This is my favourite Dusty song controlled, restrained but producing very sensual music. In a interview about Dusty and the song, Bacharach said that, 'Dusty breathes heat' in to it. RIP

Bacharach composed this song as an instrumental for Stan Getz' 1966 album featuring Bacharach and David melodies. Then, in '67 David wrote the lyrics and Dusty sang the song for the movie Casino Royale. Hers is the original vocal version, and Dusty sang in a sensual mood that perfectly fit the slow, sultry bossa nova beat.

Dusty is my VERY FAVORITE female "British Invasion" singer. I have every song she has ever done. I began to think that they might be wigs. When I read her biography, it confirmed what I thought. Back in the '60s she DID wear wigs during any performances. I just LOVE her voice and how she moved her hands and arms when she sang, She had her OWN style. The Hair, the heavy black eyeshadow were also part of her "trademark look" CILLA BLACK is ANOTHER British Invasion singer that is fantastic, managed by Brian Epstein (the Beatles' manager) and she is from Liverpool.
Dusty Springfield was part of the British Invasion of the 1960s, and just a fantastic artist. Here's a list of her biggest hits:

Honestly, if I were going to recommend just one, I'd point you to "Son of a Preacher Man." But they're all good.
Oh, and you wondered aloud if her version of "The Look of Love" was the original. I think not. The Burt Bacharach composition first climbed the pop charts a year earlier than the Dusty Springfield version was released, in 1966, by Sergio Mendes and Brazil '66. The song has been covered by a seemingly countless number of A-list recording artists. But I've always favored the one by Dusty.
