Freddy Krugger ... "he's somewhat of a tradesman". I almost choked, that was great.
FYI - The doctor at the sleep clinic is the actor who does the voice of Roger Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He is also a stand up comedian.
@MastrSF2879 Yes! He also has a *super-creepy* bit part in "Zodiac." Terrifying!
He's also Wally in Tales from the Crypt - Demon Knight. Another classic!
“Phones don’t lick.” Kat movie quote of the day.
Best quote in the video HAHAHA LMAO
mine does
@@JohnSmith-qn3ob That's not your phone.
@@RealBLAlley But it talks to me
I worked as a projectionist/usher in a theater when this came out. I watched it after hours the night before it premiered in a totally empty theater…..best theatrical experience ever.😂
Terrifying!
A totally empty theater is always the best experience, especially these days.
Brave SOB!
You must be old af 😅
That sounds so epic. ❤

Kat reacts to game of thrones?
Reaction channels are hard to do correctly, but you've already mastered the art. You play to your audience in a genuine way. Keep up the great work. :)
She _IS_ great, isn't she? I'm so glad UA-cam finally did something right, when they recommended her channel.
'Person who never liked watching horror movies reacting to the pantheon of horror movies' is a pretty good hook.
@@mediumvillain and Kat´s karate / fight stands are great :D
She has found a niche that she's perfect for. She has huge eyes and a huge mouth and does a Tex Avery cartoon-take whenever she's scared; she scares easy and she's going to watch horror movies. You don't even need the sound on, you can just laugh at her expressions.
Yes I genuinely love her honest reactions
Robert Englund's Freddy is what really makes this series SHINE. He's a charismatic bad guy. Makes it SO entertaining and it holds up so well. There is a documentary about the making of this where they built the Room for the house on a big rotation device. The practical effects in this are WILD. As always your reaction is fantastic. I agree with Aaron, you are a NATURAL. These are genuinly some of the BEST reaction vids in youtube. SO GOOD. I now look forward to these every week.
"A very real somebody threw a rock at her window." She's actually already dreaming. Possibly the best thing about this movie is that all of the gripes people have watching slasher films are knocked out by the fact that we do weird shit in our dreams. Why does Tina go outside in her boyfriend's shirt with no shoes on? It's a dream.
Was a shirt not a gown
The First time I ever saw Robert Englund in anything it was in a show, in the 80's, called "V". His character in V was the complete opposite of Freddy. In V his character's name was "Willie" who was a very shy, soft spoken, gentle person. It's amazing how he played 2 characters who were so opposite from each other.
Robert Englund would definitely be Jeb the Goat.
@@strangeblackman3477 He would be Jeb the Goat.
I loved the "V" miniseries! I still watch it every few years for the memories
V is awesome. I still watch it from time to time.
I loved your realization of Lin Shaye, the teacher aka Elise from Insidious. I love her so much! And I also loved her brother, Robert Shaye's (founder of New Line Cinema) cameos in some of the sequels. This is definitely one of my favorites. Awesome reaction!
HI AVAUNA!!! Oh my goodness... I LOVE HER TOO!!! She was just the best ever in Insidious... Seeing her in this was as TREAT!! And learning about her brother who started New Line Cinema was so interesting!!! It's really cool to see the same production companies popping up in these movies... I don't think I've ever noticed that before this channel. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING WITH ME!!!! Have a great week!!!KAT:D
She is also great in the video game The Quarry.
I remember her most as the landlady in kingpin
There is a fan theory that she was very messed up when so many of her students died. People thought she was crazy because she could communicate with the dead students. She quit teaching and became a medium... and is the same character in insidous..and that all the hauntings in that ( and all the other movies ) were actually Freddy Kreuger trying messing with her!!!!!!! The nun is Freddy Kreuger!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He cameos in this as well in voice form as the newsreader reporting on Tina's death, and can also be heard saying "It is now 12 Midnight, and this is Station KRGR leaving the air" on the TV on Glen's lap before Freddy pulls him into the bed
Hi Kat.. Keeping in mind that this is 1984, the effects you see are all practical. One of the most impressive, was Freddy stretching out of the wall over the bed. A short effect, but at the time, no one had ever seen it done before..
