"Which was... an interesting conversation... in hindsight..."
🤣 In 2024, the idea of Vince lecturing on professionalism is insane.🤣
True 😅
This was one of those final Nails In The Coffin ⚰️ for McMahon’s Failed Concepts.
Essentially Retribution was failed from the start. The first appearance was only done because they needed something to fill time. They had done all the planned things for the show and had some minutes left to fill
lol in 20 years we will still be blaming Vince for literally everything 😂😂😂
Mines were Goldberg vs fiend
@@georgealvarez1195 and a well deserved blame
Remember the egg stpryline cleopatra egg or something
The group was toast when they gave them Autobot and Decepticon names
Yeah
That was on purpose. Clearly Vince didn't like Dijak so it was all a rib.
This is actually sad honestly they had literally nothing for him and he kept finding the silver lining and they still didn't have anything for him and let his contract run out
If you told me this was how it was going to go when WWE first signed Donovan Dijak, I would've called you a troll and a liar. The wasted time & potential is just mind-blowing.
Beside the great Noir-Thriller gimmick he had in NXT? I easily write a lot of storys for that unique character. No it came out of lazyness. He was inring one of the best in the company and he can at least mid-lvl speak, so its a fail by the WWE.
Wwe failed too many wrestlers. I am surprised people still work for them.
If he was that good.hed be there.hes not,so he isn't.
@tayojones9460 what a silly comment.if the talent has the talent, they generally make it
“Get rid of those sideburns, Mattingly!”
Mattingly! For the last time get rid of those sideburns!
@@derek-64 Still better than Steinbrenner
they were dead on arrival with the names

lol
Wasn't one of the names "Hubcap?" 😂
Especially if one of your names “Slapjack” 😂
@@SethInSD 😂😂 yeah it was Hubcap, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Doorknob lol
Retribution could’ve been booked a whole lot better if they were either champ or just a scary menacing group the fact that they did all that crap and not doing anything with them and make them look like a joke that pisses me off to this very day screw Vince McMahon
Lol nobody cared. There were better people as champions
@@ITSHIM1294 first of all stop with that nobody cares bullshit second of all I agree they should’ve been champions. I just don’t know why.
make them antifa/protestor-inspired tweeners and give them legitimate grievances with vince and the company that they go too far in correcting. gold. even vince, who wouldn't have the balls to turn them babyface wouls have to admit it's gold.
There's a video on UA-cam from Partsfunknown where they did a fantasy rebooking video of Retribution. Instead of a bunch of dorks in masks and basically ruining five more potential future stars, they instead made it into a proper NXT Invasion story. Highly reconmend it.
Donal is so talented and has such a great look that I would be surprised if his career goes I the same direction as people like Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley whereby he goes off to another promotion, gains a huge following, and then arrives back in WWE in the main event scene.
I've never heard Dijak speak before. He has a great voice!
Retribution could have been better. It started off great, then nothing.
Watch his last run in NXT with his NOIR Gimmick. He played it so nice and had some good micwork segments.
He talks too slow I can't even finish
@@dlabrooknaum7316 You must hate Randy Orton then
@@dlabrooknaum7316 can't imagine how hard reading is for you then.
T Bar, Slapnuts, and Mace 😂😂😂😂😂 Everytime they showed up it turned into a comedy segment with the names alone.
I dont think mace was a bad name tbf the others though were lame
Slapnuts? Since when was Jeff Jarrett ever involved?
I thought it was slap Jack lol
@@Mr.Amazing1694 It is lol
Lol I forgot about Slapjack. Mace and T-Bar could have been a cool team tho.
He’s a giant that moves like Rey and got over in nxt and yet they dropped the ball so hard. Amazing
I’ve always felt that with Vince McMahon he felt in the last decade or so of him time as the boss that it didn’t matter how bad creative was nothing was going to ever put WWE out of business so he believed he didn’t have to put any effort into creative.
I'll never forget those awful names and the cheap plastic masks you can buy off of Amazon. WWE Covid era was a trip.
It was a VERY unique 16 month era. 😅
Erick Rowan's Pet, "What is Shelton Benjamin Thinking?", Angel Garza's Love, Retribution. The *"Just Start It and We'll Figure Something Out Later (not really lol)" Era* of WWE
What sucked the most was when we had interesting stories such as the Smackdown hacker story which was really intriguing and while we did get the reveal it was Mustafa Ali, that was like almost a year after the last time the hacker showed up
I still really believe that Retributuon would’ve gotten over significantly more had there been crowds in attendance. Like, imagine Nexus going out and destroying the ring area but with no fan reaction. Imagine The Shield trying to get over without their iconic crowd entrance and crowd reactions
Those names are straight out of the Brother Love playbook who came up with such great Aces and Eights names like the Armbreaker and Wire Cutter.
you cant really make those big wrestling moments, without the fans in the arena.. anything that was going on during the covid era was doomed from the start, because of that.
That faction did not have a chance since the very beginning.
Unrelated but is the table tall or are the chairs tiny
This shows that Vince hella lost touch.
Cause he didn’t push a couple of jobbers?
@@ITSHIM1294Most of the main event scenes of both companies right now are guys Vince saw zero potential in.

