- For anyone never seeing a wig wag railroad signal in operation, here ya go. Although the signals do not operate officially, they were manually run during the Wig Wag Celebration ceremony in Pt. Richmond, CA on 28jul19. You will be able to see the mechanism inside the wig wag in this video. The BNSF Richmond yard is just out of the video to the right. A beautiful slice of history for Richmond, CA.
They installed new siganls there not too long ago like a few years eariler. But the cool thing about this crossing now is that THE WIG WAGS ARE STILL THERE. But it’s sad they only activate during events.
They now activate if a train comes
@@SignalMan9292really? Show me proof with the signals and wigwags activated
@@SignalMan9292 they do not operate except for special occasions. They are not connected to the track circuit.
😊😊й😊😊❤
These should be used in addition to the modern gate and light combos.
WOW! Thanks for posting!
Way cool. I’ve seen the one in Niles Canyon and saw the one in Oakdale activated once back in the 90s
KING OF WIG WAG!
Not officially anymore, eh? The last time I was there, they were.
Awesome!
I would like to see both crossings activate
Sadly to say that the only activate during events
Do they even use the railroad anymore?
Yes. I live a block from here. BNSF Richmond yard is a busy yard with lots of Units, Autoracks, Tankers and some Intermodal. They do a lot of switching in the middle of night and pull blocks out on the single track lead (past the wig wags) before backing them into the yard.
atleast all day at event
Yay but they don’t activate with the other signals they only activate
During events
I’m super happy that he’s to train signals where restored
are those signs still there?
Cool 😂😂😂😂😂😤
