I wasn't so good at the other ombre techniques, so I am excited to try this one!! Your mani is beautiful! Those colors are popping on your tan hands! It's still 32° in Wisconsin. We will not be having tans for awhile unless we go to a tanning bed.
hey chels!!! gonna try it. i'm OBSESSED with the ombre technique. my first attempt was the tap method. next i'll try this way seems easier too ps you're still my favorite
Going to try this out tonight! Just had a client that wanted to get black and orange dip ombre on her nails. I was hella struggling. Thankyou so much!!!
That’s what the original video had!! 🙌🏼 they did gel polish, then cure, then pressed the dip powder into it 🤯 so you could totally use gel polish if you’re more comfortable with that! 💗💗💗
You can absolutely use the soaking method but as you mentioned, I would suggest filing down some of it first 💖 gel can be trickier to soak off so I use a 100 grit file to file it down before soaking 🫶🏻
Right?! 🤯 I saw someone do this with gel polish since it was “tacky” after curing and I’m likeeee uhm wait a minute!! We can do this with gel base! 🤣 I thought I stumbled onto something and then when I searched around apparently this is not new news 😆😆😆
What is a good affordable gel base and top coat that has strength to it, isn't too thick or thin and does not yellow and stain? I'm asking because I have a severe reaction to dip liquids and need to start using the gel method. Pleeeeease help me.
This looks so cool!!!!!! It's going into autumn here down under, but why the hec not do a bright nail😆 I do have a question: do you still ableb to file and buff before the top coat and after the 60sec cure after all 3 colours are done? TIA😇🤔
I like your thinking! 🤣🙌🏼 So are you asking if you can file/shape after the ombré part? You definitely can! So instead of buffing beforehand, you want to buff after ombré? I would suggest putting something on top of the ombré to protect it from buffing/filing. So even just another layer of gel base on top, cure 60 sec, wipe off tacky layer, then buff/file. Then rubbing alcohol again before top coat. I hope I’m understanding! Please let me know if I misunderstood 💗💗💗
This is the only way I can ombre is with gel. It is so much easier. You don't have to race against a drying base. They came out so pretty. Almost looks like Tie Dye
So much yes!! I love that I didn’t feel rushed and could control the opacity more. Ahhh you’re right!! It does have a tie dye vibe!! I was thinking Easter eggs 🤣🤣
I apply peel base directly to my natural nails 🥰 so I push back my cuticles, dehydrate, then apply peel base. After peel base I apply a layer of dip base & let that dry. I find the layer of dip base helps slow the dry time down on the first layer of dipping. It also gives me an even surface since peel base can be finicky. Hope that helps! 🥰
I’ve seen gel ombré but not where you cure the gel first. Clever! Is that just one layer of dip and no filing? That would be great not having to file it! 👍🏻👏🏻
So I did 2 layers of white dip powder underneath for strength. You can absolutely do 3 layers if needed! Then activate, then file + shape. Then started the ombré 🥰
I want to try a baby boomer with this too! I feel like you could do it a few ways! 1. Do 2-3 dips tan shade then ombré the white on the tip 2. Do 1-2 dip of tan, then ombré BOTH shades on top I want to give this a try to see which blends nicer! I think both options are totally doable though! Let me know if you try it and how you decide to go about it 💗
Ohhhh !!! I think with a fine glitter, probably!! A chunky might need some hand placing but that’s normal even for a tap. I need to give this a try 🤣🙌🏼 thanks for the suggestion!!
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t suggest pressing the dip powder brush into a tacky layer of dip base. Dip base is sort of like super glue. But you can absolutely do the scrub ombré method or tapping with dip liquids! 💖
Mind blown! So quick question if you were to do just the french ombre tip, do you need to add clear powder to the bottom part of the nail to make it even or just put top coat after you finish the ombre? Would love to see a video of you doing a mani with the french ombre with that method!! Great video
Great question!! Honestly I would have to give it a whirl to see! I don’t think I would do clear though because clear + gel usually don’t jive well together. It leave lots of bubbles 😵💫 I almost think you’d be okay to just do the tip color and cure, then top coat! Because the base is on the entire nail and the powder is just being pressed into it 🧐 I’ll have to give that a try! I kind of want to try a baby boomer with this technique!
So you’re curing over the powder again that you just placed on the tacky layer? Just making sure I get it because I’m DEFINITELY trying this lol it looks so cute and easy! I tried the scrub method the other day and it did not turn out well lol this looks way better.
I wonder if it would work with Revel Margo as the base…. I was planning on Margo for my next set and maybe Margo on all the nails with a Margo/pink ombré on one or two of them using this method. 🤔🤔🤔 I hate that I have a job and have to work, I wanna try it right now lol
Hi Chelsea I have a question when do this is it necessary to do each nail separately or can you paint all the nails with the gel base, cure all the nails, ombré all the nails and then cure again? Thanks.
That’s a great question! 🤔 I imagine so! I would have to try it out. I’m thinking… maybe after curing the ombré… 1. Activator 2. Top coat 3. Top coat Like normal I just don’t know how the activator would react with the ombré/gel 🤔 if you try please let me know! 💗
I have been dipping for 2.5 years and I thought I had seen it all, but NO! Thanks for sharing this, definitely going to try it this spring!
THIS right here is exactly how I felt!! 🤣🙌🏼 just when we think we’ve seen it all! Lol!
Mind blown! That looks so much easier then the dip method, can’t wait to give it a go. Thanks Chelsea xx
Right?! My mind was blown too! 🤣🙌🏼 let me know what you think if you try it! 💗
This is awesome Chelsea! I may have to restart my search for a gel I’m not allergic to, just so I can try this 🤩
Oh nooo 😭 I’m sorry you have a gel allergy!! Have you tried any HEMA free gels? I had an issue with other gels until I started using HEMA free 🙌🏼💗

