This is by far one of the best videos I've ever watched on music production, wouldn't mind more videos like this one!

Haven't seen your videos recommended to me in a while but I'm glad I searched up your name to check out what was going on. Love the content keep it up! You have to turn this into a sample library one day!

Nice. Would love to see it as a Pianobook library.

This great. Nice work, Dan. I watched a video of a favourite band of mine deconstruct one of their tracks. I was always impressed how full the bass sounded and it turned out they used a synth all the way through. I never knew you were allowed to do that!

Really love the combination of sine wave for sustain with the other instruments you used to bring out the attack. Always a challenge to avoid masking but the band passes worked very well. The EQ after verb explanation made sense to me. Look forward to your next vid!

1:38 it's called Knorr as a pan-Nordic joke and every consonant is pronounced with aggressive glee: kKnorRRRRR(etc...). By Knorr we really mean "Knorr Aromat", but every Nordic person (perhaps with exception of the Danes) knows that Knorr means the yellow and green shaker.
I think there was even a Norwegian band that got sued by Knorr for naming themselves Knorr, but I believe know relented when they found out the cultural importance their name had. Since the after war period, salt, pepper and Knorr(rrrrrrr) are the three things put on every (non-posh) lunch and dinner table, and it is socially acceptable to put it on every single savoury dish or spread you can think of. So the reason the Swedes of Klevgrand call it Knorr (remember: KenoRrr), is that it's good on anything. I haven't even heard of this plugin before and I laughed out loud when I saw the name written out: the joke is that much of a matter-of-course.
And now to watch the remaining 87% of the video LOL

Good stuff! Finding a good balance between a clean heavy sub and actually being able hear the bass on smaller speakers often requires some cool timbral experimentation and blends - no matter the genre. A small tip to anyone reading - if you're also being driven to agony by the NI Rickenbacker bass always being a tiny bit late, try adding a negative track delay of ~33 ms. Makes it a whole bit more useful, especially when quantizing or drawing!

Strange how we arrived at almost the same combination. I really like adding some amp simulation to get a bit of crunch.

Thank you for the video Dan. Really helped me out making a bass sound for an electronic track I'm working on!

I run my old Epiphone single coil bass into a Roland KC-550. I just replaced the Chinese speaker with a 160watt Weber Bass speaker to give it a bit of growl and focus on those bass frequencies. Sounds great. Mic it up with a Royer R-10 and a small diaphragm condenser mic, while also running a direct out. Then blend in Labs Foghorn Deep with some of that windy breath and a bit of of bass string from Apassionata. All those go to a bus where a some processing is done, mostly a bit of compression to meld it together. Sometimes I add a Sketchcassette plugin in there for some modulation and old tape sounds.
Your examples sound very interesting and I think I could emulate some of it with the little bit I have.
    fun stuff...

Great Vid, Personally I don’t like the pick bass element, will be interesting to try it replacing with a softer fingered bass.👍

This is almost the baseline to "Piggy" by NIN. Trust me. Lol, love this tutorial though for real.
