Here in Spain, we go direct to the medical doctor accredited by the Government. There the doctor will give the simulated effects of driving, medical, then if he or she passes, he makes the Driving Licence right there, on the premises. All we need is a photo and the cost. Still, the style in the philippines is OK and organized. Wow, that office looks so comfy and posh. The Philippines is TRULY A DEVELOPED COUNTRY and no one can deny it. Even the surrounding areas while you were walking...in the 70s, imagine what it was like hehehehe

Here in America they don't need medical certificate. As long as you pass the exam to have a learner permit and subsequently pass the actual test, you will be issued a driver's license. It applies also to PWD(person with disability)
The process improved a lot recently. It was a slow during the time I applied for a driver's license some more or less 20 years ago :) People who "assist" you outside LTO premises are called "fixers". As I've said back in the old days, it was difficult to process car and drivers licenses and they exist for that purpose. I never availed one though. Congratulations, it's one of the accepted/powerful Philippine ID's you can provide for identification and documentation purposes.

It used to take a whole day to get a license. About 3-4 years ago it was revised and improved and now from a whole day it takes about 4 hours on a busy day

Yep, it's much much easier to get a driving license in the Philippines compare to many countries, you don't have to attend driving schools, as long as you have experiences in driving motorcycles or 4 wheels.. and the Philippine professional driver's licence costs like 50 or 60 dollars only.

When i got my Swiss (!) driver’s license, my Phils licence was “confiscated “ 🤨 I explained that I need it when am in Mnl -luckily, it was returned and I renewed it when its due. We hv the Swiss “timeless” license but now, the news ones are renewable now here. 😊 keep safe!

Yeah, that was fun ; congrats Mike & Nelly! . Got mine laat year from Dutch license to Philippines license. The Dutch program has always been super expansive and expensive though...like...no practical exam BEFORE you pass theory test...which is a 225 pages theory book all for an hour and a half 75 multiple choice question test. Practical program can take uo to 6 months and cost thousands of Euros. lol.
Congratulations. I guess the pandemic had something to do why the process was so fast. The other day, I went to PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority) to get a copy of my daughter's birth certificate. I was expecting to return in a few days to get it after paying, but I was surprised to have it in less than an hour. The office was not full of people. But before the pandemic, I hear from friends that it took days to get the certificate they need.
Hello Mike and Nelly! Just an advice, always bring your own pen - put it in your everyday bag or pocket. So that in case you have to fill up forms or jot anything down - you won't touch pens that have been used by other people.

As a foreigner I find it best to go to LTO Quezon. Actually went and stood in line for hours at other LTO and was told to go to Quezon of special circumstance. I don't know if anyone can beat that line they went through. That was short.

I have never encountered a rude LTO employee and not trying to give them an excuse but I think they are so bored out of their minds and moving like a robot just to get through the day. I agree though that since they work in the service of the people, they should make extra effort to be more accommodating or give a slight smile as it can make someone's day who's been in line for hours sweaty and hungry only to be greeted by an unsmiling or grouchy person on the other side of the window. This is the reason why I started watching Mike and Nelly because they seem to find good things in everything. Life is not perfect and sometimes we just have a bad day but Mike being hilarious and Nelly oozing with warmth, can't help but make me feel good especially on days when I needed it most. 💞

It's only empty bec of the pandemic. It's still usually a lot of people. We are still under quarantine. Not everyone wants to go out and there are many transport companies still not allowed to operate

Not to be negative, but because they're "white" they didn't encounter rude LTO staff (well most government offices Tbh). Some staff scream at you, give you a face and overall an attitude if they see you as regular Pinoy, unfortunately. 😭
I paid almost 4k€ in getting my driver's license here in Germany,that was 6yrs. ago.The driving lesson/hr (fahrstunde) was 35€ back then,it's even more expensive in big cities like Frankfurt or Berlin. Attending a first aid seminar is also one of the requirements in getting a driver's license here. My hubby has the same (paper) driver's license, for him it has a sentimental value that's why he doesn't want to change it to plastic :)

Not to be negative, but because they're "white" they didn't encounter rude LTO staff (well most government offices Tbh). Some staff scream at you, give you a face and overall an attitude if they see you as regular Pinoy, unfortunately. 😭

I paid almost 4k€ in getting my driver's license here in Germany,that was 6yrs. ago.The driving lesson/hr (fahrstunde) was 35€ back then,it's even more expensive in big cities like Frankfurt or Berlin. Attending a first aid seminar is also one of the requirements in getting a driver's license here. My hubby has the same (paper) driver's license, for him it has a sentimental value that's why he doesn't want to change it to plastic :)

I’m from SoCal, when I go to Manila I have my International Drivers License, so I can drive there. No problem 😊
but international drivers licence is good for one year only..unlike if you convert it to local license ..
