CertBros, I am speechless, I don't know how to thank you,but in college these professors DO NOT explain lesson clear they want to feel important and smart, and not helping the students, If you ask them a question they tell you to go to book, CertBros thank you very much for short, smart and clear way explaining It, LOVE YOU.
I agree with you man. His numbers will increase as people studying networking find his videos like me. And then find his videos so well explained both graphically in presentation but oratory explained as well.
Man I just want to really say this video was BOSS! All your videos are also BOSS. This was one the most confusing as hell topics I’ve come across so far in all of VLANS. You did a super damn great job in not only simplifying and explaining all of this, but with very great graphic and animation so well convey and e plain this that I totally get it. Your oratory skills in explaining all of it is totally on point. Whatever your doing in life, I hope your doing well at it. But please for all your subscribers and everyone that will eventually find your videos, please please Keep Making These So Well Explained Networking Concept Videos. I don’t think any subscribers here will disagree with me in the slightest on that. Your explanation of even difficult to understand concepts are in essence Nuts & Bolts Total BOSS!
Wow! Thanks for the awesome feedback Ardent. I'm currently working hard on a lot more videos. You will see a lot of content on this channel in 2020! Thanks for the support.
I'm so glad I found these videos. It's nice to be able to understand a topic thoroughly. I thought I was just gonna be able to read and pass, but I found out that wasn't gonna happen. But these videos are so helpful. They make info clear, concise, and to the point. You guys rock!
Thanks John! You're right, reading the books is only half the battle. A good video course, labs and practice exams should get you to a pass in no time. Good luck! 👍
Rajeev Mishra So true as well. I’ve studied this topic several times and all to end in some confusion. Go to UA-cam batch many other lengthy videos to still remain somewhat unclear. Find his video here explaining same VTP and all the lightbulbs go AHA, I totally get it. I feel so much better now.
Thanks Cart.... I usually does not comment on youtube videos but after watching this video I ad comment because this is the best video I have ever seen on VLAN explianation , conceptual and configration all things are sum up here
Even if a switch has learned some VLANs through VTP, you still need to go on the switch to configure the access ports you need in what VLAN, the trunk ports who allows what VLANs etc. I don't see that tremendous help of VTP. It must be something I'm missing.
I don't often comment but I got a new Job and was feeling a little bit out of my depth, but wow thank you all so much for these videos I am really getting up to speed and feeling a lot better about myself.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I had my exam tomorrow and was not understanding this particular part. After watching the video, I am sure I would be able to do this if it comes in tomorrow's exam. Thanks for the help!
The videos from cetbros are really tremendous. The most of the topics the way you explained was awesome. The people will love and start learning who doesn't have idea or interest in Networking !!! . We are really awaiting for more tech videos !!! Appreciate your great works
Great video. I think you should mention that the vtp wipeout occurs when the removed and reconnected switch is in vtp server mode. If you change the vtp mode to client first, it shouldn't advertise the new database.
Thanks Scott, glad you liked the video. VTP clients can still cause wipeouts. When the server sees the higher revision number it will request a copy of the database.
8:28 - No the switch doesn't need to be in server mode. A switch in client mode with a higher revision number will push out its database to al other switches in the VTP domain.
VERY GOOD IDEA, CERTBROS ARE VERY SMART THEY SHOULD START TAKING OVER THE CISCO CURRICULUM, THESE INSTRUCTOR OR PROFESSOR TEACHES IN COLLEGES, THEY ARE ALL BOZO AND RUDE.
I so agree on this. I would appeal to the universe as well that he goes through the entire and add the concepts missing from CCNA Course and make video explaining them in how he already explain stuff. Because he does it already so well in presentation and in a very understandable way. I hope he does.
I have an issue with some Cisco switches that have been added to an existing network. I manually configured VLANs (on the new switches) that are working correctly, and traffic is flowing as expected. However, I mistakenly configured the wrong VTP domain and password, so my VTP client has not downloaded the additional VLANs. The switch is still functioning properly because the initial VLANs were manually configured before it was added to the VTP domain. If I now want to change the VTP domain and password while the switch is in production, what would the procedure be, and would it cause any service disruptions, recalculations, or other issues?
Thanks! I'm working hard on the course but there is a lot to cover. I'll be doing a prelaunch soon for everyone who has registered their interest so make sure to sign up. 👍
@Certbros: Excellent delivery and content: As mentioned: VTP pruning must only be enabled on Server (SW A), but looking at SW B database, VTP prunning is also enabled !! Does this mean Client Switch will also participate in prunning process or it is just refelecting the sync database. Please comment .
To save the risk of deletion because of increased revision no, can't we just erase entire configuration and make it fresh, now since it's revision no is less than servers it must be able to sync with server
Doesnt VTP wipeout only occurs when u modify only the server switch? I guess its good practice to convert the other client switch to vtp mode server if the server switch is to remove/upgrade/edit. Overall its best to have at least 2 server switches.
In the scenario at 7:30 , If the switch taken offline and put back online with no vlans and a higher revision number was a VTP client, would it still broadcast it's VTP data, and would the other VTP servers give a shit? Is the scenario considering that switch C is a VTP server?
CertBros, I am speechless, I don't know how to thank you,but in college these professors DO NOT explain lesson clear they want to feel important and smart, and not helping the students, If you ask them a question they tell you to go to book, CertBros thank you very much for short, smart and clear way explaining It, LOVE YOU.
Simple and to the point. That is how all the tutorials should be !!
Thanks Farhan! Just what I was going for.
CertBros I think there is one more mode in VTP called OFF mode to disable VTP completely.
Yes that's right. On some switches you can disable VTP with the 'Off' mode.
Off mode in in IOS 15 only. It isn't in IOS 12.
The additional info here by all those who commented on their being an “OFF” mode in later is very helpful to acknowledge. Thanks.
A pro on explaining, a pro with recording it, a pro with presenting it. Someone must increase your number!
Thanks Zeynel!
I agree with you man. His numbers will increase as people studying networking find his videos like me. And then find his videos so well explained both graphically in presentation but oratory explained as well.
I really like how short and clear when you explain how the vtp works , thank you so much.
Thanks!

