- My youngest daughter has Down Syndrome. Today her speech therapist canceled so I decided to video my doing speech therapy at home with her. We do use an ACC device to help her communicate and build vocabulary. I also have her engage in activates that will use her vocabulary like colors, shapes and counting. _________________________________________________________________
💕I would love to keep in Touch!! 💕

Naomi is growing up so fast and I think she doing great with the talking great job mummy 👏💙
Aww Naomi 👧🏼 when you leave her alone with the 📷 camera (I 😍 love it) she tried her best to get back in her tablet, to show ‘US’ more.
Good job Naomi
Great job Naomi! Naomi is doing great and you can tell it is from all the blood, sweat and tears from her loving parents! I have a learning disability(I know not the same at all). I do not think I would have graduated from High School with out my parents working with me when I was young. Lalani and husband (sorry if I misspelled your name) keep doing the work, it does work, it just takes time❤
Where do I find the books you are using
Love these videos. It gives me so much hope for my kiddo with DS!
Awesome! That’s inspiring. My 4yo is just getting to the echo stage and I’m hoping to work more with her myself. Loved the ending too 🥰
This little girl has the best personality
Seeing you talk about her "talker app" helped convince my daughter to get her daughter who has down syndrome an iPad to help. My GrandDaughter is feisty and loving, she reminds me so much of Naomi. Thank you for all you do!!!
Really! Oh that is awesome. It's not a replacement, its a tool that helps them build their vocabulary and helps them avoid frustration. I was worried that it was a replacement. That was my concern.
Ahhh I am so glad it helped!
WHAT A CUTIE PIE.
Proud of her 👍🏽🦋🥰
So adorable and precious 💕🕊❤️
Oh my gosh she is so smart, what a little love bug,,
Hai sister... really happy to see your video... excellent
I enjoyed watching, kisses to Eve 😊
Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed this video.
so inspiring great job
So cute.. great job👍🏻 i hope my boy also can speak soon. he is 4 year's old now. 🥰
Looking ahead inspiration.
i find it so interesting in down syndrome how it effects their milestones, for example. naomi is very good at the gross motor like walking and dancing and so on skipping and running around but her speech is very delayed, and i found that in many children that started walking little after 2 even, my son is 3,5 yo and doesnt stand only crawls. but his speech is very good, he isnt communicating with sentances but he has an incredible vocabulary so i didnt need much of sign language.,, but his muscle tone is shocking
Oh my goodness! That ending was hilarious! Thank you for sharing her speech therapy. Such great ideas!
Ps. When did she start using the talker? My 4 yo daughter with DS is more verbal but it’s still often hard to understand her a lot of the time. Would you recommend a talker for her?… Or even just having her familiarizing herself with it in case it helps decrease frustration long term? Thanks!!!
You are brilliant with her and she is great, too!
Have you considered a special case that allows her to carry around her talker so that she has her voice at all times? Something sturdy, with handles. Love seeing Littles learning to use their voice 💜
That probably would be in the way when she's playing and maybe she isn't using it that often as her voice for it and i be nessesary yet and maybe her mother wants her to practise her speach and signs first. But good idea for the future if speaking keeps being too difficult for her.
Hi Keri,
So we downloaded the app on her iPad until insurance approves the purchase of her final devise. It's been a 6 month process. Today was our last and final evaluation with speech. We show get a device, that is exclusively this app, with an awesome case in approx.. 6 months.
@@LivingWithEve That is awesome!! Yay!
I said 6 months… it will be here in 6 weeks… sorry. But thank you!🤗
She’s doing so well with her talker. 😍 does it inspire her to talk more?
Yes, she's been repeating words and it builds her vocabulary.
Thursday at 9
Awesome, Bravo, Indeed! Good Job! From One Leftie to another! ;) I want to be her SLP! But I just know by her progress I have followed from her beginning, you have an amazing team! Pls tell me what the name of her talker is / app? Thank you! And btw I love handwriting without tears!!! Bye Bye Sweet Naomi - meaning ( MY JOY) and she does bring JOY into all our lives! Thanks Great Mom for starting this awesome channel!! Be safe in FL! Ciao! Friends!
btw - what were the things you started out with on the AAC device? Can you do a video strictly on this!? What was the most successful and is there a certain protocol you follow for learning the basics? Love the channel! Blessings!
one more ? - were you able to get funding for the Tobi? I went back and saw the name lol
Okay, yes I should probably do a video on that. So I bought the Tobi app on sale for $.50. Pretty awesome. However the insurance and speech department is in the process of getting us a device, with only this app, with a better case. I have 6 more weeks. With the app we started with food, toys, colors and numbers. Plus some verbs like want and eat.
You need a more sturdy stand up case for the talker. It might be frustrating for Naomi how it kept falling back so many times when you or Naomi would tap something.
Yes, so this is the app for the iPad. It works, but we are in the process of getting one with the heavy duty cases. It has to be approved by the insurance, which is taking way longer than expected. And at this point, its not worth the money to get the case. Today was her final evaluation for the insurance. They told me that it will take only 6 more month to come in the mail.
@@LivingWithEve ah I see. Thank you for your reply. I hope your insurance approves the case for Naomi.
She's just brilliant! What is the app yall are using?
It's the softwear DinoVox.
How did you get the machine? Did u buy it, get it from insurance? I need this for my son he is 3 living with ds And my speech therapist gave us a photo of the buttons on the machine but my son doesn’t care to use it cause it’s not interesting to him it seems. He just throws it but this looks like he would enjoy it like she does! Please let me know thanks
Yes, the insurance covers it. But we also use it in speech therapy twice a week. You can download an app to an iPad and it works just as well. The app is called “Snap Core”
Where do I purchase the talk board you’re using
We got them from the Insurance. Sorry.
My biggest struggle is my son has zero interest. He will do it for 3 seconds and then he’s done. We struggle with this in speech as well. She can only play with him but when she has a structured activity he turns off. Any ideas? He will be 4 in January
Have you tried reserving extra special, highly motivating activities, treats, or toys that are only bright out or allowed during AAC time?
@@gardenia77 yes I have and when he notices it’s something he has to work for he turns off.
@@verbell3573 the struggle is real. I would just keep at it and don't have something else around that he could easily just prefer. Something he really really really wants.
What is that app called on your daughter's tablet? Can you download it?
TD snap
what talker application are you using?
It's one the insurance paid for, we now have the app called snap core.
what apps?
TD Snap
How old is she? She is such a cute
this video, she was 4. Now she is 6.
Sorry, genuine question here. Why are you teaching her to use the tablet instead of how to say and pronounce the words correctly herself?
We do both. The tablet helps with visual, kinetic and auditory skill. It also builds literacy. I had the same question too but she is not attached to the tablet, she uses it in therapy and on occasion at home.
You know my daughter has Down Syndrome. Those talkers have so many steps to get to one thing! She recently started seeing a speech therapist outside school. She is teaching to pronounce! She can talk si much clearer now
