1 cup jamaica /hibiscus flower
4 cups of water
4 guajillo chiles
1 pasilla chile
2 1/2 Tbs veggie bouillon
2 small bay leaves
2 carrots
2 Tbs apple cider vinegar
1/4 tsp black pepper
5 cups water for soaking Jamaica

Grind all the dry spices in your grinder of choice:
4-Guajillo Chiles + 1 extra for infusing
2-Bay leaves
1/2- Tablespoon Oregano
1/2-Tablespoon Bouillon of choice
1/2-Teaspoon Pepper Corn or 1/2-Teaspoon Black Pepper
1/4- Teaspoon Ground Clove or 2-Cloves
1/2-Teaspoon Granulated Garlic Powder
1/4-Teaspoon Sugar
1-Cup Canola or Vegetable Oil
For Spicy oil add
10- Chiltepines or 1/2- Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
4-Puya Chiles

The Chinese style bullion base she’s using has a lot of mushroom flavor, I make a lot of Asian style dishes and broths and mushrooms add a meaty flavor that people look for or love. That could be a helpful tip in flavoring your broth, using shiitake mushrooms in the broth or look for a vegetable bullion base that uses mushrooms as a component or mushroom bullion base. Hope this helps.

Growing up eating Asian food I recognized that bullion and the use of mushrooms in vegan dishes. Good luck on your find, you can by them fresh or dehydrated so if you can’t get them locally, try online. Happy hunting, and be blessed as well.

Kira Feathers It most likely will, if MSG is something you want to avoid you can always get fresh or dried shiitake mushrooms. I have heard some people grinding or pulsing their dried mushrooms into a shiitake powder if you will. You can add it to broths and stocks and achieve the same flavor.

We have vegetarian Thursday, in this house. My son, ALWAYS whines for beef, I think I might have just found a surprise for him! @@krystalfarias3638 I ended up using the Maggi Vegetable Bullion cubes, next to the Goya products in my grocery store. They're a Nestle product and a bit high in salt/sugar but work great I only used 2 cubes to down on the bad stuff.

Our Chinese store carries chicken, pork and beef flavor bouillon and Vegeta also has vegetarian chicken bouillon.

I think you mean vegetarian or pescatarian. Vegans do not eat fish or dairy whatsoever.
Sylvia Olney my son is vegan. I myself am not and I want recipes so that I can cook better for myself. My son has inspired me to eat healthier. He was pescatarian but again is now fully vegan. I however have been making both vegan and non vegan meals for myself and many of them have come from here.

I AM SO SHOCKED AT HOW GOOD MY BIRRIA TACOS CAME OUT. 🤯🤯🤯 I've been vegetarian for a few years now and always miss out on main dishes, but now i'm so grateful for this recipe!! I had my doubts when I was soaking the hibiscus in the apple cider vinegar, but I trusted your process and it turned out incredible. My mom doesn't usually love my vegetarian alternatives, but she ate every drop 😍

@@amichelle6898 I bought the dried peppers from my local grocery store, most stores have them underneath the fresh produce, but amazon is also a great option if you can't find any! (not sure if this is what you meant lol, sorry if not)..I bought my dried hibiscus from Amazon and the vegetarian base powder from a Korean grocery store (H-mart). The consome didn't stick to my tortillas great, but dipping the taco made up for any lack of flavor lol. Hope this helps 🥴💓

My dear friends, I just did this recipe. My wife and I are vegans and mexicans (I am Mexican national, she’s Mexican American). She used to be the only one cooking all the time but since I’m unemployed for now. I am the one cooking every day and made this one today and we both absolutely LOVED it. Ok this is amazing. If you're not familiar with authentic Mexican cuisine you won't know how common Flor de Jamaica is in Mexican food. Thanks for the tips. I'm vegan, Mexican and live in Mexico. I rarely use bullion in anything ( I never think to use it to be honest) but I do bring a deeper or meaty flavor to dishes using toasted sesame oil and or miso. Sesame seed is a very common ingredient in central and southern mexico. It brings a lot of depth to sauces like mole. Mushrooms also bring that depth to dishes if you don't have bullion. Love all your tips.

I’ve been plant based for 16 years and I love it but I never thought about subbing Jamaica flowers for beef in this! I grew up in northern Mexico and I tell ya-I’m sooo ready for some of this, it’s been a loooong time!

Jackfruit should work great but worst case scenario... Try mushrooms. Maybe some Shiitake, Portobello or Cremini. They all make great meat substitutes and add a ton of great flavor and they're extremely good for you.

No, She means hibiscus. She explains that at the beginning of the video. Flor de Jamaica is the hibiscus flower in Hispanic cultures. Sorrel is something not related to this drink.