Yes you are right! Slight oversight. Video has been updated. Good spot.

VTP YOU CANT STOP US NOW!!!!
Excellent 👍👍👍👍👍👍 you are genis such a great explanation
Yea that's right BirsbaneAU, if you ever take a switch off the shelf, no matter what, delete the VLAN.dat before putting it into production.
Everything back to default IOS image.
Love this video! Thanks man!
No problem! Thanks.
Great video, helped put some things in perspective for me.

Thanks!
easy and simple well done
Thanks Sheba
informative, thanks big guy
No problem! Thanks
Thanks for the awesome tutorial! I've a question: @5:50 "Links must be trunks" what does this mean?
I would also add that VTP configuration is stored in VLAN.dat and not running-config / startup-config.
In NVRAM , .dat file ✌️
Thanks for the great content
You're welcome! Thank you for the comment 👍

VTP is an alternative to reduce broadcasting on the network that should be used in corporate data networks?
I brought down a whole high school for a couple of hours because of the VTP revision. For all you youngsters out there use VTP with caution.
Haha. You're not a real network engineer until you bring down a network!
what is the difference between vtp version 1 and vtp version 2
To save the risk of deletion because of increased revision no, can't we just erase entire configuration and make it fresh, now since it's revision no is less than servers it must be able to sync with server

Amazing explanation
Is VTP Cisco proprietary? Can this be used in Dell force 10 and Juniper switches?
VTP is Cisco proprietary. I think Dell and Juniper have their own similar features.
1. Is VTP on by default?
2. Is there a way to protect against VTP wipeout?
In the scenario at 7:30 , If the switch taken offline and put back online with no vlans and a higher revision number was a VTP client, would it still broadcast it's VTP data, and would the other VTP servers give a shit? Is the scenario considering that switch C is a VTP server?
Best tutorial till date 🤘👌