Yup. A spandex wall was used for that shot.
The blood vortex was also incredibly impressive, but also almost went horribly wrong (IIRC one of the cranes or something that they were using to rotate the room let go, and the whole thing went sliding across the set; luckily, nobody was injured, but it was a close call).
That’s not what I remember hearing dartigens. The weight of the blood caused the rotating room to be unbalanced and it spun out of control making it hard to film and they had to do it several times.
OK Kat is officially my favourite movie reactor!
She definitely has a personality on her, doesn’t she?
_MINE TOO!!!!!_ No contest.
@@nsasupporter7557 so endearing
@@nsasupporter7557 Oh yes!
I love watching her reactions, she's so funny
I haven’t laughed as hard as, “She’s sleeping, phones don’t lick” in a long time 😂😂😂
Fright Night 1985 Please! 😂
Your reaction and little remarks during movies make me laugh so much! 🤣
Freddy's a dream demon basically indestructible. he's honestly the last horror villain id want coming after me but I don't usually dream anyway so I think I'd be immune. lol
"I already relate to this guy!" Yeeeeeah about that... 😁
Great reaction to a classic horror movie, and yes Nancy is a great protagonist and more than a worthy adversary to Freddy.
When you recognized with a look of endearment the actress from Insidious, it was then that I knew you were one of us. You made my day. :)
The thing I’m loving about your channel and reactions specifically is that a lot of the times, you end up liking these movies and I love seeing it. Lol. It’s so cool. It’s almost like an immersion therapy; face your fears sort of thing. A lot of horror movies are just good movies in general and it’s cool watching you navigate that. Thank you for all the fun as always. ❤️🙂
The teacher is Lynn Shaye. Shes a scream Queen. Been in so many horror movies but shes also just a great actress and shes HILARIOUS. Shes in the cult classic “Kingpin” w Woody Harrelson, Bill Murray and Randy Quaid. She has an iconic scene lmao…
Uh no. Just being in horror movies does not make you a scream queen. To be a scream queen you have to be in peril and do a lot of screaming. She’s rarely ever the one in peril in the movies she’s in.
8:16 --- Robert Englund without the makeup in an uncredited shot.
Yes, the teacher is Linn Shay...sister of NEW LINE CINEMA creator and president Bob Shay. She was there from the beginning of Freddy. In fact, New Line is was originally known as "The House That Freddy Built"
Kat: "But he wears a Christmas sweater all year around." 😆 Nice reaction Kat, now it's on to Nightmare 2, because they have to come in pairs.
LOL thank you for catching that line Cowboy!! HE WAS THOUGH RIGHT?!?!?! KAT:D
@KatWatchesHorror 2 can easily be skipped without missing anything. It doesn’t really add to the story. The only connection it has is it’s on elm street, has Freddy and the MC lives in Nancy’s old house. If you want to continue the saga of Nancy watch part 3 and then new nightmare. There’s also a fan made film that’s a continuation of New Nightmare with one of the stars of that film playing the same role called Dylan’s Nightmare ( I think).
"Phones don't lick"
Words to live by!! 😂😂
the actress that played the teacher is Lyn Shaye
This channel is quickly becoming my new favorite. I love this movie and Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Freddy is terrifying and such a smart ass. This movie is so iconic.
From 1988-1990 (2 seasons) there was a horror anthology series based in the town of Springwood (where Freddy isn't the only supernatural happenings apparently) hosted by Robert Englund as Freddy. The pilot and a few other episodes were about Freddy, with the pilot actually being his origin story starting with his trial in which he gets off on a technicality, then starts going after the then sheriff's little girls, then the parents all corner him in the old warehouse and kill him. Unfortunately it's never been released on home video and is not current streaming anywhere (it was on Tubi for awhile, but was removed recently.)