He's got a good speaking voice he should do voice over for shows
Retribution is just one of the many reasons why I stopped and no longer watch WWE anymore. They always seem to care about what happens on the main roster. Everytime they try to do something interesting to change up the landscape, and do something different, they drop the ball right throught the earth. The original Invasion, ECW, the original NXT, right up to current NXT. It's like "What's the point"?
Your loss
@@Brunosbud seriously it's been years since Retribution lol. @lewismaclean8849 grow the fuck up. Products change since covid, get your head out of your ass.
It has been interesting that all of the WWE leaks seem to have slowed down since Dijak got let go. Coincidence?
I actually think that’s why they called him up in the draft, because he never actually featured on TV. I think they had their suspicions about him in NXT then fed him a few stories on Raw for confirmation then canned him once they had their proof.
This was a harsh harsh time to go back to 😢. I legit can't think about that dark dark time.
Love you chris keep going
Dijak just screams "disgruntled ex-employee"
Edrones say that about everyone that finally leaves WWEs prison 🤣
Being honest doesn't make him a "disgruntled ex employee." He said himself that he wanted to stay and that he enjoyed his time there despite the issues he faced.
He has every right to be a disgruntled ex employee
Vince was losing his head in the last six or seven years. He already had an anarchist group with SaNitY and released them, then one day he thinks he made up Retribution. Dude needed to go.
another “let’s just throw a group together” pitch by vince 😂😂
Did you not watch the video? The pitch was by Dijak and the members were thought out, not random. Vince just horrendously failed at executing it because he had to make it "his" or his ego wouldn't allow it.
Lol obviously retribution would join Lwo under hhh if they were Latino
“That was the 2nd time I met him”
The way he said that reminded me of that Dave Chapelle joke about the 3 times he met O.J. Simpson 😂
It was so horrible!! They had no major plans for it!! Didn’t give them any shot at getting over!! and everybody in that group suffered for still to this day
What about the rumors that this was supposed to be Romans group when he came back from COVID........but I heard Roman didn't like the idea.things now would have been much different
If anyone watching at home couldn't tell there was no pitch is blind
You think you’re safe because you gave us contracts?!!?1!?
That stable screamed “such good shit, pal!”
Dijak was one of the very best on the roster and they wasted his time . Dijak will do great by himself , I believe in him . ❤
It's so funny... These dudes get released and do these shot videos and it's like they have great minds just to get wasted 😕😕
Yeah... these interviews just keep reinforcing that in the last 10 years or so, Vince became an idiot and the people he fired were leagues smarter than he was. I mean no offense to the talent, but how does the "Greatest Visionary In The History Of Professional Wrestling" become dumber than the talent?
@@ForeverDegenerate I'm over him and his doofus son in law 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep. Look what happens when they get free reign in AEW. House of Black. Jericho's stupid ass learning tree. Anything with Adam Cole. You name it. They are kept from their worst instincts most of the time.
I didn't watch WWE during the pandemic, but from what I've seen a lot of people didn't care for Retribution at all because the story angle was terrible. Here were a bunch of people trashing their place of work, claiming they felt underappreciated, while millions of people around the world lost their jobs and careers. It made them look beyond entitled.
Dijak vs Lee: Next Chapter (this year?)
My Retribution name would’ve been Ballgag.
God Rétribution could've been something great if Vince did screw it up 😢
Vince dropped the ball on this guy big time. I saw him at an NXT live event Vs Champa.. he rocked to the point you believed the title would switch on a non-televised event again. Vince wanted people to grab the Brass ring, and when he did Vince crapped on him.
Totally, i remember that there was a raw that made lowest rating ever or something like that, and then, suddenly, one or two weeks later, out of nowhere, raw underground and retribution started as things that were supposed to fix that. As time told, those were just what they first looked for - nonsense additions that they might have thought that they will just debut for controversy and then figure out what to do with in time, while obviously never figuring them out. 2019-2020 will forever be the worst wwe period ever, nothing can possibly top that.
Only one real solution. TK needs to pick you up and we run this back with a stable of ex WWE guys who want to take AEW down from the inside as an added build onto the original idea (I would also back burner it now though, to allow you all to integrate before the betrayal, and to give space between the current bucks stuff and this not running too close).
VKM talking about professional stuff is hilarious and pathetic in hindsight
Adding Mustafa Ali was so random
Happy for Ali though. He’s finally getting the platform to succeed
T bar=that boy ain't right 😂 when King said that I lost it.
I didnt know Dijak was the header of this idea.
What's hilarious is most people don't realize that the "Retribution" was a mocking parody of Antifa mixed with BLM.
That's what it originally came from.
😂
Idk why but Dijak reminds me like he could’ve been the next Test or even better
‘My name is Optimus Prime’ lol
Might as well have called them Job Squad 2.0
So who do I have to blame for Retribution existing??
He sounds like a white damian priest
The edrones need you even more Vinny Mac
The Worst Thing about it is what Happens after
he looks so demotivated. gud thing he was given a chance to let all those out here on this platform.
I hope you asked DIJAK why he wasn't the one named SLAPJACK
Does this guy not realized he pitched the Shield to Vince
That happens a lot in entertainment. People recycle ideas and don't even know it.

