Almost makes me emotional. I had an 89 Jetta Gti 16v in Black. It was gorgeous. And at the same time, one of my best mates had an oak green 16v Golf. The late 90s were a blast.
I used to valet and drive these when they were brand new when I worked for Volkswagen in the 90s, Great memories apart from a police Radar Gun when I was driving a Polo G40 😒😒
Love the mk2 gti in that colour too was always my dream car and still is but I spanner all week on trucks and can’t be bothered fixing one up on me days off but would love one, have two gti atm love them
Great video, live in London and looking for a MK2. Similar scenario to yourself, had one back in the 1990’s and sold it due to family expansion. Looking for an Atlas grey 3 door but they don’t come up very often.
I bought a grey mk2 gti off a friend it was great drive but a friend needed a car so i sold it to him but said if u sell it sell it back to me .He drove it for a while then scraped it because it didnt pass mot 😢
Hi, i think you’ll find that that valve tees into the other small vacuum line that is connected to the diaphragm valve which was already connected to back side of airbox. This is how is was on mine!! But I’m going down the nut and bolt restoration line!! 🤯
Thanks, assuming it doesn’t matter in what place I put the t piece? Why do people take it off? I sometimes feel like stripping it all down and doing a nut and bolt resto but just don’t have the time
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic definitely not me! Alongside it, I had an 87 cylinder Sprint Turbo (essentially a Suzuki Forsa, sold under Chevrolet l, very rare) from 93-2012. Haha weirdly this one was from Edinburgh but don’t think it was Roseburn street, and the guys name was Travis I believe, but I had previously had a mk2 exact same as this one from a guy called Alan, but was from Norwich area

Haha I’ve been on the wrong end of a speeding gun in my last mk2 😂
What a gem of a car
Watch my latest video on it 😂😂

I know that feeling all too well mate, I’ll get this one ready and you can buy it off me 😅
Do not temp me as I’ll snap like a Kit Kat @@kerbsidemobilemechanic
😂😂😂I’ll get it all up and running nice and then message me again 👍🏻
Subscribed! Looking forward to further updates. The car looks lovely by the way. And a leather trimmed steering wheel which is a nice addition!
Thank you, I assume leather steering wheels wasn’t standard on all GTI’s then?
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic it might have been an option for the standard gti, but I’m fairly sure they only came on G60’s or Rallye’s. Worth a few quid.
@@chrisb2443awesome, didn’t know that
AN! lol. I have an Oaky the same with a G60 conversion in my garage. Been off the road for something ridiculous like 14 years.
@EDANBURGH lol do you ever think about selling it? Like what’s the point of it just sitting there?

Yeah they are getting rarely and prices are shooting up too
Car is lovely
Thanks
Nice Motor 👍 best Golf in my opinion best colour too. Restore it standard condition.
Totally agree, think standard is best 👍
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic always the best way, it's how we remember them back in the day. Good investment anyway. 👍
@@MalteseMafia exactly that, hopefully they continue to rise in price too
Bought a golf C tour edition with 71000 km only. Is it true these well condition mk2’s are getting rare and more expensive?
Jó állapotban van a járgány! :-)
Thank you

Please make time 🤞🏻, great video content, would love to see the full restoration.
@@chrisneillcrnI will try my best around doing work for the business, it would be awesome once done wouldn’t it
The engine is from a corrado i think 2.0 16v?
No this is a 1.8, very similar though as you can use the corrado 2.0 block with the mk2 gti 1.8 head i believe
Keep it Stock. Maintain it. Fix what needs Fixing.
That’s the plan 👍
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic I’ve been at that with my 92 16v in the States since 98 :)

That's golf gti that colour its a collection
Beat colour in my opinion (obviously 😅)
ADL / ABF? :D
