YOUR A LEGEND BRUV, AND BY FAR MY FAVORITE RIDER OF ALL TIME AND I AM 42!!! I have other riders I enjoy to watch but Ryan changed the game forever!!!
Love listening to RV. Smart dude and he is now able to speak freely. Thanks guys
He's right, Cairoli is 35 years old and he's still competitive, keep in mind that there are only 19 MXGP rounds per year.
But mxgp actually race Saturday and Sunday which would total 36 rides x2 rides on each day at 35 mins mottos ?
@@ryanwarren1818 30 min moto's but they do 1 week of racing then 1 week off.
Ryan Warren travelling and time off is the point
Ryan is definitely the GOAT. Seeing him win the AMA championship after that Injury gave me chills. And then seeing him clinch the championship in Houston was definitely worth buying 4 tickets
TBH ricky has that title, but Ryan is definitely up there as one of the best and can say he made it without a doubt.

I witnessed RV quad-quad an uphill rhythm section at Hangtown. He was the only one that day who did it. Dunge saw him doing it, tried, and cased hard then just went back to quad-triple-single.
Such a cool thing to watch hanging over the fence of an outdoor MX track.
Love how Villopoto mentions he could have kept winning. No doubt about it, he was one bad dude on a bike.
The real goat, the could’ve beat all records he raced the best of all times and retired as a champ
I want to agree with you, I really do, RV2 was one of the only riders I was a REAL fan of, and I know the sport, and raced for years, etc....but RV did sustain life changing injuries and surgeries. I actually believe he thought it would be an easy retirement with a few “quick” championships and retire with a hug and a kiss abroad. HOWEVER !!!! When he smoked the “WORLD” on a 250 at the BUDDS CREEK MXON and gapped the “OPEN” field by over a minute and lapped to 17th place, I kind of think he got a chip on his shoulder that would be hard to smooth out. And I think he way underestimated the ACTUAL GP field and terrain.
I am grateful he realized his stature and threw in in the towel after that bad wreck at the GP. He truly is a champion !
But never...ever...underestimate the GRAND PRIX FIELD....THOSE BOYS KNOW MOTO TOO !! IMHO.
Yea I think he would have surpassed Ricky had he kept racing. Ricky himself said that Villopoto is the one rider that he would have hated to race against because he was so good.
That was endlessly fascinating. I have never heard a pro rider criticize the grind of a season that never allows it's riders to take a break.
I absolutely loved the 2021 SX schedule ..thought it worked well for everyone ..riders and viewers alike.
Feld is smothering the sport out of business
Professional motocross racers need to be looked as the athletes they are, NOT as entertainers. This is a sport, unquestionably the most athletic Motorsport of all. In terms of training commitment and level, pro-motocross exceeds any stick and ball sports by a huge margin. The athletes need to be treated, compensated and respected as such.
The European model is way better. Look at those guys, their careers are way longer
But where would that money come from? The stick and ball sports have a lot more competitions and that brings in a lot more money to pay the athletes. You’re kind of contradicting what Ryan is saying. They can’t shorten the season and pay the athletes more money when the organization is brining in less money.
Guys, let Ryan talk!
He has good head on his shoulders. Can't wait to see how his kids do
I love that Ryan spoke out about Feld. Really awesome to hear. This will be a similar case made to that of WWE.
People have no clue the dedication that the top athletes put in. The average guy would say “f**k this, it’s to much work” They put in a 6-8 hour physical workout every dam day since the age of 12 and that doesn’t even include the mental aspect of thinking about it 24/7 and revolving your whole life around winning...
Most people, even if guaranteed success and money, wouldn’t be willing to put in the effort and time.
@@AJourneyOfYourSoul You are 100% correct! Lol
And add to that the potential for injury, and actual injuries, and recovery from those injuries, and the mental aspect of that.
Pastrana said he was training so much he was being sick. And physically couldn’t train anymore. And that’s why he probably jumped to free style
Nailed it RV. 👍💯
Mx was way more fun to watch back in the 2 stroke days
Feld does not care, it's all about the money. Dirt bike athletes grind hard and it is SO TOUGH. I cannot imagine. Brutal travel schedules, test schedules, series schedules, media obligations for riders...burn out is eminent.
Imminent
Poto is definitely one of the best ever. Dude is a beast.
Great insight! Thanks for share. Thats to say least about unfairness in mx.
This is 100% facts and Ryan idea on how the schedule should be
The RIDERS need Representation !!!
Problem is, how they are paid, on a contract basis, by so many different companies. Kawasaki, would love for KTM, to go out of business. The Dallas Cowboys, will always need the PittsBurg Steelers, etc.
Money runs the show. No change until the riders team up and say enough
@1:46 RV giving GL the hand!!!! Do NOT interrupt me GL, I'm still talking!!!!! Hahahahaha
Great insight, but a certain #8 keeps interrupting him???????? Thank you for the great content!
