So it turns out paper straws are worse for the environment…but hey, at least some people feel better about themselves.
And your health.
When paper straws first came out the went soggy after a few minutes, and suddenly they were ok - turns out some psycopath decided to out PFAS - the forever chemicals - in your straws
And they suck. I remember when my local subway switched to paper straws. The get so soggy and change the flavor of the drink. I hated it.
Yes. That and starving to death because you have no fossil fuels to make food, or heat your house.
straws just in general suck. Just drink out the container
@@24killsequalMOAB Straws were invented to help war patients then got used for drinks in cars because you could drink from a container without spilling stuff. They’re great for cars.
"Environmentalism is the religion of the modern, urban atheist."
-Prof. Joel Kotkin, Chapman U.
don't conflate the inability to believe in imaginary beings with cultural Leftism
It's not about "saving the environment." It's about inventing new reasons to raise taxes, create regulations to prevent individual prosperity, & force human civilization to submit to a tyrannical 1 world government.
Carbon footprint, climate change, non-existent racism, transgenderism, forced mass-illegal immigration, & the war against our US Constitution are all about control. Never comply, nor compromise with evil.
MAGA BISSSSHEZ!!!
I'm an old man, and I grew up in the country. I love to hike, fish, camp, and spend time around the campfire. I was taught to always leave an area better than you found it. We should all be good stewards wherever we go. I have carried a large trash bag with me when I hike to pick up trash left behind by others, but mainly it isn't hikers trashing our parks, it those barely leave the parking lot. Old tires, mattresses, and household junk damning up creeks bothers me. Most of us are limited in what we can do, but the governments rash approach will hurt and cost more people their lives than it will help.
That actually makes total sense. And it’s something easy everyone can do. If everyone cleaned up their trash, no litter, etc the world would be a better place for sure. Tell that to the blacks in the city though and they’ll say it’s racist to be asked to clean up after yourselves.
We have become a throw away society, when I was little over 60 years ago when we went into town my mother would scold me if I dropped litter and tell me I would kill the dolphins in the sea. Now we trash everything and kill everything
@Aussie-Nan ...and it's only getting worse. The joke that I like to tell that I believe will actually come true is:
"Soon, you'll be changing your car(s) as often as you change your underwear" (i.e. daily).
The way they're manufacturing them, the anti-repair design of them, the computerized consolidation of the components, and the proliferation of networked spyware on them, is going to cause them to become iCars in the future... Need I say more?
🤷
The first Earth Day was engrossed with global freezing and that there would be a new ice age by 1995 if the combustible engine wasn't eliminated. Then the ozone was being eliminated and then acid rain would turn the world into a desert. Then came global warming and my 6th grade teacher read us a study that Miami would be under water by the year of 2000 unless we got rid of automobiles. See the pattern? Environmental predictions are always wrong.
The ozone disappearing was halted by stopping the using of CFC’s and other chemicals that hurt the ozone layer. Acid rain was stopped by getting rid of sulfur in fuels and capturing it while burning coal. So there are good things that come from regulation. The problem comes when the environmental wacko’s do not use sound science like this push toward EV cars when the battery tech is not there yet not to mention our electrical grid. Hybrid cars are what they should be pushing.
The environmental fad is nothing but a scam. Al Gore wanted to create a trade in carbon. This is an abstraction that would allow him to control it to make money off of. It is nothing but a scam. Unfortunately some people are extremely susceptible to nonsense and fell for it. Yes, Al Gore is one of the worst people on the planet.
Be careful adding acid rain or the ozone layer in your rants about global warming being wrong. Those are actually examples of the scientists being right. Both problems were noticed, solutions were found and implemented, which caused the problems to almost completely disappear.
@@FIxIoN420 that's a fair point. I remember the radicals were using the issue to set the narrative against combustible engines, as is done to this day. However, I do agree with your point that rational solutions do lead to environmental improvements. Thanks for your response!
@@toyguyty8557Yeah, it's called don't litter, clean up after yourself, & don't be unnecessarily wasteful.
Too easy...
“Al Gore documentary”……..🤣
I can have respect for people who's goal in their activism is concentrated on stopping completely unnecessary pollution. It's the Climate Change lunacy that I have zero repect for. Dirty water, unbreathable air, littered landscape....needs to be addressed. My steak is going to warm the planted....get real.
That’s what frustrates me. I care deeply for the environment, but I couldn’t give a crap about climate change. Clean up the damn rivers and oceans and do what we can to help Third World country stop dumping plastic in the ocean. Let’s pour tremendous sums of money into research and development for better alternatives to the things we currently use. I’m extremely concerned with deforestation and just a sheer volume of wildlife diversity we’ve lost in the last 50 years. How much carbon dioxide is in the air? I cannot express you how far down the list of priorities that is for me.
The way cattle are raised in the 20th & 21st century is a huge cause of your unbreathable air.
Turns out they're wrong about everything. Shocking.
What about the thick impenetrable plastic packaging companies encase all the products with. What about stop making cheap plastic products that start failing as soon as you use it . If straws are bothering you , try tipping the cup and pouring the liquid in your mouth.
What happened to the hole in the ozone layer, and acid rain? The problem is that "the forces that be" will ALWAYS find a way to control behavior for their own benefit and profit. The people who are running things have no interest in the well being of regular people.
Agreed! Top of the food chain control everything and everyone via their lackeys in govt, media, finance etc ., around the world and have done for eons…….
Im smelling coffee though……
I dont know how Peterson controls himself unless he has not ‘grasped’ the bigger picture yet……
Go well
Well said, it does feel that way
@@goden8884 It feels that way because it is that way. Power corrupts. Also, people at the psychopathic end of personalities tend to be the one to put the work in to get to the top positions. This creates a self fulfilling prophecy in which those in control tend to be psychopathic. Thus the people at the top tend to be those who are only out for themselves.
Sounds like you are complaining about the effectiveness of the efforts to remove CFCs and lower sulphur in coal plants ?
“Felt accomplishment” I like this phrase. It’s why I work with my hands for a living. I tried sales and management for a minute-it was not satisfying to me.
Dude same here. I got into metalwork and seeing something come alive right before my eyes is such an amazing feeling. I was in sales my whole life and it was never fulfilling.
Thanks jordon…keep up awesome work for all Canadians. I’m with you all the way.
Plastic water bottles. Until THOSE are attacked for the unbelievable waste they are, it is hard to take anyone seriously with the single-use plastic argument. Obviously, the 'bottled water' lobbyists are very powerful
They order us to kill off our grass-eating livestock herds to Save the Planet, but then demand we Save the Meat-Eating Pets, as long as they are neutered and declawed. Does that mean we'll all be neutered and declawed for Freedom and Democracy too?
They are extremely powerful. Most of the bottled water brands are owned by mega corporations like coca cola.
That plastic use is a tiny fraction of all the single use plastic in the packaging of the rest of the products sold in the US. It is like taking a bucket out of an ocean and feeling that something was accomplished. If every water bottle was no longer plastic it would only make a tiny dent in the plastic waste problem. The true cause of the recycling bottleneck is that the producers have successfully put the onus of recycling on the consumer. Their lobbyists have been successful in moving their responsibilities to recycle their products onto us. This is why they have not made any progress in increasing the amount of recycled products they make. A huge majority of the rinsed and sorted recyclables we pay to be gathered are never recycled. In fact most are put in landfills or shipped to other countries.
I'm ok (ish) with watter botles; what really grinds my gears is disposable coffe cups, and then those plastic cups for ice frappes and the like
@@bobalmond8257 Yes, plastic bottles for water is a tiny fraction. I get that. The point I was trying to make is that there is literally NO REASON to have plastic bottles for water whatsoever. It is the most egregious ridiculous use of plastic as well as any single-use plastic liquid, coffee, or even those single-use Keurig cups
Every ridiculous action these activists demand is the equivalent of pissing in the ocean and expecting to change the tide.
They have been duped like us ….
The culprits are the ‘top of the food chain’ who control everyone and everything via their lackeys in govt, media and finance etc.,
Simple really…….
But good people cant believe bad people exist or cope with the ensuing ‘cognitive dissonance’……..
Its been going on for centuries ………
Go well
Could that maybe be because the trash problem for example is so immense and we are so accostumed to it that any concrete proposal doesn't seem to change enough of it?
People have to forget about recycling and start thinking about compostable materials
Recycling costs more energy than manufacturing new product; it was never sustainable. Only stopping the manufacture of certain products & food production methods can lower our impact... but people will never unite worldwide, so it'll be collapse & Mad Max idiocy. "Reduce. Reuse. Recycle". Remember that? The first two are practical and save people time, money, labor & actually lessen the degree of the problem. Recycling, however, is just another snakehead added to the Medusa of global industry. It won't lessen the cause of the problem, it just disguises it as window dressing.
When I first studied environmental science I got so negative and anti-human in a way. That was a huge mistake. Being an environmentalist does not have to mean anti-human. Being a humanitarian and environmentalist is absolutely possible.

