They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What may seem an eyesore to one person, just might be a beautiful masterpiece to another. There are places beloved by communities and protected in the hearts of those that hold their memories of its tattered hallways and decayed rooms dear. This is the way that we feel when we explore places that have been forgotten by time. Left to rot and decay and only holding the silent whispers of what once was. We know that there are people out there with malicious intent toward these places that we venture into. It saddens us when we see the filth and destruction they leave behind, but we want to make something very clear… We are explorers and lovers of history. We in no way, shape or form condone the criminal activities that take place in the historical decaying places that we document. Social media has brought many of these places to the limelight, but the intention is to show the beauty and mystery of abandonment. Not to invite trouble. Trouble will find its way on its own and to say that the peaceful documentation of these places leads to criminal activity, is mind blowing. We have met so many amazing fellow explorers in our travels and are so thankful and humbled by the positive responses we have received. We know that this type of exploration is not for everyone…many people don’t understand why we find such beauty in decay, we can only explain it as a beautiful journey into the past. We invite you to watch our explores and come along as we visit these amazing places. As for the criminal activity that occurs, those individuals are responsible for their own actions. It is a terrible part of our society, but reality, nonetheless. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for loving this location just as much as we do. We hope that through this video, the memories held within will remain.
Even though I was a child in the 1970s and have no connection to this part of New York, I am just fascinated by this era! It makes me sad for people (including me) who remember such a happy time in their lives, longing for the past.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Very well said. I love seeing beauty in decay and learning and wondering about the history and the past of the people and the buildings that once were. It is sad and tragic that so many people have no respect for the past or even present and willingly destroy these properties for no reason other than greed or amusement. Luckily there are people like you all who respect the past, present and future. And we thank you all for showing us and allowing us into your world.
Marcia Glickman thank you and it's funny you say that because we discussed the exact same thing!!! We said if there was a time machine we would want to go back in time to when Grossinger's was in full operation making families happy!!! :)
I just watched your whole Grossingers vintage series with my morning coffee and it was time very well spent. I love seeing old films of ordinary people. It is one of the things that instills a sense of life and warmth to the past. Buildings, walls, roads, artifacts and the other evidence of life remain for us to see and wonder about, but often the actual lives that existed within have faded into obscurity. You have just brought all of those people and that magical place back to life. Thank you Jen and Marcel for putting this up on UA-cam .
Yankee Clipper thank you for your kind words!! What you are saying is EXACTLY what we were hoping people would get from this footage!! It was a different time then and it's so refreshing to see such joy on everyone's faces!! We appreciate you watching!!! :)
Holy Cow!! Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor. Wow. 2 of my all time favorites. It's hard to believe how much the world has changed just since then...but what precious footage. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. You two are just awesome.
Offbeat Discoveries thank you!!! We couldn't believe how many celebrities were regulars at Grossinger's. I mean just in this video there were so many!! We appreciate that you guys are enjoying the footage and thank you guys for the kind words!!! We feel the same way about you two!!! :)
This is a gift you’ve given us...never been there, don’t know any of these folks...but the ⭐️JOY⭐️they apparently brought to so many, including famous faces, is incredible! Great share, Kids...a simpler, happier time. We need to remember that! 👍👏😊
Following The Agee's thank you so much!! We are so happy to bring this footage to anyone who is interested! As you can tell from the footage, Grossinger's played host to SO MANY amazing celebrities and icons! To see Eleanor Roosevelt was just unbelievable!! The dinner footage had some heavy hitters there like Liz Taylor, Eddie Fisher and Harry Belafonte! Some of the other guests and speakers were important too even though we didn't know who they were! We were hoping someone who watched the video could tell us some names!! Thank you guys for watching!!! :)
MAKES YA WANNA CRY WHEN YOU SEE HER WALK OUT OF COTTAGE IN BEGINNING ....VERY SAD .....SHES GONE ....COTTAGE AND GROSSINGERS GONE.....AND SO WILL ALL OF US ONE DAY SOON......JESUS SAID ALWAYS KEEP A TENDER HEART....DONT LET IT BECOME HARDENED
