    Just caught your channel. I'm a surface designer. I had a portable Epson scanner for 3 years. Worked great until I recently did an update on my computer. I tried and tried to delete/add and Epson didn't wanna work. Gave to daughter. I'm using my HP printer/scanner and it gave a cleaner result. I didn't have to adjust color and stuff. I also use Affinity Designer/Photo/Illustrator. It's like photoshop,adobe ill. etc. One difference, there's not subscription. One time purchase. Available on apple and android. What you're doing is similar to what I do. Great tutorial.

    Wow.. wow.. wow... thank you so much. This is one of the most helpful videos I have come across. I am a grandmother who loves watercolour painting and I'm looking at selling digital prints of my artwork on etsy. I had no idea how to go about it but your video has been so helpful. It was suggested to me by one of my grandchildren that I give this ago but at first it seamed like a really scary process. After carefully watching your video I am now thinking that I may be able to do this or at least give it a try.

    Love your walk-through of how to do this. I have watched a lot of videos on digitalizing artwork. Each one has eye opening comments, or steps to take. In your case, when you did things, like using the magic eraser, you explained what was happening, instead of just saying ‘click the magic eraser’. Thanks for this video!

    I find that the healing brush tool is easier to use for removing pieces of dust that are in the middle of the drawing. Would be worth a try because you don't have to do the alt click. If it's next to a darker area, it can cause a distortion, but overall I prefer it.

    Thank you so much for this. This is finally a video that explains it correctly I do coloured pencil artworks, and when I want to do them in a print, I have a hard time removing the paper background which is kind of like a greyish colour especially if there’s like a lot of white highlights or white fur in my drawings, this has helped me tremendously❤

    300 dpi if you want prints that are original size but if you want to size up then you would need a higher resolution

    Your video is really helpful to me, Kirsten. Thank you So much.
    I have a question. When deciding to save it as rgb or cmyk, why it is good to save as rgb if you’re selling it digitally? Seems like the colors wouldn’t print as nicely or close to the original colors.
    I love your painting very much and really appreciate all the details you shared with us.

    • @kirstynamanda
      @kirstynamanda  Рік тому

      so glad to hear the video was helpful!! so I should have explained in this video that when I open a file it automatically opens in RGB however you want to change that to CMYK for printing as it is a better color mode for printing. I only leave my file in RGB if I am not printing it. apologies that I missed this in the video & hope that makes sense!! 😊

    Excellent tutorial Kirstyn. I appreciate the detail and patience throughout all of this. I'm curious, do you worry about the texture showing on the actual image? Meaning, I have scanned a water color and my clouds show the paper texture. Is that okay? Eveything I've seen talks about removing the background and the water color paper texture, but nothing mentions the actual image. Since I am super duper new (a couple of months) I'm honestly not sure if it's okay to have the paper texture visible on that actual image. Hope that made sense. Thanks!

    • @kirstynamanda
      @kirstynamanda  9 місяців тому

      thanks for the comment! I do not worry about the texture of the paper on the image at all. I definitely want my painting to be authentic so I try to alter the actual artwork as little as possible. if it really bothers you, you could try painting on a hot press paper (depending what style of watercolor you do) which is a bit smoother and will create less texture. the paper I used for the painting in this video is handmade, so definitely more textured than your average watercolor paper. if you’d like to use cold press but are worried about texture, I recommend the arches cold press paper 🙂 of course you could try editing the texture out but that’s a personal preference for yourself. hope that helps!

    • @mgardner63
      @mgardner63 9 місяців тому

      @@kirstynamanda Actually, this is exactly what I hoped you might say. I like the texture on the image and don't want to lose that unique aspect of water color. Thanks for responding so quickly. I'm definitely a new fan!! I'll be watching!

    This was so helpful! Also this may sound like a silly question, but I was wondering what laptop you use because I wasn’t sure if the photo scanner needs a specific laptop or not! And I’m trying to figure out what laptop to purchase!☺️

    • @kirstynamanda
      @kirstynamanda  2 роки тому +1

      yay!! I didn’t end up changing it in this video, but I am typically using CMYK as it’s better for printing. the only time I have used the RGB is when I have digital products for sale (which I don’t currently), like a logo or a graphic!

    Hi there -- question for you... the Epson software you are using is the best and easiest to use -- but when I got a new computer, the software is the Epson 2 and, I can't for the life of me, get back to the software you are using. Have you heard anyone else having that issue? I really want to use the software that has the settings you have.

    • @kirstynamanda
      @kirstynamanda  Рік тому +1

      hey, I am not sure how to get Epson 1 back but I did get a new computer too and I believe it is Epson 2.. in my “how to make art prints” video I walk through the scanner settings on my new computer - maybe check that out and see if it looks the same?? 🤗
