I can tell you as ex-cabin crew, you engineers were our heroes. They never get seen by pax. They assume it's all done by magic. They never think of the guys and girls behind the scenes unless they see them applying speed tape and then it gets UA-cam'd!! I was always the bain of the engineers lives putting the smallest cabin defect in the tech log. The number of sidewall florescent tubes those guys changed and dodgy seat recliners on F100s, BAe146s, F50s, A320s, B757s, DC-10s was unbelievable. From an ex-flyer, and on behalf of all those pax that think it's all done by elves in the middle of the night, thank you 😁
From what I see, your biggest job is diagnostics. I've been around a few mechanics and the really good ones save time by knowing where to look, almost instinctively. It's a pretty special skill, almost like a great doctor.
Question before going to school what kind of book do you recommend for me to read as an introduction to A&P?. I work at the stores for one of the legacy airlines
yes they do, the potable water system gets sterilized all the time.. check my video on that... the waste tank also gets a flushing on EVERY flight with disinfectants and cleaning agents via the LAV truck ( that's the blue juice)
Unfortunately I’m unable because I post on multiple platforms and most of the footage shot is with my phone and on site. I do apologize for the vertical format. I guess is more catering to the mobile phone users.
@@StigAviation Thanks for feedback. No worries at all. Me and my colleagues at Engineering Department of anoter airline across the world are enjoying and learning new things from your videos. Please keep up good work.
I have a question. You say that you guys in Maintenance do waaaaaayyy more than toilets and tires, well.... is it your department who cleans up big messes in the pax seating area, or do they have specialist teams who deal with that? The reason I ask, is that recently on a (redacted) flight, some pax found their seats covered in a previous flight's pax vomit. There are those who will say that any flight on (redacted) is the vomit comet, but seriously, it's not that often. Anyways, 2 women sort of declined to sit in un-cleaned vomit-drenched seats, and ended up being "kicked off the flight", (not making this up) for refusing to sit down and strap in. Other nearby pax vouched for the women, as the staff declared them rude, abusive, and no longer wanted on that plane, when in fact the women were nothing more than politely requesting that the seats be properly cleaned or they be seated elsewhere. Typical (redacted) BS, their flight attendants NEVER lie or anything. So, yeah. Whose job is it to cleanup the upchuck when that sort of thing happens? Never mind that it got missed on this airline (seems about right for them), I just wonder if you get stuck with nasty cleanups such as this.
This is an excellent question… ok there’s 2 parts to this.. if the mess is manageable to get cleaned and sanitized then the cleaning crew will do that. That’s their responsibility to clean the aircraft after every flight. NOW… if the seat is soiled beyond cleaning capabilities that’s when maintenance steps in. This is because now we have to remove and replace soiled and contaminated components from the aircraft. Example would be a brand new seat cover and cushion, new seat belts, new electronics (if they were contaminated and/or damaged by said fluids). Does that help with your question. And yes the passengers were in the right. They should have not been made to sit in a contaminated/biohazards area. Cabin crew should have known better. Said airline should take accountability for such actions and correct them immediately even if it causes a delay. My primary concern is always safety of the aircraft and my souls on board as a maintenance technician.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It truly means the world to me. I appreciate you being here
So there’s quite a bit of domestic/household stuff on aircraft - I appreciate your equal commitment to sorting out these problems.
My pleasure thank you for stopping by and learning martin
@@StigAviationyou are Amazing!!! I love your work and videos. I learned a lot Awesome 🎉❤🎉
lol it may cost 149 at a department store but this stuff is 5 figure prices from all the testing and certification
As an aircraft mechanic, that is the cleanest strainer I have ever seen. Most strainers I declogged are 20x dirtier. Good job mate!
indeed... we see some nasty stuff on aircraft... and thank you
Another great video, as usual. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
My pleasure! 🤙
You are doing a great job Stig appreciated very much
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!
Very good video, it's the little thing that are interesting. 👍🏴

Well said! yes a good mechanic is a troubleshooter...fixing is easy ... nuts and bolts...FINDING the problem is the real challenge
I love your "Stealthy" face cover. No need to explain. I totally get it !!
👍
Learning a lot from your videos. Please do more vids on ATA chapters. Thank you!
More to come!
You are the DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!
🤙🤙🤙
those airbus lav sink strainers are one of the more disgusting things to clean up on the aircraft. great vids btw.
100% agreed with you. Not fun cleaning those out. 😅 definitely double glove for that job.
Nice informative video keep it up
Thank you, Will do ... thank you for taking you time end watching

ASA prepare is a very good book if you want to get ahead, but everything will be provided to you at school.
Wow what u doing guys super amazing what did you study for this job bro ?
It's university study or Private institute or how
The studies that are required in the USA is called the airframe and power plant license. FAA certification. There’s schools just for that.
A license to LEARN how to fix them
Does the drains and black and gray tanks get sterilized ?
yes they do, the potable water system gets sterilized all the time.. check my video on that... the waste tank also gets a flushing on EVERY flight with disinfectants and cleaning agents via the LAV truck ( that's the blue juice)
Since you are not uploading these videos as shorts, may I kindly request you (of course if possible) to record horizontal?

Milk and orange juice down the galley sink… that’s interesting science
Yes, that’s very interesting science, and I do not want to do that. I’ve seen the results. 🤣
So you're a plumber as well 👌
Plumber, Mechanic, Carpenter, Electrician, Metalworker, Troubleshooter.... Aircraft Maintenance does it ALL ...We Fix ..You Fly
I hate working on those coffee makers 😂they are soo annoying lol
They ain’t so bad to remove and replace, but unclogging drains is a nightmare.
@@StigAviation well especially when the heaters go out omg lol
