- First time ever the girls danced a Sega song! A beautiful mixture of Mauritian, Greek, Turks and Caicos, Italian, Uganda. This was our performance at my engagement party. We had so much fun putting this together and dancing. All choreographed by ourselves and music put together by my brother in law! All music are from UA-cam I don't own any.
Sega has similarities to chakacha ....danced to Swahili taarabs on the East African coastal .....i love Mauritius culture...very beautiful....much love from Kenya ❤❤❤❤❤

The ancestors came from different parts of Africa, it must be that. They also came from India, China, France.. So yeah.. A mixture of all those at the end.

I was born and live in the UK but most of my family, including my parents, are Mauritian and whenever we go to Mauritius it feels like home in some ways

My Mother was Mauritian and came here to the UK and had us (English Dad). Now she recently passed to covid and I wish I could have gone to Mauritius one more time with her. She was so happy there, especially at Flic En Flac. I hope you have many more trips 'home' with your parents.

Same Indian and African influence
Mauritius, Trinidad, and Guyana are very similar due to our mix of African and Indian mix in music, food, and people, we have the same history on how we came to Mauritius and the Caribbean.
Mauritius was the experiment for bringing in indentured labourers after the abolishment of slavery in the 18th century.
As it worked in Mauritius, they took Indians people to the Caribbean.
Actually, the ship would stop at Mauritius and pick more Indians before heading towards Guyana or Trinidad.
Sorry for the long history lessons.
My family has all 3 countries mixed in it.

VeeneestaNicole ya, it’s called jarabe tapatío and Im saying that it looks so much because of the skirts and how the skirts goes flying when they spin
Also they have flowers on their clothing and we also have flowers on lots of our traditional clothing
But all of this was beautiful to watch indeed
@@dornixrex2818 it also reminded me a lot of the Mexican folk dances from Veracruz. Check out "El Colas" or "La Bamba" (the traditional version) and you could definitely see the resemblance. I'm new to the Segá, but it's beautiful! 😍
