    Great to see you out on the G12 CSR again. This was the bike you were on the first time I watched your channel and admiration for the machine has not waned. Hope your apprehension over oil pressure is unfounded. 👍👏👌

    Love it! One moment talking so sentimentally about the bike one second and next minute it's a "Contrary little git" SO FUNNY, ONE OF THE LESSER FANCIED BIKES OF THE ERA BUT NOT WITHOUT IT'S MERITS

    Good bike. An exhaust that won't aggravate your neighborhood. My first bike was a used early Matchless G12. Don't remember the year but
    same paint scheme and chrome.

    Eyup again, I enjoyed the bike , the ride and the banter, its a credit to you. In my youth working as an apprentice mechanic for WYMAS in birkenshaw i bought some oil recommended and sold by a colleague in the workshop and after closing down from the 100+ club on the A58 from Halifax slowing for the chain bar traffic lights it seized a big end, bugger.the morale is...... only buy the best grade oil, i ran everything after this clash with a monograde on Castrol 20/50 and never missed a beat since.Looking forrad to the ride on the T100C. Regards

      Finding oil with plenty of zinc is one my aim, and i to run as many bikes as possible on the same oil so as not to have to remember whats got what in.
      cheer for the comments

    Lovely bike, I used to run my old G12 on straight 50 oil, was like treacle in winter but I seem to remember it was what my manual recommended. I didn't have the luxury of a pressure gauge tho lol.

    20psi at idle sounds good to me. I remember back in 1975 I had a BMW 2002 and that had an oil pressure switch which set a yellow oil pressure warning light on the dashboard at 6psi. Nice bike the Matchless G12 CSR...

      After much messing ,i run the bike for 20 miles , at tik over it has 7 psi and 30 at a steady 50 mph. I think this is probably ok, but i would like a little more, i am in the process of making new oil pumps at the moment, so we will see what happens next year

    Lovely bike, I've got two AMC singles but I've never had an AMC twin (I've always had Norton twins) I think you're right to 'wait and see' on the oil pressure issue, I reckon that most of us would be pretty horrified if we could see the oil pressure on our old British bikes when they're hot !..

    • @yorkshirebiker1293
      @yorkshirebiker1293  Рік тому +1

      I replied to a couple of others, just thought its a new gauge , might try another gauge. I think its rain for the next week, so will have to wait a spell. i fancied a G80cs, i think the Matchless's are under rated. Thanks for your comment👍👍

      @@yorkshirebiker1293 I don't blame you for not riding the Matchless in wet weather, I personally don't mind riding in the rain (and I do on my 'modern' bike..) but there's no prizes for causing yourself hours of cleaning just to make a point ! - My AMC singles are nothing like as exotic as your CSR, they're a '53 AJS 18S (which coincidentally was my Dad's bike) and a '44 Matchless WD G3L. If I was going for an AMC twin it would definitely be the G12 CSR, but not the AJS version, I know they're the same bike year-for-year but the Matchless gets my vote !.. Ride Safe.

    Just did an oil pressure test on my G12 with a recent regrind and new shells. (I even put a video of on you tube funny enough : )about 25 psi at slow idle when hot with 20W 40 oil from westway lubricants in UK.
    Seems about right.... Might try a straight 50 see if any difference. Thanks for posting your results 👍

      just watched your vid, after a brain storm last night , just thought it a new oil pressure gauge and i use that term loosely, i might try a different gauge as it could be a little out, fingers crossed.👍👍

    My 850 Commando does about 10psi per 1000rpm when fully warm. Note that oil flow is nore important than actual pressure.
    Also, for your wetsump tap, there are a few available for sale which have ignition or magneto cut out switches integrated so you cannot start bike if you habe not opened the oil tap. FEKED sells these for about 20 pounds i think. I just made my own for my commando out of a brass&stainless bathroom water fixture tap (Dahl brand) and mointed a micro swtich wired into ignition power, switch opens if tap is closed, closes if tap open. Cost about 10 dollars.

      C hanged the gauge on the matchless , and i think the pressure will be ok 7 psi at a slow tick over and about 30 psi at 50mph. I was going to have a look at altering the timing cover on my MK2 850 to same as my MK3, not sure it's do able but will have a look. cheers

    • @TornadoCAN99
      @TornadoCAN99 Рік тому

      @@yorkshirebiker1293 Sometimes the timing cover mods on Commando still wet sump. Note you can also just swap a MK3 cover onto a MK2 bike. The US shop AMR does a MK2 cover modification for a reasonable price. But, like I said, the oil line tap with ign cut out has completely solved the issue for me.

      @@TornadoCAN99 Ill have a look at the oil taps. I have bought the odd thing from the states but the import tax in the UK can be a real pain. My daughter used to live in California so she could help, she sorted the cams for the Vincent from Mega cycles, saved me a few hundred £

    • @Cobra427Veight
      @Cobra427Veight Рік тому

      @yorkshirebiker1293 the best way to do bearing is not to grind crank to next size and hope your clearance is ok , but to grind to suit , i:e fit your bearings , torque up, measure etc , and grind to a clearance like .001 to .0015 , otherwise normal way your clearance is a lottery might be .002 or more, that is what let's your oil pressure go , is there anything in the head which could be bleeding off pressure , like a rocker shaft around the wrong way like in commando motors , two of mine were, I picked up 10psi .
      Cheers