Someone put the entire series up on the internet archive. I started watching it for the nostalgia. It's actually one of the worst television shows ever made. Absolutely terrible.
Your suggestion about some good coffee ending the movie early is funny.
Originally there is a scene when Nancy is trying to stay awake. She is eating instant coffee out of the jar, washing it down with Jolt Cola, and taking "diet pills" all to stay awake. In the 90s College and High School school kids were dying from taking "diet pills" to stay awake and cram for tests. They removed the scene from all copies of this movie so as not to promote using "diet pills" to keep awake.
I think the idea that there was such a wave of deaths was more a moral panic than an actual thing (see: '80s Satanism panic, current anti-trans nonsense, etc), but still, very interesting! Thanks!
The moral panic could possibly have gotten boosted by the Fen-phen scandal of the early '90s, where a heavily-marketed diet-pill combo did actually kill and injure a bunch of people via cardiovascular damage (causing some $21 billion in liability so far), but those drugs were never really used as anti-sleep aids, recreationally or otherwise. It's pretty hard to OD on caffeine, as the LD50 for humans is somewhere between 200-350 mg/kg, so you'd basically have to eat even pure caffeine by the handful (and it is not tasty stuff; very bitter).
plz watch part 3! a certain legend returns!
As a first timer to your channel I had fun watching this. Your reactions are genuine and top notch. Laughed out loud at a lot of them and your sharp and witty humor. "No time to get pants!", "You're sleeping, phones don't lick!", "Your mom just got dragged down to a blueish hell!" Thumbs up and subscribed.
I appreciate that you're, essentially, doing what I did when I was 8. I binged every horror movie I could find until I wasn't afraid anymore 🤣.
Kat I love your reactions they are so genuine and I just love that about you. I agree with so many of your comments especially about these Wes Craven films. Here is one that I think is underrated. It's called Shocker and it has all the camp elements of a great Wes Craven film but I think the bad guy is pretty intense in scenes and just feel you will enjoy it. Thank you so much for putting yourself out there like you do for all of us to enjoy. On a personal note I have had some rough past 5 years and have become somewhat of a recluse due to lack of mobility from health issues and I stumbled on your channel by accident and it's been so great. I now watch you and a few others and it really does help me feel as though I have friends to watch movies with. I can't put into words how much it has lifted my spirits and has me focused on getting better for the first time in a long time versus just waiting to die. That sounds dramatic I know but I was in a dark place and these got me thinking maybe there is more I could do simply because I was feeling like I was socializing I guess. I got back with my doctor got on some depression meds for the first time and it's helping and I feel like I'm on a much better path and I thank you and other youtube reactors for the role you have played in my life. Honestly your channel was the first one I stumbled upon and I was smiling and laughing at some of your quick witted comments and it felt like I was introducing you to the film. Thank you so much Kat for being a genuine person and putting this content out there. I just wish I could do more but for now my thanks is all I really have to give but please know it's from the heart. I hope you give Shocker a try and I will begin commenting and making more suggestions but they won't be novel's and like this one. Hope it wasn't too long. Thanks again, take care and God Bless you and your family.
Thank you for reacting to my favorite horror movie of all time. Freddy Kruger is the stuff of nightmares. Nancy Thompson is one of the best final girls ever. RIP to Wes Craven, he may be gone but his spirit will live on forever. 🙏❤
Man I can barely watch this. My favorite horror film of all time. Still creeps me out big time. The first time I saw it I had to walk home by myself in a forest passage with thick mist in the dark. I was only 11 most horrifying.
I was 8 yrs old when I first watched it and it scared the hell out of me, I had trouble trying to sleep for the first couple days, but it turned me into the horror fanatic that I am today.
