Where I live in the UK there is NO WAY someone who is earning a regular wage could afford a well designed 1 bedroom flat all on their own-- plus all the extra council tax and bills. You have to be earning a high wage if you want to live a happy and comfortable life. I despair. A relatively spacious comfortable little apartment should be something every human ought to have access to without struggling so terribly just to have a roof over their head and keep enough money each money for security, some small joys and food. In central London, pffft, good luck.
