The Targaryens managed to hold on to power for nearly 300 years, but it seems that they were their own worst enemies and hastened the end of their dynasty.
I always took Aegon IV as a troll of the first order. He cared only about himself and is the sort to be amused by causing misery in others. I doubt he cared who was king after him, but even in death had a need to cause chaos.
Just wanted to add a point that Martin looked to history when it came to who supported House Blackfyre. If you look at most rebellions in history, it is not the top houses/families that support the rebellion as they have the most to lose. Its usually families that are level or two lower as they have the most to gain. Thats why the Frey's supported the Blackfyre's and not the True Targeryens, As if the Blackfyres won, the Freys would then become the Warden of the Riverlands.
I'm very much a fan of the new branding and the new intro Robert. Keep up the good work. Your efforts and upgrades with the channel over the last few months are greatly appreciated
I have noticed the audio is off lately It will be normal then drop real low Can't hear what you're saying. This week isn't as bad a previous weeks. But I like the new intro and backgrounds! Look forward to these every week!
The thing about Daemon Blackfyre is that legitimized or not, there would have been lords who looked down on him simply because he was a bastard. I can't speak to the family tree at the time, but they would have looked for any legitimately born Targaryen to rally behind
If you presume Varys has been working from the beginning to get a Blackfyre on the throne, then you can look at a different definition of "the realm". In a monarchy, the nation (aka the realm) and the king are considered synonymous. A personal betrayal of the king, such as adultery, is considered treason. If Varys believes the Blackfyres to be legitimate rulers of Westeros, than anything he does to get one on the throne counts as "serving the realm".
Bitter Steel picked up Blackfyre after Daemon died to fight Blood Raven - who presumably held Dark Sister - at the Red Grass Field. The only problem with this is that there was no mention of the sound of their battle. When Blackfyre and Lady Forlorn crossed blades, the sound was heard for miles around.
Hi Robert, I hope you're looking into the various reasons why your mic is going in and out. You're improving your visuals, it's a shame that your audio is taking a hit. Nonetheless I do still enjoy your videos.
Hey Robert been watching your channel for a while now and gave to say you come across as a genuine person and would love to hear more about the war of the nine Penny Kings I have to admit I don't know a lot about it
poor Rhaegel lost his big brother for a hedgeknight, had a brother so lost in books he never found a way out and a unhappy Maekar for a younger brother
Around 2:08 it's like what grrm said about proficiency, it just matters what ppl believe, weather or not if they are or aren't who they're say they are
It aggravates me the disrespect most people have to say about Daemon blackfyre the first, in the text it's said that he was a good man great fighter and he didn't even want to start a rebellion it was better steal and a good amount of Nobels who started everything
Robert wouldn't have harmed Jon, the truth was that Ned believed in the worst in another man, who believed in nothing but the best in him, here's another way of looking at it I think; Robert would not have harmed Jon had he known the truth simply out of love for Lyanna. Now here's another view; had say Cat had a bastard, Ned would kill the infant, hence why he believed Robert would. Not trying to blast Ned, just offering an alternative way to view the characters. As to the Blackfyres, the sad thing is Daemon had the better claim by virtue of being Aegon Dragonbane's grandson, yet with that said, he would have made a poor king. So many 'love yous' and support in this 'Fellowship', so that this is honestly the most supportive beautiful chat/fandom I've ever seen. They give me hope and inspiration when writing and every Thursday.
anyone notice that the north doesn't get in any of the wars. the only one they get in, is the dance of dragons. north stays out of the realm. like they have more important things to worry about.
Littlefinger more or less accomplished what the plan with Viserys probably was. It wasn't really important that he took Westeros, which actually would have probably been difficult with the Dothraki alone. Dothraki are mounted nomadic raiders. Westeros has armored knights, soldiers, cavalry, and castles. It was about weakening the Westeros forces and causing the misery to the regular people that the Dothraki can do so well. The hord raiding through the Reach and Riverlands would make travel difficult and coordinating battle plans would be harder.
The biggest piece of evidence that Young Griff is fake is The Golden Company abandoned a contract to fight on his side and Ilyrio's comment about contracts bound in blood. My question about the whole scheme is what was the plan when Varys first came to Westeros. Aegon wasn't born at the time and almost certainly Young Griff wasn't, either. Was Varys just there as recon and they didn't come up with something until the two boys were born around the same time. It seems Young Griff is anywhere between 14 and 16, which helps because kids grow at substantially different rates. There could be maybe 2 years difference between Griff's and Aegon's births and no one would suspect he's older/younger than he really is. Were they considering putting Griff's mother on the throne?
To add more to my comment I mean shot Bloodraven got Darksister ffs the legitimized bastards had the most important targ relics , just like riding Balerion that has to mean something
Excellent I had to catch it late but it actually worked fine cause usually I'm wrapped up in the chat and do a research later but yes technically the Blaclfyre sword owner should be the targ king it's the sword of kings Aegons sword targaryean ancestral sword so maybe that should have bin the crown basically
I really wanted to get into these live streams, but the sound just nakes it listenable. Its like you keep turning a nob that brings the volume from a whisper to a piercing shout. And that cycle repeats every 5 to 10 seconds. I coulndt get trough 5 minutes of this. I hope you fixed that in later episodes
Think u got the light too bright pointed on u. U look almost ghostly. Also idk if u read the dune books but if u have could u break some of it down. I never read the books so there are some things I didn’t understand. Figured I’d ask the deepest geek. lol. Love ur content
I’m or the belief that Daeron really was Aemon’s son because Jamie the Kingslayer seems like an echo of Aemon the Dragon Knight. Take a second and think about it; who they loved, what they did to be close to them, how they fathered bastards that were pretending to be heir of an unworthy drunk horndog king etc etc etc
Is it just me or does anyone else has serious issues with the audio? Either he's way too loud or he's barely audible. I'm constantly having to fiddle with the volume and it's a shame, because I wanted to watch this, but this is too frustrating...
As much as I like the content on this channel, these streams are often hard to listen to. The audio quality is worse than on any other (bigger) channel, both in terms of pure audio (mic setup - is he sitting in a hallway and meters away from the mic?), smacking noises while speaking and regular sounds drop-offs. Not sure if the latter is due to his internet connectivity or the streaming software he uses. For a channel that requests and reminds listeners to pay to participate (super chat, patreon), wouldn’t investing a bit of the money into a decent setup and internet connection be somewhere on top of the list? Anyway, keep up the good content.
Robert please invest in a functioning high quality mic, it is unbearable to try to listen to almost three hours of good content when the audio quality is this atrocious.
Dunc is the Forest Gump of Westeros

Video is horribly washed out too. Dude needs an IT and an AV guy desperately.
@@bengabrielson concur, obviously love him and will keep watching. But it still looks very amateur. Year one is excusable but it's time to step up

They are called great bastards because they were noble from both sides
Fave part: everything was going well until David Bowie died. Hahaha 😆🥂 well played Ser Robert @in deep geek cheers, mate!
Was Bloodraven a loyalist or was this just all part of his Targaryen Eugenics program?

You have a new PFP 💥
The King who bore the sword!!
You have quibbles with Dune? What was your opinion on Rings of Power?
Do you think you'll ever cover the Dune series? I'm so enthralled with it since watching the movie!🍿

The crown is the crown. Blackfyre is a symbol of its commanding power.
New intro very cool. We need some music. Early 60's. Or Yes very wonderful prog rock. Especially. Hugs buddy.
Aegon IV sure loved his kids, all his kids. Or hes just trolling the realm.