I’d have to pick a classic, deep red. It never gets old! Thanks so much for the great tips on using gel polish! ❤

Holy moly! I am going to give that a try because I suck at ombre's...and that mani is so cute and fun, love those colors together!
My mind was blown too!! 🤯 please let me know what you think if you try it!! I love that you don’t have to rush 🙌🏼
WHAT?!? 🤯 This is amazing! You're my hero!
😭💗 ahhh you are too sweet!! Thanks for the love!
How do you get the brushes clean
I use hot water and Dawn dish soap to clean them 💕
I'm about to go do an ombre! 😍😂 Wow! I've thought about this being an easier way but haven't been brave enough to try it lol
Ahhhh you’re back!!! 💗💗💗 you’ll have to let me know how it goes if you try it!

Thank you so much!! Can’t wait to hear what you think if you give it a try! 🥳
Does the tacky residue get on your brush? If so how do you clean it?
Miraculously it didn’t!! But I would guess that may vary with each gel brand on if it’s tackier 💖
@@SipAndDip Perfect! I can't wait to try. Awesome video!!
How does one remove this manicure? Does the warm water/baggie with acetone/paper towel method work, or do we need to file off the gel layers?
You can absolutely use the soaking method but as you mentioned, I would suggest filing down some of it first 💖 gel can be trickier to soak off so I use a 100 grit file to file it down before soaking 🫶🏻

Ahhh thank you so much!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hey Chel’s. That’s so pretty. I just did mine yesterday also. I did a glow in the dark pink with a silver accent nail. ❤️🥰
That sounds so pretty!! Can’t go wrong with pink PLUS it glows?! Love it already! 😍😍😍
@@SipAndDip no you can’t. I’m going to order a glow in the dark blue . I really hope they have orange. That’s my favorite color. 🥰
That does look so easy! Beautiful nails!
Thank you so much!! I hope you had a wonderful week! We made it to the weekend 🥳🙌🏼
I have an issue with my gel top coat peeling?? What did I do wrong for it to peel?
Hello, I did it, but I feel that they are very opaque, how can I fix them? I smooth the top coat and apply more gel and more color?
This is a pretty cool hack, I need to try this 😀
Yesss!! It’s crazy easy! 🤯🤯🤯
Looks so nice, and easy too. Thank you
Thank you so much!! 💜💙
Soooo pretty. Thanks for the tips hun 🙏☺️
