Dude, you make Hodinkee and every other watch channel look like school boys. Love your amazing style. Sophisticated, to the point and with great wit. Bravo!
The six months to get my U50 on black rubber was well worth the wait....it gets a lot of wrist time. And I have to disagree about the hands, they add to the uniqueness of this special watch.
With its overall look, it competes directly with the Tudor Pelagos. And the fact that they’re able to pack 500m into such a thin package makes me hopeful that they may be able to slim the Pelagos out (fingers crossed)
I have a small 6.25inch wrist and I went U1. Felt like that’s how it meant to be. I didn’t get the full T cuz it was available in store at the time. Watch was bday gift for myself and I didn’t want to wait, so far still no regrets.
I just picked up a used U50 S, all black, with bracelet and a red rubber strap included. So now that I paid for it, I'm looking at reviews, lol! I've been looking at them for years, actually. I always liked the U1, but thought it was too big for me. I've been keeping an eye out for a used U50, but wanted the all black version on red rubber, which is the version they show on the cover on the owner's manual. I must say I love the handset - something about the Minecraft/Lego vibe appeals to me.
I was definitely infatuated with this watch, and at one point expected it to be on my wrist as a future purchase. A thin but mighty tool watch that sports a wonderfully unique design and presence. Over time, my interests took a new direction, notably vintage case design. So when the Squale Sub-39mon walked past with her sexy lugs, well this time it was true love. I still admire the U50, and hope to try one on the wrist someday, but like many watches realized that we would only ever "just be friends."
It’s kind of funny how a lot of watches go hand in hand with us collectors, such as Tudor BB58 and Sinn U50 does. As a handsome dude with a 7in wrist, the Tudor Black Bay 58 has been a favorite of mine for a couple of years now due to its size, styling and wearability. The U50 has been on my radar for quite some time, for the same reasons as I love my Tudor, and I especially love the unique “Minecraft” handset, as well as, the U50’s toughness and scratch resistance. Currently, I do not have the budget for both, or I would most certainly compliment my blue black bay with the u50. Maybe one day…
Just got one. I'm amazed how thin it is considering the 500m rating. It wears smaller than I expected and even on my small wrist, perhaps could have gone with U1. I love the tech they use and always wanted a German watch. If one is going to get that watch, get "T" model for sure.
Recently purchased the Sinn u50, but, went for the" Mother of Pearl dial" which is unique. Though the original with the grey bezel aesthetically is stunning as a tool watch. Great to find your channel!
The only problem with the U50 is the existence of the U1 and the UX and my 7.25" wrist. The U50 is great for anyone with wrists under 7" but once you get above 7, the U1 really pops. It's imposing size and tool-like nature really shine. Great video!
UA-cam is sorely lacking a review of the Sinn 105 St Sa W and the St Sa UTC, two watches that I happen to be very interested in. Would love to see one from You're Terrific!
Received one of the first shipments of the fully tegimented U50 and unfortunately the movement in mine completely seized up and wouldn’t run. Super frustrating because I was so stoked about the whole U50 concept, and while I know I shouldn’t let an anomaly salt my opinion, just couldn’t love the watch after that. With that said it’s nearly perfect in all dimensions and specs for a versatile tool watch.
I ordered this T version the minute I saw it announced. Had to wait 4 months for it but it’s worth it. Having it since October last year and wear it half of the time. The only thing that bothers me is the clasp, a bit outdated. My only nitpick. PS: the other half of the time I wear black bay 58 :)
Great presentation lov my U50T. Technology style true tool diver watch that’s durable. Owning Sinn and wearing one for a while will make you a brand loyalist. Dial and handset remind me of LEGO blocks. Very easy to read. Keep the presentations and thoughts coming. Stay healthy and safe.
Great vid! I have a U1 SE and its a tank! I actually contacted Sinn and asked if there was alternate hands available ( non leggo). They laughed at me of course!
Funny you mentioned Tudor black bay, I'm watching videos on the U50 debating if I should get it over the Tudor... want something with a black casing & I forget what it was called but the scratch resistance part was some good info to know, thanks!
I recently picked up and reviewed the U50-T SDR version. I knew I wanted one as soon as they were announced. My 6.5" wrist cannot support the U1. I really like the styling of this watch. However the bracelet clasp is a disappointment for a $3,000 watch. Also, the alignment is off on my bezel.
I have a nice collection of Rolex and omega, but I need a daily utilitarian work watch that I’m not afraid to clank around. My next purchase will definitely be a sinn, but I keep going back and forth between the 104 and the 556irs. And now, damn. Thanks for making my decision harder! It is a sick piece
@@giusepperocchi2979 true that’s a good point. And the 556’s size make it much more practical. But the more I look at the u50 black bezel, the more I’m leaning towards it!
You didn't mention the U Boat steel case, harder than stainless steel and superior salt water corrosion resistance. The SW200 movement is the "high grade" offering and they use Sinn lubricants inside. IMHO the best tool diver available.
Great video with some lovely close up shots of this superb watch. Like others, I love the 'Lego' hands. So unique, so Germanic, so tool watch. The steel shade is great too. Looks like aluminium.
I just started researching different Sinn dive variants and came across this vid. Awesome work man!!! Have you had a chance to handle or see the T50? It's slightly taller at 12.3, made of titanium, and has the sword hand set from the U2. I'm strongly leaning in that direction currently.
Great video! Very similar handset on the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe. I assume it is meant to maximize lume, in an industrial sense, not for looks. I like it!
The reason why it's beat blasted is so it doesn't pick up any reflections from the sun, which comes in very handy if you're a sniper hiding in the mountains for example. Same goes for the beat blasted Hamilton kaki field.
Fantastic piece! I like the honesty in saying you love it but won't buy it. Doesn't hold anything against the watch but lets us know, does pull at any of your heartstrings (but it might for others)
I'd say the Sinn T2 is a better comparison, of course it's discontinued, but with this release taking off im hoping they bring it back, love the content, keep it up!
I had the U50 S. It was cool, but on my 6.5” wrist, I couldn’t get the right size on the bracelet for me. I realized I’m not a dive watch sorta guy anyway, stick with my 126200 DJ36 as my daily and G Shock for everything else.
I’ve been tempted to buy the all black U50 on rubber as an outdoor beater/adventure watch. I actually love the hands. The only issue is I already own a Pelagos and a Damasko DC80 for that stuff and I think the U50 is too toolish for everyday wear, at least for me. Very cool watch, though. Thanks for the review.
You are a hell of a good reviewer. Glad I found the channel. I wonder, could Sinn do a polished tegimented case. Not on this watch but say a 556 that would be cool.
That’s an awesome watch but you forgot to mention the Demasko watches which are in tue same league as Sinn. Damasko used to make cases for Sinn but they now make their own bad ads watches. Look up the DC86
I like the U50. I would pull the trigger if it had a more monochrome colorway, not a fan of red. I have a 42 pelagos and it’s just too big for me, though it is still an amazing looking watch. Ah, watches…
Sinn has been using that clasp for at least 20 years. I had an old B&R manufactured by Sinn and the clasp looked identical. While it functioned fine too keep the watch on your wrist, it is cheap stamped steel, it's all held together by friction, and it's often quite hard to open sometimes. And worst if all, it just looks very cheap. Seiko and Doxa divers have the same problem with cheap clasps. It seems like a silly own-goal on all their parts. Microbrands put out product for 1/5th the price with dramatically better clasps than this Sinn.