The reason why Nancy survived multiple Freddy dreams in this movie is simple... this whole movie is one long nightmare that Nancy had. We never saw the 'real world' in this movie, it was all Nancy's dream. Freddy Krueger was never real and all the events around that character never happened. Her friends are all still alive and are probably not the way we saw in this movie because it was her dream representation of them. It's only because of this movie's success that the sequels happened. Wes Craven never intended for this movie to become a franchise, it was supposed to be a one and done movie but Robert Shaye (New Line Cinema producer and Lin Shaye's brother) saw the film dailies and saw sequel potential. He had Wes Craven tack on an open-ending designed for a sequel. That's why Freddy returned at the end of the movie
Re: the whole movie being a dream. Is that a fact or your personal theory? (either way, I like it)
@BostonAmy wes craven put clues through the whole movie. The start of the movie had Freddy making the glove followed by Tina having the nightmare... but Nancy says she dreamt of a guy making the glove. How did Nancy's phone ring after she ripped it out of the wall if she's awake? Glen said if someone creates a monster in their dreams, they turn their back on it and it wastes energy and disappears. If he kills you in your dream, you're dead for real? The very concept is ridiculous in real life. Nancy's mother sinking into the bed was what made Nancy realise it was all a dream
Hi Kat, I remember vividly the very first time I saw "A Nightmare on Elm Street" back in 1984. The shock of it stayed with me to this day and I truly enjoy seeing you and other reactors viewing it for the first time.
This is Johnny Depp's film debut at the age of 21 years old. He starred in the teen TV series "21 Jump Street" (1987-1991) which skyrocketed his career.
Sleep deprivation psychosis is a real thing. If you don't get sleep, a person will begin to develop symptoms of psychosis such as: confused thinking, false beliefs, changed feelings and changed behaviors. Nancy was definitely at that level after staying awake for more than 7 days straight.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Randy Gardner from San Diego, California, set the record for the longest amount of time a human has gone without sleep. In December 1963/January 1964, 17-year-old Gardner stayed awake for 11 days and 25 minutes, breaking the previous record of 260 hours held by Tom Rounds. You can imagine what that poor guy had gone through. 😆
"SCREW SLEEP!" 😆😆😆
Freddy Kreuger coming out from Nancy's bedroom wall is a great PRACTICAL effect. It's the first of its kind ever done.
You'll find this so hard to believe but when Nancy says that she looks 20 years old, she's poking fun at herself Heather Langenkamp was 30 years old playing the role of a teenage girl! Canyabuhleevit? 😆😆😆 No wonder she had white hair after grabbing Freddy's hat when coming out of her nightmare!
Freddy is getting revenge on the Elm Street parents by coming after their children. He is, after all, a child killer. 🤡
It is VERY DANGEROUS when you see a person set on fire in a film. I worry so much for the stunt actors! When Freddy gets burned by Nancy, I'm counting the time on how long the stunt actor is lit. It sends chills down my spine every time! They deserve extra pay! 😆
The reason why Nancy's dad doesn't use keys to get back in the house is because his parents are separated so he no longer has a set of keys to the place.
The ending scene really messes with you because it's ambiguous. Is the entire film a dream? Which scenes are real and which are dreams? The final scene appeared slightly hazy which led me to believe that Nancy is dreaming. Her mom getting yoinked through the tiny window is unforgettable! 🪟
I'm so glad that you enjoyed this cult classic. Go as far as #3 and also watch "New Nightmare" (1994) and skip the rest. I would not recommend the reboot (2010). It wasn't good, in my opinion. 📽❤️
Heather Langenkamp was 20 years old when filming the original film, NOT 30. And the character she was playing was 15 years old.
Wes Craven wanted the film to end with Nacy having beaten Freddy completely. But the studio saw the potential for a sequel..so they made him film the additional scene of Nancy leaving with her friends to set up for a sequel.
"Stay in your bush until I tell you to come out!" If I had a nickel for every time I've been told that...
The Nightmare on Elm Street series was my go to series when I was younger! Glad to see you reacting to this.
