The American method of training instilled comradeship and teamwork. Also compassion was an American trait as was patriotism. I think this ideology bode well for the American Navy/ Marines/Army. It did not detract from our ability to fight hard because the cause was right.

Not buying his claims of how fast recruits swam 50m. Less than 34 seconds? Not unless they were all well-trained, lifelong swimmers. That was world class speed for the time. Now way Josè.

A 64% washout rate? No wonder Japan had problems training sufficient pilots!

The Germans had the same problem but the Americans took a different approach in pilot training. You can be trained to be a pilot but a fighter pilot is a different story.

That is why we had the 25 mission return home policy. You flew 25 missions, went home, and became a flight instructor teaching new pilots what you learned. Aces were more so. Then, the next crew of new pilots went out more trained than the last, rinse, repeat.

The inhumane brutality of Japanese soldiers in WW2 is well known, but this testimony tells us of the dehumanizing military system that created these men. I'm just grateful to live in peace thus far.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Now we know why the Japanese were so sadistic to their captives.

I get that AI narration is now seen as a cheap and easy option, but isn't there any way to review and correct some of the more absurd pronunciation errors? I find it very off-putting.

Jappanese military training was in many ways midevil, the citizen soldiers of democracy were better able to think for themselves, independintly if leaders became casulties, blind allegiance to a phoney emporer is no way to win a modern war, strangley
I see a similar mindset with trump supporters, fascinating

Interesting that you compared an elected President’s voters to an appointed from birth Emperor’s surfs. Your comments show your contempt for citizens who prefer a Constitutional Republic to a democracy. Are you afraid of personal responsibility, freedom, and independence? I understand that people who live in fear of responsibility quiver in the shadow of government.

@@sgt.grinch3299 your once elected president was the only president in history to attempt to prevent the peaceful transition of power, our democracy, or republic if you prefer, (a form of democracy) is based on the peaceful transition brought about by a fair election. Zero legitimate evidence of voter fraud brings me to the belief that trump supporters are indeed similar to emporer worshippers. As far as being subservient to government I'm old enough to have protested the government during the viet nam war, I don't however blame all of lifes difficulties on our government like trump supporters do.

Right, because the Emperor was voted into office. What a joke. What do you think the term "democracy" even means

@@sgt.grinch3299 a constitutional republic is a form of democracy, as far as fear of the government I was in the forefront of protests against the viet nam war, fast forward to now and trumps cult followers have the same mentality as the militant republicans had then