The six months to get my U50 on black rubber was well worth the wait....it gets a lot of wrist time.

With its overall look, it competes directly with the Tudor Pelagos. And the fact that they’re able to pack 500m into such a thin package makes me hopeful that they may be able to slim the Pelagos out (fingers crossed)
Yeah like this is slimmer than my bb58 lol
Your Pelagos wish was answered. Kind of. What do you think of the 39mma?
The 39 mm Pelagos is one of the hottest watches out right now
I have a small 6.25inch wrist and I went U1. Felt like that’s how it meant to be. I didn’t get the full T cuz it was available in store at the time. Watch was bday gift for myself and I didn’t want to wait, so far still no regrets.

Love my U50, it gets more time on my wrist than any other watch.
I have to disagree, the hands are what make this watch so cool….totally unique.
Your videos are so good. I don’t get the “Minecraft” hands either but after seeing it, I can’t imagine another set of hands in there.
Same hahah I imagined the aforementioned sword hands on it but it looked weird in my head at least.
I’m the opposite. The sword hands looks weird to me. Btw I did own a UX before.
How do you feel about snowflake hands on a Tudor? Just curious?
@@ams914 I like them but only on the Pelagos line. Tudor completely screwed the handset on Black Bay with the round indices.
Totally agree, the hands are the only reason I don’t own this watch.

Only complaint about this one is the blacked-out "Made In Germany", I don't think it would've made the dial too busy. Love the hands
I do think that's a bit strange.
As a designer I disagree, the hands are what make this watch so Bauhaus and unique.

New video from Evan: I press play. Simple as that. The U50 with black bezel and Sinn’s red rubber strap might be my summer watch this year.
Ha, thanks. I'll try to keep earning that trust.
More brands should take the U50/BB58 approach. Take a great watch, make it smaller and thinner. Perfection