Ah, Frederick Krueger. My favorite cinematic villain since Count Dracula.
I always look forward to your reactions! I have seen all of these movies before, but you still manage to make me anxious while I am watching along with you. Anxiety and lots of laughs. The perfect recipe. Thanks so much!
You can't argue with Freddy's craftmanship. These claws are tight! 😄
14:00 "The hunted has become the hunted!" How ironic!
Robert Englund is a legend!! No one will ever replace him in these movies!!
For me it is the practical effects that make this movie amazing. Much more terrifying than CGI. Man, I miss practical effects. They are so rare nowadays.
Fun fact: Heather Langenkamp married an sfx artist and they worked on Cabin in the Woods together
My favorite thing about Freddy is his comedic timing. Great lines! Everytime he says something I think, that would be great on a shirt. 😂
Every time your hand goes up with one finger pointing, I just expect you to say ”Redrum”. 😊
Love your reactions ❤
This movie was inspired by actual events. Kind of late to the party here so you probably won’t read this but this info would probably really mess with your noodle. There was a rash of bizarre unexplained deaths among refugees from asia in the 1970’s, they all died in their sleep, they were all young, healthy and i believe exclusively male with no real cause of death. There were a few who survived, they claimed they were attacked in their sleep by some being. In a couple of the cases the attack was witnessed by their wives who woke them up which presumably saved them from dying. In at least one of the these cases the survivor ended up dying in their sleep eventually anyhow. Look it up (if you read this, lol) there are a few articles about it and the youtube channel Bedtime Stories did an episode on it, i believe this being is called the dab tsog and it came from asian mythology or urban legends.
I lover her reactions when nothing has happened yet but she anticipates a jump scare coming and then when it does happen it's even better. I find it totally amusing and almost charming and adorable in a way.
I don't understand why you don't have millions of subscribers. I guess... Good things come to those who wait! 👻
The teacher in the classroom, her real name is Lin Shaye. Not only has she been in the Insidious movies as well as a whole career of comedies and other films, but her brother Bob Shaye is the producer of the Nightmare franchise, the founder of production company New Line Cinema that has a long prosperous career of producing great movies.
This was Your first reaction I saw. Freddy is a pop culture icon. You should definitely watch all the movies in the series. They all have something unique in them... "Welcome to the prime time..." :D
Robert Englund is Freddy so when they tried to "reboot" the sieries with a new main actor Jackie Earle Haley it failed spectacularly. So I reccomand only movies with Robert Englund in the main role. Also Freddy vs Jason - it is fun...
You are bit like Freddy - hear me out before trying to kill me! :D
You are witty, funny. You have great likable personality and You are charismatic. Like many people already pointed out You very quickly became my absolutley favorite reactionist. I may not like the movie You are watching but I will still watch with joy to hear and see You lady Kat. I also don't like to watch horrors (I used to) brcause I have vivid imagination and after seeing something scary it stays with me for a long time. It is not fun when your imagination is making you see things in your dreams...
But I think that Your statment at the beginning is no longer very true. I see that You enjoy watching them more and more... :)

@KatWatchesHorror Hey Kat! Thx for the reply! I was part of your live stream and got in a couple of suggestions that you wrote down: The Cell (2000) [w/Jennifer Lopez, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Vince Vaughn. Not a jump scare movie mainly a dark visually stunning thriller] & Happy Death Day (2017) [Perfect Horror/Comedy for April Fool's Day/Week]. I also HIGHLY recommend The Amityville Horror (1979) [w/ Margot Kidder & James Brolin - Josh Brolin's father, based on the story the Lutz family], Poltergeist (1982), Salem's Lot (1979) [Stephen King adaptation made for TV as a 2 episode mini-series], these movies scared the heck out of me as a kid! Also Jaws (1975) & Jaws II (1978) terrified the world. People still get terrified of these today. Enjoy & Keep up the awesome work! And make those "No! Please!" T-Shirts happen! I still want one!

