It still amazes me how they can put massive cruise ships with elevators, many rooms and attractions, power, restaurants and much more and keep it above water. Something that seems impossible but when you think about it, it's quite amazing! And the fact that the wind doesn't take the boat totally down is also incredible. Though I bet it's not pleasant feeling it.
That’s engineering for ya. It’s even more impressive when bigger and bigger ships like the Icon of the Seas keep hitting the water. Almost seems like they’re defying the laws of physics.
These are beautiful elevators! I never knew Kone makes a special product for marine use. All cruise ships I have been on had Kone elevators, I assume of the same kind. I also like how the different banks of elevators have different color effects inside!! I’m so happy you and Zack had such a good time on your cruise.
These are one of the nicest elevators I ever seen on a cruise ship before, I like the color of the elevator cab and such amazing too see a cruise elevator
Also it's interesting to see that this ship was built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri but it uses KONE elevators which is a bit unusual. Most ships built by Fincantieri use Schindler since their marine elevator division is based in Genoa, Italy. KONE ones are usually installed in ships built by STX Europe/Meyer Turku of Finland, or Chantiers de l'Atlantique of France.
Awesome elevators. We sailed on the Carnival Pride years ago and it had 15 nice Montgomery passenger elevators to ride. Three of them we're glass elevators in a giant atrium. The others were in three banks of four elevators per bank.
I actually think boat elevators are specially designed to not move too much if the boat rocks because when the doors are open you dont see the elevator move very much
Andrew, I can understand trying to stand up on the boat can be hard due to rocking, i can imagine like when you have to go poop, sitting on the toilet can be hard because of the rocking boat. Also very nice elevators
Awesome it’s very cool to discover a cruise ship that has elevators. I wonder if you can film the glass elevators if you find any of them on this cruise. I would love to see it if possible but I do love these elevators. It’s nothing but surely we always have a happy and safe ride
Ohh my apologies Andrew because I’m most cruise ships they have glass elevators. I’ve been on a cruise before called MSC and they had a bank of elevators including glass elevators
Found some KONE M Series on the Royal Carribean Brilliance of the Seas. Music ws playing very light in FWD, No music in MIDSHIP lifts, except for oceanic view lifts. I have video public on TikTok.
Amazing, and far better than the ones in the ship where I work now! Nice to hear they have Drucegrove voice announcement from the UK; some other newer ships with KONE elevators also use that voice. KONE never disappoints, they're far better than Schindler IMO even though I've never been on the latter. Very interesting riding an elevator that is literally traveling around the world. Yep it does feel unpleasant walking around the ship whilst rocking around especially when you have seasick. The higher deck you go the more unpleasant you might feel. I work in the cruise industry and I'm already used to it 😀
@@DieselDucy Can't tell due to privacy matter, but you'll know when you look at KONE Marine's brochure. That's why nowadays I travel a lot and film different kinds of elevators (mostly in Europe).
Kone actually rarely use Drucegrove Digitalker ACUs in their lifts; they used to back in the early 2000s, but they only ever use them in the case of custom announcements, e.g. the Shard in London.

It's literally like a moving hotel.

As huge as that ship is, however; It is still just a blip on the ocean.....
@@DieselDucy epic elevators
Office buildings: we have the nicest elevators
Cruise ships: so you have projectors in your elevator and tv screens in the walls too?
Totally!

The cruise was amazing
Very nice elevators. 10/10 on the ElevatorMan Elevator Decoration Scale.
It was nice.

They were very nice.
Agree, those elevators are better then most land elevators around here.
Very luxurious elevator! Feels like you’re underwater! And yeah it’s pretty hard standing on a boat that rocks
It was a great cruise

Very cool! I want to ride on a carnival ship.
Should be KONE, since the ship was built in Finland in 2001. Montgomery never made marine elevators at all.
Nice Kone marines with Drucegrove Digitalkers installed!
I like them
Genting Dream (Resort Worlds Cruises) also have that voice as well.
@@idl3k_elevI think most Kone Marines have that voice, I rode the Enchanted Princess and they also had that voice.
@@DieselDucy So do I, they're my favourite
@@DieselDucyOtis uses it quite a lot in the UK, for example all of the Otis Gen2s in Westfield Stratford all have that speech unit
Imagine the cab rocking back forth while in an elevator while moving up or down.
Yep lol
I do like those newer style kone buttons and the tv screen at the back
They were nice

Read the description. There is only one more public elevator on the boat that I will post soon. No glass elevator.

@@DieselDucy You should check out the Icon Of The Seas KONE Marines. They are Polaris (Destination) elevators.

Very cool elevators!
Thanks
What kind of Ledos and what kind of music? I think that that is country rock ‘n’ roll music

They are! The whole boat is amazing. Best thing. Adult only cruise. Nobody under 18 allowed.

Kone elevator door close works with a view of the steps
Yep
Those are nice elevators. It almost looks like a dance floor. Where is this cruise ship located?
I was somewhere on the Gulf of Mexico.

Me too.
I think someone I knew was on this ship, maybe even at the same time as you 👀
Awesome !!
Can you please do the UK
Someday.
Have you ever caught your hand in an elevator door when it opened?
No
It's pretty hard to stay still when the boat rocks like that.
It really is
Especially when you have seasick.
@@idl3k_elev Yeah, the turbulence is impossible to tolerate.
Yeah, it is. From my experience of being on cruise ships though, riding the elevators kinda mitigates the rocking feeling.
Feels weird riding an elevator that leans sideways a bit.
Why couldn't you get to floor 17?
Because the elevators don’t go there. There is a small hydro that does that I will post soon
Is it a normal sized elevator or a European style platform lift with swing doors?
@@idl3k_elevJust a prediction, it’s probably the latter.
@@DJSpinSter2004Yeah I bet it's a Motala KONE MC2000 chain driven platform lift. The ship where I work has that model.
Is that in Europe or in Mexico
Somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico en route to the Bahamas
