AWESOME presentation. I made a PROMISE to God that I would pray for the souls in purgatory every day of the rest of my life. Please I challenge you to do the same. These souls are suffering more than we could imagine. They will do the same for us when WE go to purgatory.

I converted to Catholicism at age 18 in 1971. The doctrine of Purgatory was the doctrine that most appealed to me---it just made sense!
I read that book several years ago, Scarecrow. I was thinking about re-reading it, if I still have my copy.
Purgatory made sense to me. Also the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
If you don’t renounce this pagan religion you’ll lift up your eyes in Hell! Purgatory does not exist!

There is no such thing in the Bible.Hail Mary, was a message the angel gave to Mary from God to explain to her that she would get pregnant by the Holy Spirit placing Jesus in her womb.Mary is not part of the Hothead ! Please correct your misconceptions of the Catholic church, outside which no one is saved. We DO NOT worship her but give Mary honour as the immaculate mother of Christ. You Protestants ask your friends to pray for you, in the same way, we ask Mary and the saints. Please....the full canonical bible wasn't compiled until the 4th century AD. Perhaps the early Christians were misled because they had to rely on Sacred Tradition?

Yes their is purgatory. After sinning much the Holy Spirit showed me purgatory in Church. I looked behind and they were all females on their knees and hands placed together. I did go to confession and told my sins and continue to pray. Thank you!
There is NO SUCH PLACE AS purgatory! It is a lie of the Catholic cult! If you die unsaved you go directly to hell ! If there were such a place as purgatory then everyone would get saved. key word here is WERE as in it has been done already. This clearly shows purgatory to be a lie .
@Peter Cho( All paths lead to God the Creator of mankind. The followers of God interpret the Teachings in different ways that lead to confusion. Once confusion sets in you can be sure that the only way is to simplify your beliefs. Simply believe in and honor your Creator.)
John 14:6 tells me that all paths do not lead to God and that the rest of your paragraph is false as well. Yes it does sound pious and spiritual , but anytime you have anything false put into any prophecy then you need to chuck the whole prophecy out.
1 Cor 6:11 tells me that I am washed already , I am justified already, and I am sanctified already, and there is absolutely no need for me to go anywhere for any length of time to clean up my soul, when The Lord tells me He has done it already. Your reference to Mary the queen of heaven is heretical nonsense. You obviously do not question everything as the bible tells you in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 but test everything; hold fast what is good.

There is a verse in the bible that says the dead know nothing. What does this mean?
Believe you have to read that verse in context of Ecclesiastes 9:4-6-the dead have not any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun (or on earth). Ecclesiastes is known as a pessimistic outlook on life.
The Prayer of St. Gertrude, below, is one of the most famous of the prayers for souls in purgatory. St. Gertrude the Great was a Benedictine nun and mystic who lived in the 13th century. According to tradition, our Lord promised her that 1000 souls would be released from purgatory each time it is said devoutly.
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

Pope Leo XIII warned us that there is no such prayer that is guaranteed to deliver a fixed number of souls from Purgatory. Also, the so-called Prayer of St. Gertrude was not found among her writings.
But that does not mean that this prayer is ineffectual. It actually is a very good prayer. But don't expect an automatic 1000 souls being delivered every time you say it.

The Epistle to the Hebrews says (9:27): " It is appointed to men to die once, and after that comes the judgment". Then, "Each one will receive his pay, according to his works" (1 Cor 3:8).After this judgement soul goes to Heaven, to Purgatory or to Hell. The second Judgement is called The Finał Judgement.
But don't they tell us on Ash Wednesday, dust you shall return ? So why is making ash of one's body so wrong ? It's not like we will be resurrected in 3 days.

Religious art is a help to raising the mind and heart to God. No Catholic l know adores a statue, which is only stone or plaster. The artistic representations are a method for focusing on the Divine. Two angels decorated the ark of the Covenant. The Jews knew the difference between idolatry and religious art. My own particular favorite is stained glass window. Kisses for statues, bowing in front of pictures etc are really showing love and adoration for God. The objects remind us of the gifts of God. Thank you for your concern but you really are mistaken if you think Catholics or Orthodox adore church art. Blessings

Now you listen to me very carefully. We Catholics do not pray to statues or to any idols. The figures are symbols only of a given person and are treated as such. Mary is the Mother of God-Jesus Christ and is the only human being without original sin. Jesus, hanging on the cross, said to Saint. John: "Behold your mother." Mary is the Mother of all people, including yours. I know that for you the only mediator between God and people is Jesus Christ, but Jesus Christ has His Mother, whose prayers He listens to. We do not honor saints, we only pray through their intercession. The Protestant Bible is different than the Catholic one, so don't compare it with the Catholic one! As for waking up in hell... If someday, in the future, death knocks on your door, you will see that it was not you who were right, but Catholics and the Catholic Church !
