- Let’s talk hot pink polish! I’d been meaning to do a hot pink video for awhile now but when I had a viewer comment in a recent video if I had or was familiar with a long discontinued favorite polish of hers, it got me moving to see what I own from the indie world that could replace her old favorite. So here I pulled out what I could find plus added in a bunch more to swatch and show you. After you watch, let me know in the comments if you think I came close. Hi! That’s awesome that you went to the expo though! A much better experience than PPU! We used to have a similar type in person Indie Shop here in California that I got to go to a few times but there hasn’t been one here in many years. Maybe one day I’ll make it to Chicago or they will expand where they have it to other parts of the country.
But yeah, the Psyche Minerals is very pretty. I love the blue flakes in it.

I had that " sea violette" years ago an used it up! ❤❤ it.. But i bought Avon " Real rose'" not long after that an its spot on dupe too it!! I still have the Avon one an wore it last week as mani.. it has that blue shift in it that I❤ ❤

I have a couple of these polishes and it makes my spirit happy. The Phoenix polish "why aren’t we having sex right now" is pretty. I’ll be keeping my eyes out for something similar since I like the bright pink/red shimmers I see in it.
Psyche Minerals and those reflective glitters are gorgeous in Ghastly Smell (glad I purchased).
I still have my eyes on "Barb" from Sassy Sauce and "Anything is Popsicle" from LynBDesigns for my future purchase.

You have such a lovely variety of pink polishes. I’m mainly a mainstream brand girl, what’s the average turnaround time of getting Indie polishes? I made my first Indie purchase July 24th, finally got an email August 29th that a shipping label has been prepared but no delivery date yet.
Hi! Welcome to the world of indies! This will be a long reply, let me know if anything doesn’t make sense, you need more clarification or you have further questions.
Turn around time varies greatly between not only makers but whether you are purchasing from a pre-sale (which a lot of indies seem to do with new releases and also things like Polish Pickup, Hella Handmade Creations and other websites that offer many different brands for sale in a collab type of thing, those will always be preorders) or just making an order from a makers site at a random time when their shop is open. Let me break it down a little.
Many makers will have new releases and do it as a pre-order so as many people who want the polish can get it. The opposite of this would be makers who pre make the polish and will have a set number to sell and once those sell it’s sold out until next time. There are pros and cons to both ways. Pre orders leave everyone who wants the polish happy that they can order it but turn around time (TAT) is longer because once the sale window is closed the maker has to make, pour, label, pack and ship the orders. So that could take awhile to get done as many indie polish makers are just one person doing all that work plus everything else that goes into running a business plus many have full or part time jobs that they have to deal with in addition to their polish business. On the other hand, having a set number of polish pre made and ready to go can leave unhappy customers behind if the items they want sell out quickly. TAT is quicker but you may not even be able to buy what you want.
So many makers have gone to a pre order basis which does often take longer to ship and receive.
The collabs like Polish Pickup (PPU) and Hella Handmade (HHC) MUST be done on a pre-order basis. I’ll use PPU as an example. Many makers come together to offer a polish around a central theme each month. (It could be up to 50 or more makers depending on the collab.) So for PPU the shop opens for one weekend a month (Friday-Monday). Sales come in all weekend and when the sale is over PPU headquarters lets each brand know how many items sold. The makers now have to make, bottle, label, pack and ship those sold items to PPU headquarters. They normally have a week to get that done. Then headquarters is receiving all these shipments from maybe up to 50 makers. They are having to organize everything and can’t really start shipping until all makers items have been received. So that may take 2-3 weeks (depending on number of orders) to get everything in from the makers and picked and packed and mailed. Then it’s maybe a week for the consumer to receive it in the mail. So those types of things will always take about a month from ordering to receiving. Sometimes I haven’t received my previous months order before the shop opens again, but it’s usually pretty close to that time.
If you’re just placing an order from an indie maker, not at new release time, that should be processed quicker because I would think they already have the polish made, they just have to pick it, pack it and mail it.
All brands should have their current TAT listed somewhere on their website so that will give you an idea of timeframes to expect. Some brands are quicker than others. Often times makers are at the shorter end of their stated TAT. But sometimes it does take all that time. I am still waiting on an order that I placed on July 20. It was just shipped on Aug 28.
So a lot of variables go into it… pre order versus capped sales, how many orders are received, how much time the maker has to work on the polish side of the business, etc. Then if you throw in a big sale or something expect more sales and possibly longer TAT.
But long story longer, always check the websites for stated TAT then decide if you want to wait that long. I don’t mind longer TAT. I will forget what I ordered and it’ll be like a surprise package in the mail whenever I receive it. lol.