Paper straws suck so bad
I see what you did there
yup they get all wet and crumble -.- rather use no staw, here in quebec we even get wooden forks and knives from restaurants -.- its also illegal for a store to give a plastic bag to a customer, yet the world's plastic and/nature is over 20% of all the country's on earth, not talking about hunting/fishing anything alive for their 'traditional medicine' without givin a sht about quotas and protected species, get all you can sell or eat (theyre not the only country) yet our gouvernment are obsessed about electric cars and plastic straws like its something relevant at all compared to whats going on else where, they just want votes for acting like they know how to help planet when they know nothing about it 😓
And have carcinogens in them. Gotta be something nasty, to make the paper somewhat repel water without getting ruined instantly.
The acknowledgement of no standard for recycling across all states, it does make it very difficult to want to assist in preventing damage without putting time into it. Recycling should be easier and simplr than it is
The fact is that by the time you purchase something, whether or not it’s recyclable, 99% of the environmental impact has already been made. Recyclability of a product does not guarantee good environmental outcomes.
Recycling of steel and aluminum likely have some impact; recycling infrastructure is more mature, and recycled material does not have to be mined. I don't know as much about glass, paper, and cardboard recycling; given there are markets, I guess there are more benefits than negatives. Plastic recycling makes you feel better without accomplishing much of anything.
My favorite irony is that the petroleum plasitic industry invented the green recycle ♻️ symbol as a marketing campaign. Something close to 90% of things with this are not, can not, and will not be recycled, but it makes you feel good.
The speech in this video is a sincere journey of realizing the complexity of addressing environmental issues. From being proud of environmental conservation efforts to realizing the arrogance and consequences of criticism, the speaker has undergone a process of self-awareness and deeper understanding of oneself and their mission.
I am deeply impressed and encouraged by the honesty and sincerity in this conversation. Sometimes, finding solutions to environmental problems is not simply about imposing rules or criticism, but also about finding ways to connect and create meaningful solutions that people can actively and meaningfully participate in.
This conversation is a valuable reminder of the importance of understanding, connecting, and respecting the diversity of perspectives in seeking solutions to environmental issues. Thank you to the speaker for sharing and creating opportunities for us to reflect and learn from each other.

