Great video James. The cows look in great condition. Congratulations that’s a great purchase.
Thanks Kai, we were very lucky to have found them 👍
Good luck very smart animals
Thank you 🙏
Hello James they look some lovely shaped girls bloody hell you got plenty of water it has been a horrible year for weather keep up the good work I can’t stop laughing at the one sat like a dog 😂😂😂😂
Yes, they have some shape about them. The place is practically submerged at the minute. I’m hoping the one that sits like a dog will become a regular contributor to the channel 😂
Hope all your new girls workout well for you.
I know a horse that sits like a dog in the field and watches out for anyone coming.😊
😂 animals do funny things ey!
Thanks mate, got everything crossed 🤞
very nice new stabilisers, look like a nice addition to the herd
They suit us down to the ground. Very excited about the future with them.
Best o luck the cows are fine animals
Thank you 🙏
A great video James
Thank you mark. 👍
Really good looking group of cows !
Thank you. I have high hopes with them. 👍
Hi James very nice one have a good weekend thanks again
Thank Darran! 👍
They look great!
You won't look back and better than empty cows.
I've a few heifers spare....lol
Thanks Nigel!
I actually have a young lad after a few stabiliser heifers and I mentioned you to him. If you message me your details through Instagram, I’ll pass them onto him. 👍
@@baldysfarm will do
Great video James great cattle you bought good luck with them ☘️👌
Thanks Gary! Got everything crossed 🤞 that it’s the start of good things.
That’s one big investment James, one thing for sure it will make you more than a new shiny tractor or pice of equipment in the yard, new shed and lots of grass to follow soon I hope, best of luck with them mate 👌👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Stephen. As you all well know, I’m not a big tractor fan. I’d much rather have a yard full of cows than kit.
good luck with those beautiful cows. They are beautiful and very docile too, given that they are in a new home and with a new owner!
Thank you. They have a great temperament. Couldn’t ask for more really.
Best of luck with the new arrivals great addition to the herd
Thank you very much 👍
Very nice cattle James especially like the black ones👍
Thanks Paul! They are nice. I have a few first cross black heifers this year too. 👍
You'll find you will have a few twins with stabiliser we always have a couple of sets out of 120 cows and always seem to calve quite early so ideal to put on a cow who looses her calf,
Yeh I’ve heard that. I’ll keep her under close watch. Not due till April. 👍
Really nice looking cows .stupid question of the day ,do you get new cows tb tested before you buy them 😊
Thanks Sara. Not a stupid question at all.
We always tb test prior to bringing them on farm no matter where they are from. If the buyer won’t agree, we walk away. The area we are in have to post movement test them too now, so these will be tested again in around 100 days or so.
Nice set of cows you brought in. As I watch more of your videos, you are bringing me around to the Stabilizers. I have always been a Hereford fan and had Herf/Limi base cows. The Stabilizers seem to have hit the mark of great Mama cows to raise calves, growth and I love that they seem to be very docile. Come on you even trained that one to sit like a dog(LOL).
Thank you. I like Herefords too. I’m also an Angus fan, just stabilisers come with so much data and fair eyes through the breed society.
Some of the new cows have names, gonna try and find out what the dog cows called. She can be a regular contributor then.
Great video James. More of the cow who sits like a dog please 😂
Oh don’t worry Keith, she’s make plenty of appearances. Some of them have names so I’ll have to see what hers is. She can be a regular feature. 😂
Hello, did you have any problems with bloat feeding herbal ley?
Was there any specific plant you asked not to be in mixture?
Thanks
Hey, not we didn’t have any issue what so ever. People warned us to be aware of it but nothing happened. Partly I think it’s because the cattle are fed legumes in silage from a young age so their gut microbes are adapted to deal with the legume content of the herbal leys.
The only plants we don’t have in ours are sainfoin and Lucerne. Not for any management reason, just because we have heavy soils and they are more suited to light land. If I have lights land, I would definitely include them. 👍
Will you send the cattle to mart or factory
They all go direct to the factory. 👍
Same boat as you this year James, 14 out of 104 not in calf so just calving the 90 (calving starting immanently). How old are your heifers that are weighing 550kg there?
We thought about running with what we had, but we did the economic forecast for the next 3 years and it made sense to buy them for us. Espies these where such a good fit.
Those heifers are about 22 months. Ideally should have gone by now but I didn’t bring them in from grass soon enough 🤦🏼♂️ rookie error 😂
So are the new cows in calf?
Yeh Philip, all in calf due end of March and April. 👍
