Nice to see real farming once in a while the horse or the mule and a plow and a fucking shotgun or rifle was what made this country amen young man keep being what your being
That plow is set perfect for that sod. Great green manure. Right up there for some of the best plowing I've seen. Good job! Buy that plow. You have some neat videos.
Looks like you've been taking good care of that plow. She cuts like a razor. I think it's pretty neat that you made your tractor into a half-and-half row-cropper of sorts as well. Not many people would have put that much thought into it.
Good luck! We still used a 1066 for random shit, and we needed to just paint our 4 row plow for reasons. (ours is a bit different). Kudos for keeping the cab on the 1066. Dad had asthma and since it was so hot with no A/C we got rid of our cab on ours. NJ. (1066 was our main tractor for soooo long ;)) We could plant soybeans into pasture though last time we tried it, there were some addatives for it, but we didn't need to plow it. We did right into pasture. (maybe part of the country, we're in North Missouri) (we do notill, and that's kind of our bag) We only do field corn (sometimes goes food grade) and soybeans though.
Such plowing that you use is nothing new to me, in Poland where I live, many farms plow at least once every two seasons, the basis of a good plowing taught by my father, a well-adjusted plow, does not have to go too deep, nor too shallow, plow furrows must be at perfect distances to each other. And after the first level crossing, you can boldly release the steering wheel, the same rut after the last furrow leads the tractor in a straight line. Greeting from Poland :D
I know talking like a know-it-all makes you feel special and all, but nobody asked for your advice. Plowing, in general, is as old as time. Don't act like you invented it.
Got your work cut out for you. Always difficult changing a pasture or hay field back to a row crop. Would have liked to see the plow a bit deeper. Assuming you hit it a couple of times with a disk?
Gavin Spoor bet that disking was rough haha ! We did some plowing cornstalks last year on our farm, and I ran the disk over it with our 4650 and wow. I cracked my head on the glass a few times 😂
Nice video I've read in the comments why didnt you go deeper to me it looked like you were 5 or 5 1/2 main thing was when you seen what you were flipping over it looked like you were under the roots. Maybe popcorn dont need 8in or maybe the soil was moist. People always have things to say as an outsider looking in. I have a international 586 with a 3x16 and 72 massey 135 2x16 I never do 8in.
Yep, use/buy what you can find. Nothing wrong with that. My 504 pulls a 3 bottom 3 point. Little heavy but pulls fine. Maybe some day I'll run into some front weights and bracket.
Gavin Spoor My apologies. I totally understand that. We finally quit using mold board plows. I have a 5, and 6 bottom semi mounted IH plows and two 3 bottom snap coupler and a 4 bottom 3 pt hitch. I know plow poor lol
Instead wasting so much fuel plowing to kill grass. Just run a mower at the lowest setting. Which will help dry out the stem of the grass fast. Then run a disk over whats left.
Jason Buis plowing to the best of my knowledge isn’t used only in the hopes of killing grass. It is used to turn over the soil to bring nutrient rich dirt from below the surface up to the top and also to open up new fields and make a good seed bed
There's nothing really to worry about with a plow that small unless you drive like an un-hinged teenager. Slow and steady wins the race and all that...
Terminator Maurer maybe that’s all he can afford to buy? Plus what the hell is wrong with international? U do realize that just because of a tractors color doesn’t mean it’s better than another.. I’ve been around John Deere all my life. I’ve got a family farm full of them.. John Deere doesn’t always do a better job than IH or allis or new holland or Massey
Yours is the first video I have seen where someone gives a simple plain demo on how the plough works. 👍
Keep on farming. At least the young man is out working.
Jayson Graft thank ya!
Nice to see real farming once in a while the horse or the mule and a plow and a fucking shotgun or rifle was what made this country amen young man keep being what your being
That is some nice looking soil you're turning.
clydo1946 it worked up good !
Yep, wish mine looked like that. I got rocks and a lot of them.