idk if anyone has already said this.... but the producer added the ending with the car and the mom through the door window bit as an open door for a sequel. the original ending was freddy turning to stars.
this is such a fun channel! i'm not even into reaction videos but i love your content! you're so funny! everyone needs someone like you in their lives. unfortunately, i live in ohio so no such luck lol. but seriously, keep up the great work :)
80s horror movies are the best! Great reaction as always, just here to put my 2 cents in for Children Of The Corn or The Mist ☺
Both Stephen King adaptations. "Big Driver", "A Good Marriage" and "Cujo" are also good SK adaptations (among many).
Yes. But I hope she watches the B&W version of "The Mist".
Lin Shaye... I would watch that woman on loop read the ingredients in a box of Pop Tarts. She's truly become a horror queen.
I haven't seen Insidious, but I know Lin Shaye best from Kingpin (1996). Although Kingpin is a comedy, Shaye's role is indeed horrifying. 🤣
That woman from Insidious is Lin Shaye. She's been knocking around for yeeeeears. She's also the ridiculously tanned old woman in There's Something About Mary.
I love that part where Nancy falls asleep in class and the guy reading Shakespeare's voice changes to that unsettling whisper.
It's a great example of how sounds you hear while asleep can intrude on dreams.
Daryl Hannahs brother
@@rosefarrell2440 Didn't know that, but I see the resemblance. Thanks for the movie trivia nugget.
As this series went on it just became straight comedy.
@8:36 She's also from There's Something about Mary & Kingpin. 😊
My favorite horror movie, something about how he can invade your mind and use your fears against you when your most vulnerable is very scary to me
"Freddy Krueger obviously got to his jersey." 🤣🤣🤣
I loved the Simpson's version of this film where groundskeeper Willie is Freddy.
Also, a fan film is being released on UA-cam in two days starring the actor who played Heathers fictional son in the 7th film. Hes playing Dylan all grown up and i doubt it but we are all hoping for a Heather Langenkamp cameo....🤞🏻 And one last thing i wanted to say was you were very entertaining to watch. I dont usually enjoy reaction videos but I've seen the Freddy movies dozens of times and it was nice to see it thru a fresh set of eyes. Your reactions were priceless 😂 thanks for the laughs 👍🏻
Great spoilers there.., you could have just said a fan film that’s a sequel to New Nightmare with a star from it reprising his role and then added the title.
Love your reactions lines. " He's a man you only can find in your dreams ". You know him because " He wears a Christmas sweater year round".😊
20:55 - see that's a big clue that the whole movie was a dream. Nancy is supposed to be awake so how is Freddy calling her? There are other clues throughout the movie that also give hints that it's all a dream. Glen's line of turning your back on it and it disappears...
Fun Fact: This was actually Johnny Depp's film debut back in 1984. He was a musician before he transitioned into movies. Also, Depp was 21 when he did this movie.
The Sergeant in this one is the Sheriff in Scream which you should definitely watch.
Hey Kat! fun fact Wes Craven actually did this movie first and went on to do SCREAM and continued the franchise (1-4) before the new directors came in also the sheriff in this movie is the same one in SCREAM 👻
Special effects are incredible in this film. Scene with blood coming out of the bed is actually a room upside down and I think they also used it for Tina's death. Love your reactions to these classics, are you planning on watching the sequels?
From what I remember it was a rotating room and the blood scene caused some problems because it unbalanced the room and caused it to spin out of control or something like that
This is a franchise where you really HAVE to watch them ALL.....fantastic reaction
Hiya Kat ☺️ Ohh The nightmare series and the film that literally built New Line Cinema. You might say that without Freddy, Lord of the Rings wouldn’t be the film we know today because of that lol 😂
So, Wes Craven (and you will see his work often on your horror channel hopefully) is the writer and directs. People say this was his breakout movie but his debut was “The last house on the left” in 1972 and he also did “The hills have eyes” in 1977 before Nightmare in 1984.
