3 exhausting hours later I stumble upon this straight to the point, totally realistic, easy to do tutorial.....this needs to be at the top of the "how to make a petticoat" suggestion list! Thank you for your labor of convenience!
I've been sewing for 25 year and I'm so glad to see an actual quick petti be made. Sometimes you are short on time after the main garment is made so you only have an hour to whip up the underpinnings or maybe it's a one time skirt that needs something right in the moment. So it's nice to see a "run and gun" approach to just getting it done. Nice work.
Finally an easy tutorial. I keep finding fancy petticoat tutorials but I mean I just want to make one on a budget and it's going under my cosplay anyways hdjskdndbbsna thank you sooo much
I'm so glad I found this vid. I'm a beginner and every other tutorial was ugly, hard to understand or too complicated. you made this and it's pretty, easy and neat. Big thanks!!
Holy crap this is sooo easy! Most tutorials use pleated layers or something like that and it involves so much math and complicated sewing. And this is soo poofy.
it turns out to be amazing and its puffier than i expected. I'm so happy because it doesn't take that long to make it. I even have a time to sleep. It's comfortable too!
Wow, this is so simple, I've looked at so many petticoat tutorials and this one is by far the easiest to understand, I'm very much a beginner at sewing so this is really helpful, thanks :3
You can not believe how long I have been looking for this. I did not know the correct terminology, so it practically took me all day. I'm so glad I've found this. I wanted my skirt/dress to "expand".....you wouldn't believe the "responses"...lol.
Hi Rainbow Redwood, just seeing your message. The responses were abt upsizing & downsizing, lengthening skirts bt worst of all, "expanding bust of dress" n I was like 😡. Don't remember how I ended up here 😁😊😍
This was literally the easiest way to do it! I’ve watched a million videos on how to make a petticoat and you just helped me more in 3 minutes than any other video!! Thank u!!
This is the first video I watched on how to make a petticoat and I don’t need to watch any others! I need one floor length and they’re so expensive; but I don’t have to worry any more! You’ve done a public service. Thank you SO MUCH!
@@victorianeu4266 I also will be making a floor length one (getting married next summer) and most of the larger ones are 60-80 or 100+. I know it's an old post, but if you got a chance do you remember, or can estimate how many yards and what material you used?
I must agree with many of the comments listed, this helped me very much. Had the basic idea however you brought all together for me. Thank you ever so much.
When I first found this tutorial I got so excited that I just dived right in on my own and I was so confused when mine wasn't nearly as poofy as yours. I just came back to re-watch and see what I did wrong, I now realize that I am dumb lol. I used scrap tulle to make my first one. It was barely 3 yards of it. ; - ; 10+ yards was the part I did not catch the first time, so I bought a whole bolt of tulle. The next petticoat I make will be done right! :P
This is amazing! I've looked at so many petticoat tutorials and they've all seemed kind of confusing and complicated to me but this one looks so simple and its very easy to understand! Great work!

Rainbow Redwood Thank you for posting this tutorial video. I have watched others and those were confusing. Your tutorial was very simple and easy to follow. Once again Great Tutorial 👍 👏
This is perfect!!! Great idea to use the folded part as the waistband. I also like the raw edges of the tulle, I wouldn't mind if it peeked out of the skirt or dress a little. By far the best tutorial!!!
omigosh so happy i found this! I was looking for a simple petticoat diy video for my next cosplay and you have SAVED me of all the hassle of the other ways
Thank you so much for this simple and unintimidating video! I'll be using this with a really pretty red skirt I found for a festival at the end of this month. Thank you so much! Also you have a very calming voice, you make me feel like I could actually do this!
Glad to be of service and thank you for the comment on my voice. When making these diys I try to tone my voice down because I am kind of loud and pitchy normally.
Just started learning to make my own clothes last month. Made two dresses and starting my 3rd tomorrow. 1 thrifted poofy dress that is now purple with flowers in the see through sleeves. Also, made a curtain tiered dress the other day. Took about 8-10 hours. Making a horse print tiered coat tomorrow, maybe this will help it look nicer. For all of these dresses.
+Boa Chii I know what you mean. I have made so many petticoats the traditional ways AND they take forever AND they don't deliver results as great as this one does.
What a simple method for making a tulle petticoat. I am making a cosplay long skirt and needed someway of making it look fuller. I will be using your great tutorial to make my petticoat. Thanks!
Wow, thank you! I was getting upset because I was feeling unable to make a petticoat and I find them quite expensive just to be a piece that goes under the skirt haha. Thank you again! ♥
okay, this is amazing (actually legendary, this is the best tutorial on this topic that i've found so far) BUT - what if we changed just one detail? don't sew up the elastic right away, sew it lightly so that you can easily undo the work, or close it with a clothes pin Then measure on yourself the length you want the underskirt to be Then remove the elastic, flatten out the material, cut it in a straight line, finish off if you need Then put the elastic back in and sew it tight? It does take up time to get in the elastic twice, but it saves up so much nerves in getting the bottom all even?
And if you make more of them, you can add more and more and more and more and more and more poof!! Thank you so much! This is a sewing project in my skill range!
Wow okay that looks really good. I want a really big puff and I figured it would take a lot of layering but I guess I was wrong because I think the puff of your skirt was just perfect :)