No, the whole storyline is always dumb, the "I'm going to destroy the company I work for but for some reason they just are not firing me" has and never will make any sense.
Such a waste. Great voice, tall, constantly pitches ideas for his character/storylines + great in ring performer. Way better than Triple H's favorite same-face Gargano, shorties Dunn and Bate, or mr. Dull - Bronson Reed.

Sucj a shame too it was a wonderful idea.
He basically pitched The Nexus but with masks 😂
What do you think the original pitch was for gold dust or mankind?
If you're good enough, you'll get yourself over.
This gimmick stretched the concept of suspending belief. These are actions that land you in jail not earn contracts.
This guy made the whole community hate him acting like they didn't know anything meanwhile every single one of them was right and retribution absolutely Sucked. How does this guy still have fans is a mystery to me. He licked wwes boot and got fired for it. Fkn hilarious

Admit it we all thought Roman Reigns was running retribution when he returned at summerslam wearing that shirt “Wreck Everyone”
No
vince was so close to hitting gold with a tweener antifa-inspired gimmick that it's legitimately frustrating. any idiot could have booked them better.
The worst faction in WWE history. The first half of the Covid era was brutal. Raw Underground anyone?
You’re in the minority… Underground was a great concept just not given proper development
Raw Underground could have been so much more.
Another disgruntled wrestler who couldn't cut it in the big leagues, talking shit because he got released.
Because it was awful and embarrassing 😂
Ahh yes, Antifa invades WWE after the Sunmer of Love. Terrible angle. Retribution was a poor exexution from the start, which is a shame because i really appreciate the wrestlers working the gimmick.