I think people see nightmare as his breakout film because it taps into that very popular teen horror scene at the time and brings us something we have never seen before, being hunted and killed in your dreams .
Freddy was vastly different as well with that
strong visual look, back story and unlike Jason and Michael, Freddy has dialogue, come backs, witty one liners and a lot of his most memorable scenes are spoken which needed a good character actor and Robert Englund does that job extremely well.
I think what makes nightmare work is the setting and the circumstances. With Halloween, don’t live in Haddon field, don’t be a babysitter, keep your doors and windows locked, check, check, and double check 🤔 Friday 13th, don’t go camping, don’t be a camp counsellor, check and check👍🏼
But with nightmare it’s set in “every town” USA, could be anywhere, in the suburbs, your neighbourhood. And the big one, sleeping, dreaming…we all do it, we have to. No locking up or moving away from that, no where to run or escape so it resonates more with the audience perhaps 🤔
The special effects are particularly good thanks to Jon Doyle and Charles Bernstein brings us a nice melodic 80’s musical score and of course the “1-2” nursery rhyme which you can’t help humming lol
The assembled cast do a decent job but l always felt that the “teens” performances weren’t the greatest compared to perhaps Friday or even Halloween’s cast but I think Freddy more than steals the show anyways so that can be forgiven.
So, Nightmare on Elm Street: Saved and built a major film company, brought us another iconic horror villain, introduced us to a very young Johnny Depp in his first ever film, launched Wes Craven firmly into the horror and film scene in general and started a huge franchise to rival that of Friday and Halloween.
Another fabulous reaction Kat ☺️ and l look forward to the next one 👍🏼
Minor note: breakout and debut are not the same thing. In Hollywood, a breakout may not happen for an actor or director until many years into their career.
There are also, of course, rare occasions when the breakout comes _with_ the debut.
@@JakkFrost1 agreed
“That’s the REAL horror of this movie!”
“Wouldn’tcha like to know?”

We need merch …now!
Tina's death scene haunted me for days. I was pretty young when I first saw this movie and my mind couldn't even process what I was seeing. I was terrified. Despite that, I became a lifelong horror fan afterwards.
during the franchising theres a couple deaths that are very difficult to watch. Now, Tina´s is very disturbing, specially because we assume she is the lead female. Till her death, Nancy is just in the background, and Tina's is the one who is having all the focus. Plus we are still trying to understand how the dynamics of the killings are working. For me, the screams add so much more effect that the visuals...
That's actually normal. I had a horror movie scare the heck out of me when I was like 8 (40 years later and I still get the shivers remembering the scene that scared me) and have loved horror movies ever since.
Fun fact thats robert shaye's sister and the kid that was reading while whispering i have bad dreams is Darryl hannas' younger brother yes the one from kill bill who got her eyes snatched out and the doctor at western hills played the voice of roger rabbit
Scared the crap out of me when it came out. Yet in the early 90s my late Mum knitted me a red and black striped jumper to go with the hat, my bladed glove and full head Freddie Kruger head mask. It was a my Halloween setup for years lol
Rod's death makes me laugh every time I see it as strangling someone to death takes a lot longer. I watched countless horror films in the 80's.
If you watch that part closely, you can hear his neck snap/crunch!!! Freddy broke his neck, not strangled him with the sheet
The teacher played Magda in There's something about Mary and the landlady in Kingpin.
Freddy must a special phone plan from ATT&T....the "Reach out and tongue somebody". 🤭😂
Freddy scared the life out of me as a kid, now I hate doing taxes. Idk how to reason any of this dialogue, but keep watching these "scary" collection of TV greats to share those awesome reactions with the world. They certainly ease the anxieties of adult life and tax season lol.
11:24 Freddy was able to kill Tina because Tina was still asleep, although in the real world it appeared as though she were awake. Nancy woke herself up (purposely burning her arm on the pipe) before Freddy was able to kill her.
