I know I mentioned working on a different song last time, but after re-watching Prince of Egypt with my sister, I was reminded of how good the movie was. Another one I worked on in batches - and there are parts I'm a little "hmmm" over, but for the most part, I'm done.
I love the Wen remnants a lot - so I made up a couple of designs for some to use in this, it was a lot of fun! My brain kind of made up stories for them as I was working on it, so I'm probably more emotionally attached to them then I ought to be, lol. It was kind of a pain drawing so many characters all at one too, I don't plan on doing that again...

I hate how people sometimes seem to overlook the fact that the Wen Remnants did become Wei Ying's second *family,* not just some people that he protected cause he was a good person.
They seem to forget that what we saw play out in small scenes or over the course of one or two episodes, were *years* of Wei Wuxian's still young life, and circumstance-wise this was one of his hardest times in life, butt this time he wasn't alone, he actually had people who cared for him.
I'd like to think that Wei Ying considered Wen Ning and Wen Qing as much his brother and his sister, as he did Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli, and so I absolutely understand why he went batshit crazy, on a killing spree, when his whole *family* was *massacred,* y'know.
I wish more people focused on the Wen Remnants and how important they were, how innocent, how lovely.
I love WangXian to the debt of my heart, butt honestly, if I could decide between the Wen Remnants continuing to live, or for WangXian to happen, I think I would have to side with the Wen Remnants.
It truly hurts to see how cruel humankind is.

WWX as Moses is so cool. SPOILER I see a parallel scene of him going up to Jin Guanshan and the one with Moses saying, "Let my people go". (when wwx stands up for the innocent wen clan members)

And then they got slaughtered, and people still didn't understand why it broke Wei Wuxian enough to go absolutely batshit crazyl
one of my favorite chapter in the novel is when lan wanji confronted wei wuxian about walking in the dark path but when lan wanji left, he said to himself: "walking at the dark path, was not dark at all". then all lights where lighted up and that night the wen sects and wei wuxian held a joyous celebration... however, lan wanji was completely heartbroken ofc
thanks for watching! that scene was really good in the novel, and the call back to it later during the second siege of the burial mounds made me tear up. the wen remnants deserved better
I really love your depiction of the Wen Remnants here - it’s clear you put a lot of thought into them, and this made me tear up. I’d definitely be interested in knowing any names or stories behind them... but as it is, this is lovely. Thank you!

I finally found those two together.
I always thought that Moses's story with his brother is quite similar to what Wuxian went through with his own.
I've seen some fanart of the "once you were my brother" scene with them which almost made me cry, lol. thanks for watching.

I can tell a lot of work got put into this, with interpreting the words, the anatomy, and that one dancing scene!! It really paid off though, it looks wonderful, and the whole song is animated and we all love that!!

I got so excited when I saw the title bc I love prince of egypt and I was absolutely right to be omfgg this is? So pretty?? And I love all the details on the dif wen remnants and the expressions are just so well done too! The dancing was my favorite part! Everyone at the end, too. This is so sweet aaa
thanks! the dancing was the thing I was most excited to work on - originally I was going to do more there, but I was at something like 250 layers and starting to go mad, lol. I'm glad you liked it!

I’m still pressed about what happened to the Wen remnants 😤 It brought a tear to my eye to see them alive and happy again, they deserved so much better than they got. Thank you for putting in the time and care to make this, it’s absolutely beautiful!

i got super excited when i saw who it was uploading, and the title! the song fit really well here. i love the accents of red that tie all the characters together. the wen remnants are definitely a very underrated part of the book, its great to see them shine here! the dancing section was fantastic, i enjoyed the pickup and energy a ton. beautiful!

I'm so fond of them, and how much they care for wwx and vice-versa - I hope the donghua manages to pull off the second siege. The dancing was by far the part that took the longest to work on, but it was also one of the first parts I thought up.
It was fun to work on something that wasn't quite so sad, lol.
I know it's been a year since you posted this, but I've been thinking a lot about possible mdzs animatics w/ prince of egypt songs (cause they fit so well, let's be honest) and stumbled across this again. :D I really love this, it perfectly captures all of the feelings i have about wei wuxian not truly being alone even after all the sacrifices he's made-- because he still has the wen remnants. ah! truly too perfect, i know you won't see this, but i just love this animatic so much!

I love Prince of Egypt, and the one time I rewatched it after watching CQL I couldn't help but find the similarities between WWX & JC with Moses and Ramses. Obviously there are plenty of differences, but the pain between brothers is most similar

@@zephyllus I didn't read it as bad vibes at all! it's more, how do I put this, I understand that for every person who interacts with some form of media they'll all have different take-aways? this video is kind of OC-heavy, so I get that someone looking for specifically mdzs characters would be disappointment, or that is is a song from a movie with very specific religious/historic context and that transposing it onto another one may also have that same feeling.
All in all, while I was raised "if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything" I get that's not the case for everyone and do my best to avoid altercations, lol.