Set perfect would mean that no turf was left on top, so far from perfect
@@bigteddy66 I guess so. I thought I was responding to him. Some how I got on your site. Sorry, I'll just delete all the comments.
@@milkweed7678 good idea
Is damn straight furrows man. Very nice. Plowing is one of my favorite jobs 👌
Gixzer04 thank you!
Its fun watching that 10 work.It plays with that 4 bottom in that sod. You got the plow setting perfect.
That ground there seems to have good moisture!
_Perfect for some sweet corn!_
Too anyone saying your not going deep enough. If your covering the trash up your going deep enough
That's plenty deep. Always told no more than 6 inches. I plow just deep enough to "cover the trash" as you said, usually 4 inches.
My uncle called a "dead furrow"...thanks for the ride-along
Awesome job of plowing!
Great video....we have a 1066 turbo on our farm....don't do a whole lot of moleboard plowing tho but our 1066 use to pull a 5/14 IH plow

Half and half row cropper?
@@anthonythorp7291 Do I really have to explain? It's a row-cropper on one side and a dual on the other.
@@MFKR696 yes and thank you. I'm not up on all the terminology. We call a tractor a tractor.
Very good video looking forward to watching more
Donald Brand thank you!
Ahhhh, so satisfying 😊
Slow down a bit....less holes between furrows
Reminds me of my cousin, too fast to be a farmer. Everything is hurry hurry hurry. He made the fluffiest round bales I ever seen.

Good straight furrow but put the plow in the ground about 1 foot roll the ground over not just the turf
David Signor subsoil is nasty clay, didn’t want to bring to much of that to the top. We’ve only got around 6” of topsoil in this part of Missouri
Wisconsin we don't have a foot of topsoil.
Nice machine guy.
Man I dont miss those tractors.
Country Boy can survive!
I really enjoyed this video lol. Good job
Great job
Great job should have did it last fall.
Ozarks Farmer Hansen wish I coulda! Just got it rented this spring

Almost twice that deep.....
In sand?
Who cares

That 1066 needs a straight pipe
Is this plowing 101 for city folk ???
Perry Crozier yep!
That great discing
Not plowing scarifying the top
I'da hayed thay and made a few dollars off it then turned and planted it if you have the equipment for it
That’s the first 1066 with green star that I have seen
Why just a 4 bottom plow. Plowing in Road gear ??
Keith Martin was the only one I was able to find, not many plows used in our area

Wait for the ride when you disk it

Almost as bad as rock picking.
Maybe that's all he had what does it matter if he had a 12 bottom jackass the young man is working and farming
@@calebthacker9021 theres no need for name calling I just ment it going to be a rough ride , I done it with a IH M with narrow front end.
1066 pulls that plow...EASY
If it’s red keep it in the shed lol.... jk good videos man
Jackson Cooper thank you
I was thinking his tractor should be green but I cant say much, I own a IH 504. It's like me - old, tired, and leaky but can still put in a days work.
Where’s all the rock. Doesn’t everyone have rocks?
We have to use the load all to lift the rocks out of our fields
I have his share of rocks. A couple other peoples too.
Not cutting very deep.
Dan Van Hoose about 5”
Wtf green star on very old tractor XD

Why use that tractor when we have John Deere tractors

Know why John Deeres are green?
So they can hide when they're broke down in the field.
If it aint red leave it in the shed
Know why they're red? So the mechanics can find them easier.
A little bit too much speed to plowing.
why aren't you plowing that deep it gonna be a shit show to cultivate that field
What a mess
Christian Elbracht soil turned over really good. Excited to see how the crop turns out
Christian Elbracht could have been drier, this has been a very difficult year so far. Dealing with the hand we’ve been dealt
I am from Germany. Just wondering why dont you spray it whit Round up before? Spraying, waiting for 10 to 14 days discing, plowing, planting, ready 👍
If he lets it dry for a week or so before disking maybe won't be horrible?
Some entertainment and a learning experience if nothing else
