I have this same unit and I love it. I do have one concern but it may be nothing. The motors that drive the 10 in reels get very hot (you need the cabinet off)...I mean really hot to touch after an hour of play. Don't smell any burning and the unit continues to play so maybe this is normal. 7 in reels are not as hot. Any thoughts?

It was all good but unfortunately during many shiftings from one house to another house My beloved machine has been damaged. Head cover was broken. We don't have any service centre here in our country. Moreover Tape Reel (Spool) is not availabe here in our Country. Can you please do me a favour arrange to send me new reels. I can pay the cost. My Akai GX-630D looks as good as new.
Tuve uno y tiene defecto de fabricación. Lee entre pistas. Me lo cambiaron por Sony tc 633 una máquina.
What kind of manufacturing defect do you have?
@rakosipeter7446 sounds like all it needed was either a head block, or as simple as a azimuth adjustment.