mark c thank you for saying that!! We know from past comments how you feel about these resorts in the Catskills especially Grossinger's! Yes Grossinger's is physically gone but it will live on in memory and in this video footage!!! :)
WELCOME...YOU SIR AND MAM ARE THE REAL HEROS IN WHATS LEFT OF THIS SHITTY COUNTRY GOING TO HELL ....YOU BOTH GOT HUGE HEARTS FOR THE HISTORY AND LONG GONE .....BUT NOT FORGOTTEN LIKE YOU SAY BY THE FEW ....AMEN ...GOD BLESS YOU BOTH ALWAYS AND PROTECT YOU BOTH..
Hey!! I went to a wedding at our Salvation Army church and when the groom 1st came in I yelled out;" It's still not to late to back out!" Everyone cracked up and the groom laughed. I told him I'm going to jump up and state, do you know you can save money with blah, blah... Even our Major performing the wedding cracked up. It was a beautiful wedding. You could feel 'love' in the room.
It's AMAZING Liz could get up wearing that pretty necklace.😉😙 "Use the the Force Liz." I just came here from watching 501 St Legion Star Wars vids. They do ALOT of charity work & visit lots of children & folks in hospitals. I hope YOU TWO AWSOME FOLKS are doing ok.💖
Thanks again for doing these videos. 😃 Nice to see Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher there, 😉 and of course Elizabeth Taylor. There used to be a photo of Tina Louise up among the many famous people pics in a "hallway of fame" but I had never seen any footage of her at Grossinger's till now.
MayTheForceBeWithYou.com thank you so much for watching and enjoying the footage!! We couldn't believe all the celebrities and icons we saw while viewing the footage for the very first time! LOVED Tina Louise as Ginger on Gilligan's Island!!! :)
This place means so much to us and we were so very happy to bring this whole series all of those who love nostalgia!! Thank you so much for watching and be sure to check out the others in the series when you get the time!❤️
Les Dabney thank you!!! When we first saw the footage we remember looking at each other and we both said..."OMG...that's Eleanor Roosevelt." She like Jennie Grossinger was an AMAZING woman!!! :)
I love your videos so Much !Brings back great memories.I have pictures of me as a !little girl there.me and a little boy who was also staying there got yelled at by Mrs grossing for running up and down the halls.also got picked up and brought on stage by a famous singer i wish I remembered his name.thanks for all these memories!
Jodie Lande thank you for this thoughtful comment! We love hearing stories of people that stayed at Grossinger's. We wish we could have seen it in it's heyday but it was still beautiful in it's decaying state!! :)
I spoke with a medium yesterday & his version to say what happens to when we die is like going into another mention, funny that's what I said before. I like to think that way too. Maybe in the folks who were in this video that might see with us now are still there having fun and it's still like we see it here in this video. Luved the music.
Eddie Fisher had a go to place to take his new brides. 😂 No, but seriously I love hearing and seeing anything about Grossingers and the other resorts in the Catskills. It’s so fascinating! And sad how they started closing up and becoming abandoned. I love seeing the actual footage like this and the abandoned footage of years gone by. It’s bittersweet. Thank you for sharing this amazing footage with us!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I came across this and other videos of Grossinger's during my research into the legendary Rocky Marciano of whom I am and always have been a huge fan in the world of boxing. I was aware that it was here where Charley Goldman kept Marciano isolated while training during his fighting career and that he trained in the Airport hangar. This is the only video I have found that provides footage of the great Marciano during training here. I wonder if any of the Hangar still remains. During my research I have become totally consumed by Grossingers and the vast scale of this resort which today lies in dereliction and like many others I can only try and imagine what it must have been like in bygone days. Thanks again and greetings from Ireland
Thank you for watching and commenting! Grossinger’s holds a special place in our hearts and it is so sad that it is totally gone now. We actually have 5 separate vintage videos from Grossinger’s that show all kinds of cool footage back in the day. We also have footage of our explore there if you are interested!

We are fascinated by this as well which is why we frequent that area! We just love it! :)
Sad to see that a place like this, were so many people have had happy times, doesn't exist anymore. That's the way of the world......
BorkumRiff it's such a shame! We both fell in love with the place!!

GhostCity Shelton If the dead are ghosts for the living, maybe the living appear as ghosts to the dead. Like in the film “The Others” 😉
GhostCity Shelton thank you for watching and for that observation!!! Very interesting!!! :)
From Hel that my friend is a very good point!!! :)
Eddie Fisher had a go to place to take his new brides. 😂

Does anyone recall Grossingers rye bread? Sold in the NY metro area years ago.
The days when people dressed like human beings and not rag dolls
AMEN to that!! It's disgusting to see today!