Every dream sequence is lit like an Argento scene.
So the ending was originally supposed to be more definitive, with Freddy being vanquished and Nancy returning to her life, but the studio wanted it to have a more ambiguous ending to allow for possible sequels, so the ending you saw was what was released. So yeah the ending is supposed to be where Nancy is still dreaming, but her fate is a mystery.
I saw this on TV when I was a kid since I was too young to see it in the theater and even back then I didn't think Freddy was scary, especially that scene with his elongated arms chasing Tina down the street...was too goofy looking 🤣. I still ❤ the film series though, so much fun! 🥰
I never thought he was scary and would sing the song to scare my older sister because she was terrified of him
"Hi, I'm Kat, and I hate horror movies!"
From that moment on, you got me...
Now, go take a nap... 🛌
4:22, Freddy Krueger, in a nutshell.
Also, the best part about the first movie that even through me for a loop, when I first watched it as a teenager, which was that the whole movie was nancy Dreaming the whole time. The whole damn movie was her dreaming. And that was the twist at the twist ending.
The Relic, Mimic, Deep Rising, Ghost Ship, Smile, House
Her teacher was also in Kingpin as Roy Munsons landlady.
Life goals: finding a friend/significant other like Kat, willing to go outside their comfort zone and watch films they ordinarily wouldn’t.
(I have boring friends.)
Watching your reactions takes me back to the first time I ever saw these movies, when I was just a kid :)
your reaction when he grab the mother through the door, I was dying laughing...lol you reaction was awesome. And Glen he just slept through the whole movie, I don't understand how he live that long through the film...lol Nancy stayed awake for 7 - days and he slept while everyone was getting murdered.
Hey Kat, I love watching your reviews. You’re the best. You have to watch Nightmare on Elm Street part 2 and 3. All six parts are worth watching. Also, Wes Cravens New Nightmare was great.
Keep doing what you do. PLEASE!😂
2 cab easily be skipped without missing anything. Honestly most can be skipped. Only essential sequels are 3 and new nightmare
21:19 "phones don't lick "
Instantly reminded of Wolowitz and Koothrapali on The Big Bang Theory!😅
“Phones don’t lick!!” 🤣🤣🤣
This fellow Canadian enjoys watching your reactions. Cheers!
Classic! Great reaction. _All_ your reactions are great. Anyway, for a long time, I never noticed that Freddy was throwing _teeth_ at Tina’s window. It’s so hard to see it, though, even in HD and a huge TV. I think its a molar that gets stuck in the window. Also, ever since _Halloween,_ you have to pay a fine if your horror movie has teen girls but no creepy classroom scene. It’s like $500 or something.
Love this movie so much and actually this movie is what put New Line Cinema on the map and the beginning of what it has become today.
Wes actually got the idea for this movie from a true story he read in the paper about a boy dying in his sleep and that got Wes thinking 'well what killed him then?' and the idea for Freddy was born. Love Robert as Freddy and honostly he is the only one fit for the part in my mind. Robert actually gave himself a scare ones because he fell asleep in his trailor with the makeup on and when he woke up he saw his reflection in the mirror thinking that Freddy was there for a moment and then he laughed relizing what happened haha.
When you were trying to determine the rules, it occurred to me. One of the cool things in this movie that adds creepiness is that in a dream, anything you can imagine could happen. Or anything that Freddy imagines!!
the woman from insidious is the Producers sister. she was hilarious in Something about Mary and Kingpin
The teacher is Lynn Shaye, her brother Robert Shaye produced all the Freddy movies and has a small cameo in some.
Recommendations: The Strangers, Psycho, The Witch, 28 Days Later, Silence of the Lambs, Jaws, Midsommar, Final Destination, Saw, Get Out, The House of thr Devil, VHS, and Cloverfield
The whole series is a trip. The best are 1, 3,4 and New Nightmare.
