- Apparently liking Ancient Leshen is too controversial and some of you guys made fun of me when I said it was my favorite monster in base World and as punishment there will be no description today
Alright on a more serious note. The reason why Extremoth and Ancient Leshen are my favorite fights in base World is because they are the only interesting and difficult monsters in that game (AT KT too).
I am not denying at all that Extremoth and Ancient Leshen are bullshit fights when fought with High Rank gear. At the time yes, they were stupidly difficult. If you didn't know, Ancient Leshen actually has more HP than Fatalis, sitting at 67,000 HP.
There's something I can't really explain about the tedious mechanics of both fights that make them interesting to me. They're serious endurance fights where staying on the move and not being greedy is a great strategy.
Even the teleport mechanic of Ancient Leshen is something I never disliked. You can nerf its teleport, and you can tell where it is going to teleport, so it's never been a big deal to me.
And also let's be real for a second... You're fighting a humanoid monster that's wearing pants, and instead of having some kind of really creepy noises or something to fit its appearance, it goes "ourgh", "oof" and "uorg" when you stagger it... All this in Monster Hunter. Idk but it's fucking amazing to me. Ancient Leshen also has amazing music which helps a lot.
I will never forget helping players against Ancient Leshen and Extremoth in the base game before Iceborne released, it is genuinely the best experience I had in this game. This run was really freaking good, I'm very happy I managed sub 11 because I spend a long time trying to speedrun this thing. There's also like, no speedruns of Ancient Leshen because no one cares about this monster but me, so yeah at least I'm filling that niche a bit.
The irony of all this is that some of you probably know I'm a huge Cyberpunk 2077 fan ; and I have never played any of The Witcher games.

It's okay, you can have bad takes like everyone else. But in all seriousness, S tier quest in terms of a crossover event thing, but F tier in terms of the monster itself.
That was fun to watch. And your fashion is so clean. Looks like a little Devil Girl that's ready to chop (or bonk?) some wood monstah down with her massive Axe!

Your description of the sounds Leshen makes when he got hit got me giggling 😂!! And you're right!! He's the only monster who wears pants in this game 👖!!! Witcher soundtrack is such a banger 👌!! Those aerial bonks deals nearly 900 damage!! Holy 😲!!! The prediction of where he's gonna teleport to is on point at 6:57 and the immediate teleport that followed. I remember seeing a aerial run of ancient leshen by olay last year. It was probably with greatsword but I can't find it anymore.

I just solo’d Ancient Leshen about a week ago with my full Alatreon set and Kjarr fire hammer in about 37 minutes, (I am aware I am not using Fatalis gear or anything from the guiding lands or even augments, so I am making the challenge way harder on myself) so seeing this brings a tear to my eye as a hammer purist.
No shame here! I don't have any Fatalis gear yet, since im struggling with The Black Dragon special assignment 😅 Im waiting for the Safi siege to come out, so I can farm it and have decent gear to challenge Fatalis again
Im currently rocking a 3 piece Alatreon and 2 piece Nergigante, although I plan on switching Negri out with another 2 piece set since his passive skill isn't worth it, when I can augment my Lance or IG to have health regen
So, is the Ice Attack, on the armor, a byproduct of the set?

I personally love Behemoth and its EX quest but couldn't stand Leshen. Respect to your outlook tho I totally understand.
Something about how its body is designed makes MH weapons feel really weird when trying to hit its head (didn't help my initial dive into World was learning DBs so the head and beyblade were just...not really options). But the big reason why I prefer Behemoth was that it felt more accurate to the crossover. Behemoth coming from an MMO feels like an actual Trial boss with roles to play, aggro to manage, and mechanics to set up and execute, just adding MH's chaotic flair. EX on top much like 14's Trials is the same fight but with harder restrictions, further need to clear mechanics, and even Enrage wipes.
Leshen meanwhile comes from a single player RPG which it nails in the Geralt quest, but Ancient Leshen despite being compared to Death March from W3 was (at the time) a horrible solo experience in spite of where the monster comes from. The actual mechanics are cool and like Behemoth taught you to use your full arsenal at hand (although maybe a bit too much reliance on Flashes, Rocksteady, and Health Augment), but it certainly had the pop off moment of beating it, even if Behemoth that pop off was wanting to do it again while ALeshen was more a "thank god that's over" for me.

health regen augment, not really a skill. It's obtained from doing stuff in the guiding lands
Holy shit. I was just attempting this garbage fight solo today with CB! Unfortunately ran out of time in the final area
Keep in mind this is with endgame Master Rank gear. If you're in HR I recommend you don't bother with Ancient Leshen solo, this fight is designed for 4 players at least.
