I agree. You can walk into almost any hole built early 90s or before and it feels solid. We have a lot of people who don’t want “old homes” more than 20 years old. I get that the floor plans may not be optimal, but homes with copper, hardwood floors, solid doors-they aren’t going anywhere.
I think existing construction used better materials. This is especially true on lumber.