RV is a smart guy, you can only do so much before your body will quit on you. Chad Reed IS the perfect example, he pushed it way to far, and went out as a washed up “old champion” who couldn’t beat kid’s practically half his age. That’s sad, and I feel for him, because that is not how I wanted to remember CR22 going out.
Come one man, you’re killing the whole video with the freaking commercials
Brave web browser.
RV is right, it’s all about these big companys making more and more 💰
So much fucking wisdom right there. DAMN!!!
Ryan was right The American series burns you out, trying to do supercross and the outdoors.Oh and Ryan what a rider you was f brilliant.
This sport like any other sport needs a big break every once in a while. Riders need this time to properly heal, spend time with family etc. It all falls down to greed with total disregard for the riders.
I’ve also noticed that career ending injuries seem to be on the rise in the last 10 years…
A lot of riders talk about this issues, I a known thing yet the industry just ignores it, this is going to end badly!
way better than pulp gossip
RV2 should have done another year or two of MXGP only, no SX or MX.
Villopoto fuckin nails it!
'i'm all in ' thats why he is in the top 5 of all time
He's absolutely right though. The guys need some sort of a break.
Sounds like a riders union for collective bargaining to make adjustments to the schedule is needed. For SX, doing the three round residencies in each stop, sat/tues/sat, then take the next week/weekend/week off and resume sat/tues/sat- with a total of 12 weeks, you could race all 18 rounds and have 13 days off between locations, have 250 class that races the same schedule, then have east west development classes. For outdoors they can race 9 rounds with no repeat tracks and get a two week break after round three and round 6 and race Memorial Day to Labor Day like always. And have a true 3 month off season before super cross starts up. They’re humans not machines. It’s a young man’s sport because the schedule grinds them up and with the mental demands of the sport your brain will fatigue and lead to physically injury. A change has to be made and the riders will have to come together to demand it; Feld and Mx Sports aren’t going to voluntarily do what is right for the riders, I thinks they’ve made that obvious by now.
Watching this makes me mad the AMA doesn’t give a shit about the riders. All they care about is money.
@@iceKOId yup, they responded by making the season longer with fewer and shorter breaks... and 8 of the top 10 riders crashed out. damn circus promoters
Let the RV speak, why u even invite him if he cant answer because u speak all the time over him.
I agree interviewers need to listen more speak less after they ask questions
They need a Moto union 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Speaking fact! Look at how moto gp is ran. 19 rounds for the year and its a done season. Why not do one series of supercross and motocross, don't split them up. That way they guys that are not so hot at supercross, but kickass outdoor or vis versa gotta chance at a title as well. Me much more interesting. Outdoors gets very little spotlight. This could bring a whole new light on it.
They should make it best of 12 and still have 16 rounds and best of 8 outdoors and still have 12 rounds...especially WW!!!!!!!
Look at the MXGP schedule. There are no back to back races.
Yep...
ONE plus is: many fans in Europe can then travel to the different races, not just their own closest race. WIN?WIN for fans, and teams/racers
Spot on identification. The sports themselves keep adding events because it gets them more TV money. Look at the NFL adding a seventeenth game. But hey, they do say that they "care about the athletes".
Yeah but it's the training in between all of that...You can blame the promoters now cause it keeps you in a good relationship with certain people. It is a lot of racing, but the training from Saturday to Saturday is what burns these guys out. It's not a coincidence that all of Aldon's riders that were successful retire "early" Dungey, Villopoto, Carmichael, and maybe Webb coming up. Look at the riders now, you can't train like that and expect to be around for a long time. Any sport is like that. Tomac has said that he takes it easy so he doesn't get burnt out. Taking a jab at the promoters is kind of weak to me...when he knows it's the training too. He can blame promoters but also look in the mirror and blame the training programs to.
@@mxwells216 The problem is you have to train that hard because there's no break. When they have the SX break they go home and test for outdoors. They have to be 100% every day of the year if you want to get paid. Why hasn't Malcolm gotten a fulltime ride? Because he only wants to do SX and have the summer off instead of kill himself. If RV did SX only he would have 10 titles at least same with RC. Teams don't want part-time riders and when a lot of your money comes from bonuses you have to be at the top as much as possible before your career is over which could be any race or practice session. It is the promoters who are fucking everyone. First place in SX gets $15k, you can win more at fucking bingo. How much TV revenue do they get and how many tickets do you need to sell to pay that? It's an average of $74/ticket and pre-covid they sold over a million tickets a season. Total payout is $86k for the 44 riders in both classes combined per race. The NFL gets about 16 times more fans with a 50% percent higher ticket price and pay about $12 million a game to 50 guys. The SX payout is equivalent to 0.7% of the one game payout for the NFL. If you divide it out to equal the SX numbers it would be $390k a game/race. Certainly they could pay $200k even with lower TV rights because they have way less expenses than the NFL teams paying coaches tens of millions of dollars etc..
It's not about the riders to Feld its about $ they have never given 2 shits about the riders because there is always a younger hungrier rider to take their place.
