#GuildDay #1964GuildStarfireIII 1)Where Have All the Good Times Gone/Kinks 2) Stayin’ Alive/Brothers Gibb (BeeGees) 3) Good Lovin/Rascals that’s a beautiful Guild, fantastic 🔥🔥🔥 Hello’s to Mark & Jen 🎥🎸😎
That guitar in that finish is gorgeous. Has sound of early 60s Beatles. Mark you Are an amazing musician and real pro. Never missed a chord when the pick flipped out of your hand. Always a great show.
1.The Kinks "Where Have All The Good Times Gone"..Ain't that the truth!...2.The Bee Gees "Stayn Alive" 3.The Rascals "Good Lovin" That'd be nice...:-) That a sexy twanger lady I must type not say!
Currently sitting at home on the sofa, as I have been all damn week, after having a wisdom tooth out and have been happily falling in to "Guitar of the Day" UA-cam holes. I just let the playlist run. Thanks so much! You have utterly saved my sanity!
All Day and All of the Night, Dave Davies and the Kinks. That was the guitar, his first good guitar that was promptly stolen on the group's legendary ill-fated first trip to these shores (USA). He was crushed and finished the tour with beat up Gibson Flying V. The Guild is a fabulous guitar. Thanks for the excellent demo.
Beautiful guitar! For a guitar crazy guy, like myself, all the history that Mark shares behind the instrument is a true killer. Great videos. High 5 from Lisbon/Portugal!
I watch you guys everyday, mark you inspire me to keep playing guitar and have taught me so many things and showed me so many great songs/artists that I never heard before. This Saturday is my 21st birthday, it’ll make my whole day if you guys gave me a shoutout! Safe to say I’ll drink MANY shots for you guys if you do
I just bought the same guitar a few months ago. Really love it!! Plays well and stays in tune. Had it adjusted and tweaked a bit but is in mint condition, with original case!!! Made at their Hoboken, NJ factory.
I'm happy to say that I too own a Starfire III. Not too sure of the year, but I got it second hand in the late 70s. I love the way it plays. And those pickups are hot poop!
Thanks, I visited Guild in Westerly R.I. for some warranty work, nice people. Then when they moved to the Ovation plant in New Hartford Ct. You could feel the stress. They were unsure of their future, kind of what Gibson must be like now.
You gotta play one of these things loud and overdriven. I played a friends recently and once I learned how to control and manipulate the feedback it started to feel like I could cast spells with this thing. It sounded more powerful than it felt in my hands. And when I was playing standard bluesy classic rock riffs I really couldn't believe how good it was sounding. I was also plugged into a Laney which was new for me. The sound and tone I was getting reminded me of Cream and Sabbath. The guitar sounded like an SG to me with a slight Gretsch chime and a lot of feedback. Also the single cut away look on this is my favorite look ever for a guitar.
I have had the great pleasure of owning for 52 straight years a 65 Starfire V custom order, clear maple body , Bigsby delete, Hagstrom adjust-o-matic floating bridge... This era Guilds are awesome guitars, made by people who lovingly cared. Somebody buy this gorgeous Starfire.. you might just want it the rest of your life...
I really enjoy the videos with the unusual guitars. It might not sell on the first day, but I think the difference between me and Mark is that I want to see interesting guitars, he wants to sell stuff.
Hey Mark and Jen! I’ve been watching the show every day for god knows how long now. Tomorrow’s my eighteenth birthday, and I hate to be a bandwagoner but it would be cool as hell to get a shout out. Best wishes for your families guys. ✌🏻🎸
Old Guild's are rad man!! Also, Mark & jen, i'm in the hospital with double pneumonia and the wife just brought my laptop,so you and Jen have pulled me out of the suck of hospital cable and cnn so thanks man and congrats on the subs..You & jen worked for them,,,You rock man!
Ryan Williams I would have made this same comment if you hadn't! Guild guitars have always been second to none, and their prices have always been comparatively low. Now that people are really discovering the vintage market and figuring it out, a lot of them are finally realizing that many guitars that USED to be considered "second rate," have really been overlooked! The only problem I have with that is that soon, the prices of these kinds of "second rate" guitars will eventually skyrocket. Buy them now, or lose out..
very nice guitar , would love to hear those humbuckers overdriven and crunchy , haven't seen very many guild guitars , I like it , no hollow bodies in my collection , yet. happy belated women's day , should do a set dedicated to the ladies , some joan jett ,, nancy Wilson , bonnie raitt etc.
Maybe they are all over here on the east coast. I live in Massachusetts and I see these around more than never. My cousins got a really nice old guild acoustic. The guy who owns the guitar shop in the next town over. He got a couple of that guitar (star fire ). I guess. Looks like that one. Old guild guitars were great. Now not so much
Hey Mark, why is there so many great guitarists in the USA Italian background - Bonnamassa, Satriani, Vai, Agnesi - yep I included you in there, you are my kids hero and I think you rock and my wife just likes you - mmm. Respect from the UK. Say hi to Jen.
Does that neck pickup sound super thick to anyone else. I had a Bluesbird back in 2003 but the pickups didn’t sound like this. I really like this sound.
A beautiful axe! Nice Guild advert having that model, a nice competitor to the ES/335’s. Cherry finish is the shizzle. Tone is fantastic, clean. Now, a slight segue, how about some Rory Gallagher just for a change?
Ok, I am starting to dig you guys... keep it up... anyone can get a vintage Gibson or Martin, but let us see some more of those sexy Guilds!!!! My fave electric is a 1978 S-300D in either faded brown or the factory black or a 1970's BluesBird in any damn color!!! for Acoustics, I would like to see a 1967 M-20 or a 1980 SongBird in black. If you can't get any of those old Guilds, then how about an old 70's Hagstrom Swede?? Thx Mark and Jen!!!!!
This was available in dark green stain. If you wanted a green Gibson had to be special ordered, but they would have a 4 month lead time plus an upcharge.
Along forgotten guitar!!!! My first exposure of these guitars was a neighbor who had one of these and a 12 string version double cut. Way cool to see other brands other then Gibson and Fender. Now bring on the VOX guitars.
I had a tobacco burst, arch top, f-hole Guild with one soapbar pickup and no cutaway. Found it in a pawn shop in SF in the early 70s for about $80. Put gold Grovers on it and it was a beaut. Guild written in script ala Gibson on the headstock. Had to be early 50s model. Took it to Maui in 76 and it was ripped off. Still miss that guitar.
Holy shit. There’s my dam Guild I’ve been asking for. Only took about a year and a half but hey marks a man for the people. Mark for president in 2020
Thought about you when I saw the title lmao. Congrats
You and me both, man. Yay!
The Agnesi/Guitarlos ticket might just have a chance.

