      Yeah it's a standard carpal tunnel stretch and very effective. I used it alot 15 years back while playing in a thrash/grind band.

    Here is a tip (BTW thats one of the best stretching routines) when you strech like that take a HUGE breath (through the mouth) and slowly exhale through the nose..keep doing this as you do all the stretches, what does this do? VERY PROFOUND, its used in western rehabilitation, tantra, yoga , TAO and much more, aside from it carrying blood and nutrients to the muscle (last longer , longevity etc) it will actually put you IN a better mood (yes proven scientifically wont go into a blah why here) try it and see...make sure you keep doing them whilst you do all the stretches Nina is showing you...you will be looser too....When Nina said the body is all connected, BREATH and stretching are ABSOLUTELY connected try it and see

    A respected physical trainer / weight trainer to pro athletes says that you should not do a hard stretch prior to a workout because it disrupts the nerve-muscle-bone coordination. Your nerves are used to controlling muscles and tendons of a certain length. If you increase that length with a hard stretch the coordination will be off, which will affect your form during the excercise.

    • @matheusburin
      @matheusburin 5 років тому

      I was thinking the same thing. Warm up playing, not stretching. You can stretch after playing if you want to relax but it's not a good ideia to do it before playing or exercising in any way.

    • @SixString_J5
      @SixString_J5 5 років тому

      Dynamic stretching would be much more beneficial. For guitar warm-up I Do these about 10 repetitions:
      1. roll my shoulders (both directions)
      2. arm circles much like a swimming motion (both Directions).
      3. Then I shake my wrist like I just washed my hands and their are no paper towels
      4. Lastly I open and close my hands.
      Then your standard warm up guitar exercises for about 5 mins.
      After that I'm as limber as I'm gonna get for that session.

  • @toby1kenobe

    That wasn’t a chromatic scale. You need to incorporate a position shift or you miss a note. If you start on A at the 5th fret and only play 4 notes you miss C#, then continue to miss notes. It is a chromatic type exercise- but the scale needs all 12 tones.

    • @rhapsody1979
      @rhapsody1979 Рік тому

      It's been quite a while since you wrote this but, i needed to say something about it since you're completely wrong in what you said. A chromatic scale can go from C to B or from C to G# and it's still gonna be chromatic as long as you play the 8 notes in between. You don't need to play the whole scale to call it Chromatic. I can play C-D-E-F-G and A and whoever hear those notes will instantly recognize it's the C Major scale even though i haven't hit B not even once. The Chromatic scale doesn't need the 12 notes to be chromatic, it only needs the amount of notes you choose to play to be played chromatically, that's it. C to C# is a chromatic run just as C to C# to D to D# is also a chromatic run. You don't need to play all 12 notes the whole time to say you're playing a chromatic scale. It's ridiculous.

    No she's not perfect, yes her tone is unfavorable. But yet again, people are not focusing on the point of this video. These are good stretches and great exercises. No matter how "good she is" "or isn't". I demonstrated similar exercises with several others to other players and they help a lot. Plus that stretch is AMAZING. I do it every time I play now. It doesn't matter if you think she's good, can you learn anything from this? It's a lesson. Not a video that says "judge this girl's playing".

    I'm actually a huge fan of her playing, but this video seemed really off.
    It's like she didn't hear a metronome, was not completely interested, felt bored or something else.
    I doubt she was feeling nervous holding this lesson, but yeah...mistakes were made.

    • @CHOPERUS23
      @CHOPERUS23 5 років тому

      Playing a lick slowly when you're used to playing it quickly always sounds sloppy. Just like driving, ever wondered why you adjust the wheel more when driving slower over the same route, it's the same.
      Silly comment like you've been told already.

    • @nethbt
      @nethbt 5 років тому

      CHOPERUS23 lol no... Not the same thing with guitar... Now go watch Michael Angelo Batio, George Lynch or Troy Stetina doing super slow exercise licks, they have a perfectly timed precise articulation... Reason being, they practice their licks slowly at first... Nita's practice routines are evident here, she rarely practices slow, probably because she's bored or has a short attention span.

    • @jakholly2
      @jakholly2 5 років тому

      Well, she's clearly not on time with the metronome. They're still good exercises but when she plays with a more stripped down setup, she seems to be very stiff with certain transitions. She's a HUGE legato player, and I think it shows in situations like this.
