@@JACKDAWFISH to my knowledge, this is only the 3rd time they’ve ran the LA Derby at this distance. Not trying to discount your statement, but I don’t think it’s saying much that he set the record. Being that some trainers are looking for distance to stretch their horses before the KYD, it will probably get broken again next year.
What makes this race so telling about epicenter's ability is Rosario hand rode him the whole way. Doubling and tripling up. Showed him the whip the last eight of a mile. Epicenter got the Juice...
2 of the last 3 Kentucky Derby winners came out of the Louisiana Derby. Granted neither actually crossed the finish line first but I would not toss any horse purely based on prepping in this race. In 2021 officially the top 2 finishers ran in the Louisina Derby. Good Luck!

Normally I toss out Derby horses coming from the Fair Grounds. I wonder when the last time a Derby winner came from this race.