why are Environmentalists NOT pushing the use of hemp it is 100% recyclable . you can make plastics , batteries, building materials , medicines and the list goes on .
I listened to this and just got very angry. The people who are throwing garbage everywhere, ruining the environment, thats is it, this is the final straw! 🥁 I cannot take it anymore!
How about we think of all the plastic used at Costco to shrink wrap everything into large consumption size? Do we all need to drink water out of those crap plastic water bottles? Is it right for states like Washington to charge 8 cents a bag for groceries when everything bought in the store is in plastic? Why are these states selling “heavier” plastic bags (so called re-useable, which never are) when they could use cardboard boxes or paper bags? Don’t point fingers at me (so to speak) when regulators aren’t willing to start at the beginning of the chain.
You will know them by their fruits.
I was shocked that Jordan decided to use his hyper-valuable time talking to Adrien Grenier. As a super fan of Entourage, I appreciated what he brought to that show, but that's where it ends for me. He actually seems fairly bright, but to say he's self-absorbed would be damning him with faint praise. Jordan actually seems to be a bit of a "fan-boy" for Hollywood types and famous people in general, which is a huge surprise to me. Nobody's perfect, we all indulge our guilty pleasures.
Honestly this whole conversation felt more like a stange virtue signaling from a celebrity. 'I was bad, and now I'm so morally changed, look at me!' Cool bro
For a guy who single-handed brought the word 'archetype' back into broad use, Jordan missed a golden opportunity to call out this actor on his archetypal self-important entitled behavior. Adrian sort of realizes his foolishness, but he sort of doesn't, as he doubles down on his ongoing 'activism'. Call it like it is Jordan, small brain loud voice.
Agree ..I was thinking the same thing..Adrian seems to still have a bit of that smug activist in him..

Energy will never be cheap if the people who own said energy companies continue to have anything to say about it. Why do you think everyone who has invented and presented a new form of cheap and/or actually renewable energy in the past always finds themselves in life crippling debt or 6ft under the ground? That's where these activists should focus if they actually want change.
I can't recommend George Reisman enough when it comes to criticizing environmentalist and the wrong they do!
You mean growing up in NYC. That’s where all the garbage is.
Jordan, I think the words your guest may have been looking for at the end are: feedback and accountability. That what made him feel both empowered and aware. The majority of environmental activist have neither tangible, measurable feedback nor accountability in their campaigns. Just feel good shouting campaigns and insults for you if you're not with them.
Well this is an interview I never thought I’d see. These two have both influenced millions of men in *very* different ways. But how cool that Adrian recognized his own haughtiness (pun sort-of intended).
These people go environmental before understanding basic ecology.
Adrian's one of the very few sensible liberals. It's refreshing to see that self-awareness.
Most liberals are plenty sensible just like Adrian here. You just never see them because they are busy working than being good parents.