Greed is disgusting
There just talking, Grant is a good dude. So are Ryan and Ping
The problem is if you remove rounds, another promoter will just create an event or mini series to fill its gap.
It used to be that way back in the 80s and early 90s
Wye it's so long
Cheerz boss RV
Why not maybe try this new covid approach to supercross and run the sat/tues/sat schedule, run sx straight through no off weekends. Then get your SX races finished by end of March, give the boys 2 months (April and May) to recover from injury and get into outdoors shape. Then hit outdoors June-August. Then a nice 4 month break Sept-December? And treat monster cup like any other off season race where it’s up to the rider if he wants to run it and try to make some extra money.
The thing about that schedule is that it was only that way because they were doing residencies. If they were to do that schedule going forward, a lot of places would get left out that would normally get visited.
@@chrisfrost7945 Good point, I doubt anything will change lol if anything the promoters will try to squeeze in more racing! Besides the real issue is the lack of incentive to race outdoors these days. It’s way less money than SX so most these dudes would rather skip it but can’t because of contracts and sponsors.
Next episodes title. Why supercross riders wear helmets, boots and gloves. Stay tuned.
PLEASE LISTEN TO VILLO
Is that grant Langston ?
I wouldnt be mad at guys taking sx off and just doing outdoors.
I get it, But I hate listening to riders complain about riding too much. most of us would love to be riding everyday.
because we are not on their level.
One thing Ryan didn’t mention in this clip is super cross is where the money is at. Motocross doesn’t touch supercrosses payouts. If anything the riders should boycott motocross until it’s actually worth it to race the outdoor series.
Then there is that thing where there will always be someone waiting in the wings to take your place once you don’t perform up to “their potential”.
Brutal physically, brutal mentally, brutal on the wallet. And all the athletes are all replaceable. Sad but true.
The factories may not let you only ride just Supercross or only Motocross. Riders are treated like jockeys who race horses for a living. If you’re winning, you stay and make money, but as soon as you slip, you’re out. You’re expendable.
I’m not sure what they mean by needed a break, or not getting one. You basically look at the season as one whole race year. Not 2 separate championships. That’s how Carmichael did it. They get from September to January OFF. That’s a break. Really what’s causing the burnout, is the high adrenaline dump over and over and over. It’s just that type of sport.
Yeah, good point, almost exactly four whole months. If I hadn't read this comment, I would've gotten the impression that he didn't get any time off at all, besides the 5-6 days between every event. They certainly don't mention that in the video.
Poto never liked racing anyway. He couldn't wait to retire.
its this thing they call RODEO
Id rather have more mx than sx.. I wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars yearly to go watch a single 20min main event multiple times.
Maybe he should have just raced in europe if he didn't like the sx/mx schedules.
its sad how they dont care about riders
Let the guy talk god damn
The only way is all in.
Vroom vroooommmm
its all about money...he should stay and continue in mxgp.
Ironically the sport is like chess. If you're not world champion by the age 26 you are done.
Moto X is tough and dangerous sport. I personally define motocross as outdoor not supercross.
So, race a full outdoor season and cut supercross in half.
But, I have a feeling the big $$$$ is supercross, sadly.
I get it the top guys are always under pressure to win but I'm not sure how far down you go say top 1-5 guys are making a lot of cash from sponsors / bike companies . The other riders are making much less and probably can't afford less races because the purse payouts are so small from the actual organization. Feld should be ashamed!
2020 Anaheim One Supercross | 450 Main Event Purse Payout ...
1. Justin Barcia | $12,000
2. Adam Cianciarulo | $6000
3. Cooper Webb | $4300
4. Blake Baggett | $3300
5. Jason Anderson | $3050
6. Ken Roczen | $2800
7. Eli Tomac | $2650
8. Justin Brayton | $2550
9. Malcolm Stewart | $2500
10. Vince Friese | $2450
11. Justin Hill | $2400
12. Aaron Plessinger | $2390
These purse payouts are ridiculous..10-22 don't even make expenses..I gotta put my life on the line for a 12k payout at best!?
Audio quality is crap. I want to watch/listen but this is painful.
OMG!! Welcome to being a real sport! Imagine if football players said they play too much for their millions!! HEY RV!! Take your millions and go away like you said you would!!!!
What's up with all the background noise? Are you in a restaurant or something? lmao
Because he got hurt so bad is why
Ryan clearly has issues, wearing a Yamaha shirt.....
get a yamaha
Zackly...shut it
Stop crying, real people work 2080 hours a years. You make major bank and your crying cause you work 24 weekends a year. You ride. 3 days a week and train 4 days a week. Man I feel so so bad for you...TRY REAL WORLD PROBLEMS CRY BABY!
Agreed🤔👍

Villo is a bad podcast guy. Talks over and cuts people off.
Awkwaaaaaard
The reason villapoto retired early because he choked in Europe
Oh the irony now the seasons are together, which baker didn’t make this man want to get in an get out.
They talk like they race.