with TV Jones & a Chet Atkins thin bar Bigsby, oh so sweet!
Great video & playing, nice one!
I’m lucky enough to have one of these. Does that 60s snarl and jangle thing. Love it.

Say hi to Jen.
Does that neck pickup sound super thick to anyone else. I had a Bluesbird back in 2003 but the pickups didn’t sound like this. I really like this sound.
Dave Butcher wayyyyy crunchier than the other pick ups. The bridge was 100x cleaner than the neck. I noticed it as well.
I missed this before but now an upscale guit to my long gone Harmony Rocket II .
Had a 65 that I traded in for a 69 LP Custom back in 1970. Still have the LP and wish I had the Guild.
Mark throws the pick away at 7:16 like a boss!
Guilds getting a nod is always a nice sight to behold! But still gotta see a Maton! Gotta do a Maton!
Very nice ! Sweet color. Sweet playing!
Looks minty from here.Nice to see something less common too.
5:17 guy in the back looks at the price tag and is like "whoa, Im outta here"
That’s it, you guys are grounded.
One of Neil Giraldo's favorite guitars.
Steve McHenry---yeah...I forgotten about that...he plays a nice one currently....
I could see getting some killer surf sounds out of that
A beautiful axe! Nice Guild advert having that model, a nice competitor to the ES/335’s. Cherry finish is the shizzle. Tone is fantastic, clean. Now, a slight segue, how about some Rory Gallagher just for a change?
I sent all my friends here! Love it!!!
Mid-60's guitar

Mid-60's sound!
That is a beautiful machine. Well done. Hey, guess what, still no air guitar?

Dude, you didn't mention that it's a full hollow body, unlike the 335.
I had a tobacco burst, arch top, f-hole Guild with one soapbar pickup and no cutaway. Found it in a pawn shop in SF in the early 70s for about $80. Put gold Grovers on it and it was a beaut. It was like that pick was shot out of cannon.
Pretty guitar.
Thanks Mom. Love you. Wiggle that stick Mark. Thanks Jen!
Also the Starfire XII, 12 string.
This guitar sounds like many 60's records !
