    This is the website for Nurseries Caroliniana - nurcar.com/. I brought home some interesting things that will be in a video soon. Thanks for watching!

    A “dangerous” video for plantaholics to see! Going to have to restrain myself when I go to his website. Visiting these nurserymen is such a brilliant idea, Jim (and Stephany). You’ve introduced us to some wonderful, knowledgeable people we would otherwise never know about and for that, I thank you! I love hearing the stories behind the plants. 💚

    Interesting coincidence, I just discovered today that the 7 shrubs growing along my porch are osmanthus burkwoodii. I’d not heard of them before today. They’re nice plants, almost 7ft tall, small white fragrant flowers in spring, very resilient
    Edit - Fantastic video! This series of visits to experienced nursery folks is outstanding, one of the most illuminating on UA-cam. I could listen to plant experts talk plants all day long. The only thing “wrong” with this video is discovering they do mail order. This is going to be brutal on my bank account 😉

Your series with fellow horticulturists have been a special treat amongst the weekly and monthly updates, watching your garden grow, and your gardening tips.

    I received a Sugarloaf Pink beauty berry and two Hummingbird clethra from them last fall-beautiful plants. They also survived our SW VA winter, which can be brutal on new plants because it can get close to zero and with zero snow cover! You can count on this nursery. I also have Jim to thank for talking up these species and varieties.

    Jim! You gave away my secret spot! I'm 20 mins from there & have to resist a quick Saturday trip every weekend. Have several maples, including Hong long, 4 types of mahonia (not soft caress nor marvel) & several osmanthus from there. Their selection is great. I hope you got to meet Joe!

    I didn’t know what to expect when I clicked play, but this was fantastic!! My illicium floridanum was planted back in December on the north side of my house (some late evening sun) and it wilted a few times near 32 but otherwise has been happy and tolerated heat very well in GA.. hope to add more varieties to my landscape. I’m fascinated by the different varieties of osmanthus are they all similar in size??

  • @jomassey4207
    @jomassey4207 2 роки тому

    Ozmanthus can also be called Pearly gates.
    Mines in a pot, and has just finished flowering.
    Great winter interest.....along with Daphne and Erica and cyclamen.
    I'm looking to add some small trees that have berries for the birds during winter.
    Cheers, Jo from New Zealand 🇳🇿

    Ooooohhh! A new place to buy plants. Already filling my cart, although I hope they don't all sell out since it's too hot to have anything shipped right now. Would it be possible to espalier the Illicium Purple Glaze? I'm 6b, and have a protected spot along the side of my garage that gets some sun in the morning, then shady the rest of the day, but it's a narrow strip, so the plants need to be either small or somewhat flat.
