxing out the audio (so far so good). Now, I have a decade old 55" Samsung TV (1080p 60Hz) that I plan to use as a dumb monitor, would the HDMI output of the soundbar provide the image signal to the TV (have never used arc before)? Thanks in advance.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I don't think that's going to work, as your PC will be thinking that the HDMI is trying to feed through a display signal too. When in reality it'll be used for audio only. If you're using with a PC, I'd highly suggest looking at soundbars designed for the PC, such as the Creative Katana V2.
To get around the 4K 120Hz thing, you can always use HDMI eARC and then connect the source to another input on the TV itself. What I figure the thought process was is that if someone owns a TV high-end enough to support 4K 120Hz, then it's pretty much guaranteed that it has full eARC support.
Sorry rather confused. HDMI 2.1 is what you're looking for, not eARC for 4k 120hz. Unfortunately, not all higher end TVs have the updated HDMI standard.

How about the Q990D 2024 vs the Creative SXFI CARRIER - Which Bass is loudest? I bought the SXFI CARRIER and the Bass is great. Interestingly the Bass on my SoundBlasterX Katana sounds louder. Maybe because of where the Katana Bass speaker is placed. The CARRIER I have it to the right of the TV setup and the Katana Soundbar is for my PC and the Bass Speaker is on the left facing me and it sounds better in this position vs to the right facing away.
@@TotallydubbedHD I'm thinking your talking about the Q990C. I just bought the SAMSUNG Q990D - IMPRESSIVE!. The CREATIVE SXFI CARRIER vs SAMSUNG Q990D - WINNER: SAMSUNG Q990D. The SXFI is good but no comparison to the Q990D. The Q990D worked straight out of the box - very impressive and that was before I linked it via Wifi. No problems with the Subwoofer and Rear Speakers connecting. Q990D 10/10 - SXFI 7/10. I think the US Version comes with a HDMI Cable but the UK Version does not.

JBL bar 1000 vs Samsung hw-q990c Which one is better for movies and music? I know that for music only, classic stereo would be better, but I cannot fit both... I can see both of those at almost same price currently.
I have the same problem ^^ I have noticed that mainly people compare q990 with JBL 1300, so regarding that, I would guess Samsung should be better than lower version of JBL. Those two things that still keep me from buying already is that those back speakers have to be connected to power all the time and Chromecast is missing in Samsung. So I will decide pure on music and movies experience if some would clear that out, which one is better
What is the story with Samsung now ? I mean I had the old Q90R Soundbar 7.1.4 and was harmen kardon / Samsung tech's.. these new ones seem to just be the only Samsung? Was the harmen kard been removed from the Samsung?
I was in my local store yesterday, and I did not find the sound very good. The surround sound was great but the sound was like not warm. Is there like a setting for better voices or is it just that I need to set the bass higher? Sorry i do not know much about this. Thanks in advance.

If I have a Samsung /LG supporting TV for the 2.1 HDMi, can I just put my PS5/Cable Box/ TV4k etc into the TV and then the TV output to the Soundbar so I don’t miss any features?
Sorry to disagree with you, but I haven't heard anything like a helicopter flying around me, I use to on my 5.1 system. Maybe because i don't use a Samsung TV. This bar just doesn't sound the same with another make of TV.
If i have an old samsung tv (2020) that doesn’t support dolby atmos, can i get dolby atmos from just streaming netflix directly for the tv app? since the tv is connected to the soundbar
Unfortunately not. If your TV, like mine, doesn't support it, then you'll need a 4K Blu-ray player or another source connected into the soundbar for you to get Atmos. The TV doesn't support it, but the soundbar does, if that makes sense?

Yet no 4K 120hz pass through which is pretty shocking in this day and age. You’d think that Samsung would be implementing this now more than ever when lots of gamers have PS5’s and Xbox Series X’s.
But can you hook up the Console straight into the TV and the sound bar into the e-arc hdmi port of the TV right? That way you still have 4k@120. Is that right?
@@MrLuizsaluti that's right, it's for those like me that don't have v2.1 on their TVs. Given the lifecycle of a soundbar is shorter than a TV, it's likely people will be buying the soundbar to pair with an older TV
Degradation? I presume you mean the soundstage? Effectively if you're placing them at the front you're getting an extra 6 drivers, but if that's what you're going to do, I'd save money and get the rear speaker-less system from Samsung instead or just know that you won't get that extra sound from the rear, filling your room.
@@TotallydubbedHD Thanks for the quick reply! Yup, that's what I figured. So it's not like they do any whizzbang trickery to fake a rear position of the speakers. Nothing beats having speakers physically to the rear. Given the layout of my room though, where the couch is against the rear wall, I intend to mount the rear speakers about 2m to the sides of the couch, facing inwards. I think I saw that configuration as being supported by the Q990C?
What movies actually take advantage of 11.4.1? Most sources including Netflix using Atmos uses Atmos 5.1? It seems a good soundbar that isn’t really properly utilised by using Al the channels efficiently. I’m thinking it just down mixed sounds into whatever channels so you lose the effects or the hight and side. Rear will be fine but then the extra channels in the rears height I can’t see how these work efficiently when a source like Dolby Atmos on Netflix is 5.1? Can someone please explain.
Many actually utilise full Atmos over Blu-ray. But over Netflix it would decode it and upmix it, as you pointed out. At least that's my understanding of how things like Netflix would work with such a system.

But most likely a full klipsch system will be placed in such room the day our basement i renovated.
Great price, and agreed on the differences there. The Samsung provides much better value for money.
Hello - anybody know the difference between Q995C and Q995D? Which is best 🤪
very minor differences. only noticeable upgrade with the D is hdmi 2.1 for 4k/120hz. basically only useful for gaming.
It should work, I use my 2010 Mac Mini like this. Mac to HDMI 1 on my 990B and eArc to my Samsung Q82C as I use the TV as my monitor, works fine..
Just ordered the Q990c for $700usd using my work perkspot discount. Can't wait
Enjoy!
Some of tvs can t send true dolby atmos via hdmi eARC, like in my case with samsung s95b and 4k 120 on the soundbar will be so hopefull

Purely bass wise I'd pick the Creative, but got everything else it would be the Samsung.
@@TotallydubbedHD I'm thinking your talking about the Q990C. I just bought the SAMSUNG Q990D - IMPRESSIVE!. The CREATIVE SXFI CARRIER vs SAMSUNG Q990D - WINNER: SAMSUNG Q990D. I have noticed that mainly people compare q990 with JBL 1300, so regarding that, I would guess Samsung should be better than lower version of JBL.

What movies actually take advantage of 11.4.1? Most sources including Netflix using Atmos uses Atmos 5.1?

I’m thinking it just down mixed sounds into whatever channels so you lose the effects or the hight and side. Rear will be fine but then the extra channels in the rears height I can’t see how these work efficiently when a source like Dolby Atmos on Netflix is 5.1? Can someone please explain.
Many actually utilise full Atmos over Blu-ray. But over Netflix it would decode it and upmix it, as you pointed out. At least that's my understanding of how things like Netflix would work with such a system.
