JOHN PSATHAS: The All-Seeing Sky
In this SOUNZ Film of John Psathas’s ‘The All-Seeing Sky’ Fabian Ziegler (marimba) Luca Staffelbach (vibraphone) join Marc Taddei’s Orchestra Wellington at the Michael Fowler Centre. Of Ziegler and Staffelbach, Elizabeth Kerr wrote, “Their performance was astonishing, a unison of approach like a marvellous chamber ensemble, body language and gestures completely synchronised as they played the challenging concerto from memory.”
We asked John about ‘The All-Seeing Sky’ in an interview on our blog last May (tinyurl.com/bddvbajz). John talked about the inspiration of a re-reading of Dante’s Inferno, the documentaries of Adam Curtis, the perils of social media and composing at Waitārere - it’s an excellent read.