It's easy to pass judgement onto others because they are just doing what the societal norm is and obviously that's almost certainly going to be a way that is in direct conflict with your own perspective. I.e. easy targets. The trouble is, they don't have an ideal on the subject, the majority are innocent albeit naive bystanders doing what is just part of habit. Environmentalism is an ideal which influences habit, and there are always us and them conflicts involved in ideals. Even though I am environmentally aware, I have had to be deliberately concious of not passing on my ideas on to my friends, as they do not deserve to be judged. It's not anyone's fault or responsibility. I believe its governments.
Funny Jordan mentions at 2:32 how these people try to change other people. That sounds like something a woman would do more so than a guy. For the most part, guys just want to be left alone. You never hear of a guy in a relationship with a woman saying he's going to try and change her. It's always the other way around.
No. It’s not.
@@debblouin Yeah, actually it is. The ratio is likely 100:1.
That’s cause men’s role in a relationship isn’t to tame the chaos in the woman.
His role is to provide for her.
The woman’s role (and desire according to every study done on the subject) in a relationship is to tame his animalistic side so that he can provide for her and protect her.
@antibull4869 Well, that sounds exactly what Karen's on the progressive side. What are doing or at least trying to do to everybody else? Control them control the animal instinct. Submission
For the guys it’s just easy to walk away. Quitting is their cop out. But some women keep their peace, digging in with a gentle and prayerful heart, and do not nag. And some men gather themselves and stick it out and stand through it all. Both are happening at the same time in this world. 🌿

Education/Leadership Failure.
Hence We have Progressed from Littering with Cigarette Butts to Littering with Everything.

It's ALL litter anyways. More than 99% of everything humans make, use, trash, etc. is somewhere on planet earth.

Things tasted and last longer on glass containers.. but it was cost effective for the low income… he is so right the best way to help the environment is to eliminate poverty… but that requires like he said for us to be fuel independent which Dems don’t want
You're as backward as Jordan on this. It's the large scale corporate systems of the rich throughout the industrial age that have polluted the environment, not the ignorance of the poor. How can you eliminate poverty without producing MORE for the poor demographic, which would almost certainly be done by the same industrial methods that have caused the pollution. This is NOT an economic problem, it's a behavioral one.

Simple solution to pollutions, so simple and practical. Fine people heavily for littering everywhere land and sea. When persons cannot pay, they will work for the govt sanitation and pick up garbage, and get a stipend for that week or weeks to live on....Companies get fined the most, and monies from these fines will go direct to fund govt sanitation area only. Or, the fact that micro plastics is harmful not only to us but to any living organism (well except for few bacteria that eat a form of plastic)

What do environmentalists get wrong, exactly? What is the purpose of this clip? He realized that an individual cannot make a difference when solving environmental problems and that change is only possible collectively and usually by pushing governments to regulate corporations or apply universal standards and that is a very difficult task.
The environment is a collective action problem. Most major problems we are afflicted with today are collective action problems, not individual problems. The answer isn't to turn a blind eye, give up, stick your head in the sand and "work on yourself".
What you will find is that if you do that for years, inevitably, you will continuously run up against these collective action problems. You can turn away, focus on yourself, your own life, your own problems. Become the best version of you. But what you will find is that again and again you will run into societal or global level collective action problems.
Focus on yourself, get a good job, kick your drug and porn habit, etc. That's great. What happens when you've done all that? When you've ordered things well? But what happens when you can't afford to buy a home because prices are insane, there are no new homes being built, and banks and investments firms have bought up a 5th of your town and pushed rent through the roof? What happens when you can't find a partner to start a family with because society has broken down. Social media and dating apps have put people into a mental health crisis? You can't even walk your favorite park or woodland anymore because it has been paved over and turned into another highway or stripmall or housing development for rich people or old people (who are usually rich)? You can't afford a plot of land to enjoy simple pleasures of having a garden for yourself. Even if you could, you wouldn't have time because ever spare minute and cent you have is going to pay rent, taxes, food, and bills. Even if you by luck found a great partner in the sea of chaos you could never afford to start a family anyway.
I agree with everything you said is a problem I disagree that more regulation is the answer. Regulation is the root cause of many problems. “Pushing governments to regulate “ bad idea one many different levels. I wish I had an answer I don’t. In my opinion regulating makes things worse

@@Si_Mondo You have only proven my point...real environmentalism isn't switching a straw....its tackling the fact of the detrimental side effects of modern human population. If you don't acknowledge that something need to be done about species extinction...the massive amounts of garbage in the environment...pecdicide runoff....you aren't being real with the problem
So it’s a “MORAL HAZARD” to change the way people think!!!!!!
