Being I just got my first region free bluray player this video was a big help. Setting up the code selection was easier then I thought it would be,
For DVD/Blu-ray computer drives, the regions are both firmware and software set. The drives themselves decode disks to readable formats for the OS and software to use. Some optical drives' firmware can be updated to make the data available to read and unlock regions. Otherwise you typically only get a few times that a drive's region can be changed before it's region-locked.

Note on the game systems. PS3 PS4 PS5 Xbox One and Xbox series are region free when it comes to games but there bluray/dvd player is region locked so if you can change the region 5 times you would only mess up the bluray player plus if you install cfw on a ps3 and maybe a ps4 you could probably region unlock the bluray player but installing cfw means your jailbreaking the console to do so. Just a note on that section of the video

Good stuff! Many thanks for the clarity on the region issue. On another note, I have the Samsung BD-D5700 player that appears to have died. It keeps turning off. I also have a disc that I bought in 2014 from Amazon UK. On the back it says "All Region" and it always played in my Samsung. We also have the Sony BDP-S3100 player upstairs. We bought it on Amazon and it clearly has a yellow sticker on the back saying it's a region free player. It's plays DVDs from Japan, no problem. But for some reason it won't play my UK Blu Ray disc. A message pops up about Gracenote when I load it. It tries to connect to update Gracenote, can't and won't play. I'm going to follow your advice and get a region free blu ray player from Amazon for downstairs. But I'm curious why my disc won't play upstairs. Thanks.

IS THERE A DVD SHRINK FOR BLU-RAY ???
Can someone confirm whether PS3’s and PS4’s from North America will play Region Free 3D blu ray discs? I am getting conflicting information on this. I know that in the video North American blu ray players can play region free discs, but I have seen on different message forums that PS3 and PS4 still will not play these discs. I don’t want to buy another bloody blu ray player. I have more blu ray players than I can shake a stick at. This is exactly why people give up and start downloading everything by any means.

I have questioned I buying dvd ang b-ray dis here in Italy but here was region 2 in dvd and the blue ray dis region b .I have lots of blockbusters old and new movies and want to bring in my country in Philippines in my country region 3 dvd and c for the blue ray dis and the electrical connection is 60hz if I buy blue ray region free player in amason Italy is guaranteed working in my country? The most important aspect of a region-free BluRay player is to have the hardware ability to force the region to a specific region, even if you have it on automatic under normal conditions. Some discs might not play with automatic settings, this is an old thing from the DVD era. The good thing with BluRay is that region locked discs, boxset etc. is not as common as it was with DVD and with 4k BluRay I do not even know if they care about regions any more. Always make sure you buy a hardware region free BluRay player as it is better than region free with software codes etc.

So you can’t just buy a regular UBK80 and assume it’s a region free player that is not how it works, you should watch thee entire review on the LG UBK80 region free player review I did on my channel it explains why you have to buy from specific companies and the Amazon Links I have in the description section under each video. There are only certain companies that make the players region free they don’t regularly come that way from the manufacturer. BDP S6700 BR player which seems to be only Region A, and I want to know if it can play a Region Free Bluray disc. I know the Bluray player is not Region Free but the BD disc is, so will there be any problem with that?? Thanks :)

I was looking at the Sony ubp-x700 region free blu-ray player and Amazon third party stores wanted $300 to $450 for the player but the same player which plays region A only is $180 at Best Buy. How come the region free blu-ray player is so expensive for the same model? Thank you
I talk about this a lot in my other region free video about region free Blu day players. You are basically paying for the companies that upgrade and install chips & software to modify a Blu Ray player to be region free. I have several I recommend at great prices listed in the description section under each video with links for each one. I have several region free players I use and 1 of them is a very expensive region free Blu ray player Panasonic UB820 that cost me $800 to get it as region free player but it has been worth the upgrade. ive got a All Region Free Bluray and dvd player but its says Region B only for Blurays UK Not USA But it dose play most of the Region1 dvds so far no problem there had it since last Christmas and it been ok so far playing dvds i got a Region A Bluray a Elvis film and it played it so not understanding why it says Region B Tonight i brought my self a All Region 4K Bluray player that plays them all thinking about putting the Region B one in the bed room and 4K in the living room i think theses are much better than a dvd player i do have a couple of Region A Blurays and there work fine

A PS3 can hacked to be used as a region free dvd/bluray player too.
Absolutely, I was about to mention this. It worked for me and it saved my live. Don't need to open your PS3 or anything.

So I have a question. If I were to factory reset my region free blu ray player would it still be a region free blu ray player if that makes sense?
So I am not sure if I can give you an exact answer because I have no idea if your region free player you are using is a software region free player or a hardware installed region free player. So there are 2 types of region free players and that will make a big difference on what the results will be if you do a hard factory reset. So to try and give my best answer for you I would say don’t do it because you run the risk of losing the region free status of your player. @@InSearchofPhysicalMedia It is from 220 Electronics so probably hardware and it's an LG UBKM9. The main issue is that mine turns on after I turn it off it's weird but it gets annoying after a few times of doing it. I tried to think of every solution to try and fix it, hell even just using the power save feature and it turns off after like 15 minutes of no use but it turns on even then. The last resort I am thinking is to just to a factory reset but again I'm worried this will mess up the region free part. Sorry for the long winded explanation haha.

I don’t use digital copies, if you watched any of my videos,, I only collect physical media not any form of digital that is the whole purpose of my entire UA-cam channel is dedicated to collecting physical media worldwide. So I deal with physical copies and getting physical region free players for discs.

Hello, well is clear that all the BD/DVD players are multi region hardware capable and are sofware locked for someone region. There are very internet sites where teach how be free of DVD region, but very few or anyone to do for BD free region or thats leave doubts. For example, for some brand says how to change BD region trhougt the software of the player, but no is clear about if have a some kind of limitations to do it as the fives changes that you can do it whit some software at PC. I supose that maybe exist some BD extra region like the DVD region for use in airlines or to DVD free, and surely maybe that be using the dealers that buy players region free, but keep deeply secret.
You talk about Europe, USA an Australia but not about Latin America, realy are region A but not all NTSC color sistem, Brazil is M-PAL, and Argentina and Uruguay
N-PAL and we receive all the optical discs in NTSC but no troubled because the TV sets bougth at the three countries can conmutes aitomaticaly between the local norm and color system and M-NTSC, and obviously using HDMI cable no cable even if the player no converts color sistem (pre decoded) or scan frecuency because TV set would be self adapt to it ( eclectic necesary adaptation to be between two worlds).
All my DVD players was DVD free,
and my two BD players I do DVD free with a code number learn from internet, surely must exist a code for do BD region free too, but I don't know it, I search for it, but I don't find it. There are not more new firmware for its, if I known the code for do BD region free no change back.
If there is someone that knows these codes surely won't put on internet, must be job be service region free.
