      And Incase they read this, the reason it's able to be called fucked up, is because some people (usually people who are racist, "but for good reasons") say that any accomplishment white people made, would have been made by black people if they were never enslaved... Which doesn't make sense for many reasons, but it is a theory you could come up with naturally.

      Yup the skateboarding and fast air travel jokes were just references to White Inventions that he would not get mad at her for using them. No White person is gonna see a Blk person playing videogames and scream at them that they are appropriating White culture. No one cares you can use whatever you want from White people.
      ...but on the flip side Blk people tend to call cultural appropriation anytime a White person uses their culture. Especially with White people using Blk hairstyles like cornrows, dreads, etc (But no one says anything when Cardi B & Nicki Minja wear Blonde Wigs, a European trait), or when they get mad at Elvis doing Blues music and leg shaking, or how they are with Eminem in the rap game. I got yelled at for wearing a bandana that I wore like a Do-rag to keep sweat out of my eyes. The smallest things Blk people will tell you it's not yours, I just never see it in the opposite.
      It's an ugly game to play to gatekeep your cultural achievements from other cultures. To be fair Black people wouldn't be able to do much at all if White people chose to try to block them from using cultural inventions. Everything from Movies & Videogames, to Computers & Air travel, to Cars & Internet. And people really wanna block White people from cornrows? I think White people would win that cultural appropriation game to be fair lol 😂🤣😂🤣

      I think the difference is that black people didn’t take up skate boarding and then tried to monopolize it, without creating businesses with the culture that we hypothetically took part of. We’re actually buying skateboards and plane tickets which is funding/supporting white owned businesses. You can’t say the same for black owned businesses. We’re the only race of people that have other races sell our hair care products to us unfortunately. Even hip hop based companies are owned by white executives with motives. Taco Bell is another big example of appropriation. You listening to Tupac, and me sitting on an airplane is not appropriation.

    • @carllangley6812
      @carllangley6812 2 роки тому

      @@ellesbells902 It's very easy for you to blame it on a capitalistic market that has a history of bigotry. And I'm not the person to go around and call everything racist so I can stop you right there. The things I find truly racist is at the capital level. A poor white woman calling me the n word does nothing to me. But you're not going to sit here and tell me that the concept of "Tex-Mex" is not appropriating. Like I said, we're supporting your businesses from your cultures, but not the other way around. Because we have respect for different cultures, but no one respects ours for some odd reason. Also when I say "ours", I mean FBAs. Not immigrants from African/Caribbean countries that like to claim the good, but separate themselves from the bad of the FBA culture. There's no black Irish pub owners out here because black people respect other cultures, and also no white person is going to spend money on a black owned Irish pub. Ultimately, I feel that black people have it WAY better than we did during the 50's/60's, but we can't just forget what was done to us either.

      @@ellesbells902 I'm sorry. This might be the first FBA male that you've encountered that was educated, and didn't ask for hand outs or play the victim card. I come from a family of middle class, hard working FBAs (They do exist by the way), and lived in black suburban neighborhoods (they also exist by the way) my entire life. I haven't cried about deprivation in my entire life, but I do know a corrupt, and biased "free market" that has deep roots in white supremacy when I see it. The fact that it's been proven that the moment my hard working black ass moves into a predominately white neighborhood brings down the property value instantly (not drastically but still decreases) is a true form of racism. Not being called the n-word, or dealing with "Karens" that have nothing going for them in life. If you ask me, you and I are both in the same sinking ship, it's just FBA's are at the bottom of it.

    He is so correct on Elvis. THe Man kicked the doors wide-open!! He stole nothing..he until the day died said he paid tribute to the music he loved. He also broke the doors wide open to philanthropy..that's taking your wealth and spreading it around..Elvis was the first to give 250, OOO Dollars to the Memorial at Pearl Harbor for the USS Arizona. The memorial that millions have walked on in Hawaii today..may not have been possible if not for Elvis.

    This is one of my favorite topics, only because I read and observe a lot. I saw that Conan interview long ago. Watching it now, I can understand the confusion and distastefulness that may result in Burr's poor landing of what he was trying to hit home. He was basically discussing a certain kind of women, the ones who are overly self-entitled and play the victim card for their personal agenda, whatever that may be. He was also trying to express anger and frustration at how society tends to side with women unconditionally especially in domestic violence and abuse cases. We as a society still have much work to do and spread awareness. But the reason why domestic violence and abuse against men is marginal is because society taught men to "man up" or "just grin and bear it." They suffer in silence.

    Elvis did not appropriate any culture and would always give credit to the blues musicians. So bill's wife is completely wrong about Elvis.

      Listen, Appropriation arose because white people usually exclude black people from their history when inventing things. Remember when the Country crowd tried to remove Lil Nas X from Country Road and credited only Billy Ray Cyrus and this was 2016? That's why it's a problem.

    • @changetocome100

      You don't get it, he literally would steal entire songs and sounds and because they were living in oppressed America there was nothing they could do. And Elvis as well as white ppl act like he originated his sound, looks and dance...he was a bad copy, pretty much vanilla ice in black ppl's eyes.

    • @SSJ2Phenom
      @SSJ2Phenom 2 роки тому +1

      No, Bill's wife is 100% correct. You're wrong. Elvis never gave credit to Big Mama who sang "Hound Dog" first. There was a bunch of other songs that he "covered" as well whose originators or populators that he never offered recognition, money, or thanks to.
      Now, I'm sure there is probably an article or two out there and such where he might've said something, but they were very VERY rare. There was only one black artist to whom Elvis offered credit, recognition, and thanks to; and he did it quite often. That was Jackie Wilson. The person who inspired Elvis's now "iconic 🤦🏾‍♂️" dancing and furled up-side lip singing style. Jackie Wilson was the only one that Elvis seemed to genuinely appreciate.
      Even so, Elvis is far from the only guilty party of "cultural appropriation" during the 50s and 60s. The Beach Boys straight up STOLE at least 2 melodies from Chuck Berry (there's accusations for a third). I mean they didn't change not one note. "Surfin USA" the entire melody, beat, and even the damn time was 100% stolen from Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen". Y'all who apologize for those acts embarrass me. I bet y'all are the same type who say Bruno Mars is stealing. Such BS.

      @@christopherking4932 This isn't my opinion. These are facts. Also, how did I put you down? Just corrected your 100% inaccurate information. If I'm wrong, prove me wrong. I mean, the Beach Boys/Chuck Berry thing is a matter of public record since, ya know, that Berry successfully sued them for theft and copyright infringement over their using 2 of his original melodies for 2 of their songs (Their biggest hits 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️). You really have absolutely no idea what you're talking about do you?
      It's common knowledge, for those who care enough to learn, that Elvis refrained from publicly acknowledging the artists songs he "covered" and the only reason he would acknowledge Jackie Wilson is because the two of them became friends when Elvis was first beginning. Everything that Elvis got huge fame for, save for his voice, was taken from black artists of the time. He even styled his hair like Jackie Wilson did in the late 50s and early 60s. Everything is online and easy to find. Clearly that matters not to you though.
      Anyways, you have fun living in that fantasy. The thing here is that I'm not even calling Elvis a racist or anything like that but to act as though he got famous based on his own originality is just foolish, inaccurate, and objectively false.
      ✌🏾🤡
