As a fellow sound nerd with ADHD, listening to this guy feels fun and somehow relaxing. It's like every tangent, every joke, every unnecessary qualifier or explanation, it's like he's catching little frayed thoughts in my head. Weirdly satisfying.
kids are so lucky now days..i remember watching almost every yt tutorial back around 2012-2016 when i was in middle school/high school on sound design mixing, etc. now they got patreons tutorials from literally legends like virtual riot, koan sound, noisia, etc..
44:47 I notice a lot of the time when I’m adding noise like this to my basses and other stuff, it fills out the top end too much to where my hi hats are getting buried and my high end sounds way to harsh altogether. Trying to get better at eq’ing and creating pockets in the my high end for my hats and top percussion. Shits daunting 😢
Pretty sure Shaperbox3 can use audio as a trigger now too, so it kinda beats out kickstart in terms of flexibility without any of the old downsides, besides maybe taking a bit more time to set up
Yep. Basically just depends on whether you need to customise that much. Also has anyone tested the phase friendliness of the band splitting in Shaperbox 3?
@COPYCATT haven't noticed anything yet, though I haven't put it through any rigorous testing. Did a 3 band split on a pretty clean sub with a very subby kick and it didn't cause any problems that I noticed. But I am an audio expert, ya know? So maybe I just didn't hear it 😜
that harmonic phase shift trick @ 11:30 has literally been passed down from copycatt verbally through the indie SC/bass producer scene for generations and now the sauce is finally public 😂😂
Brilliant. There should be mouse click highlights he goes so fast. Keep having to scrub back to see what he's doing half the time. Turned into a 3hr vid.
Hey, at 29:20, does anyone know how he has the Oscillator Wave in Operator, auto cycling through Sq8, Sq16, amd Sq32? Seems links its follow a random LFO, but we never see him add one, nor is one in the channel ?!?!
I have no idea how that happened but I did have a bunch of LFO_Random instances in that project so I might have left one on mapped and that parameter just happened to be the next thing I clicked. Also M4L shit is just glitchy sometimes
you must forge it for yourself. it’s just a rack with 2 OTTs and a digital clip on the end. Map the two crossover sliders, the amount, and the time to macros and then map the band output volumes and the drive knob on the saturator to macros and that’s pretty much it.
without needing all the external processing you can make that First "honk" in serum by FM'ing a 7th harmonic into the first oscillator, by like 38% (FM From B). Or, OSC A alongside OSC B with Basic Shapes on both, Adding a Sync to OSC B at 7% (Creating Seven Peaks) Then Asymmetrical Distortion at Drive and Amount at 50% and adding an LFO to the Filter/Envelopes for movement to the sound. *Follow for more tips lol

just got this in my recc and you're already here hahahaha, sick
Yes yes yes yes
I've been listening to this guy since he released ITSUM, amazing to see how far he's come and it's inspiring to see the way he does things

The delay sidechain technique is like the thing I have been looking for. Thank you for sharing this you beautiful bastard.

i legit thought you were alone in the first 5 minutes of the video which made your jokes 10 times funnier
tthe 4ms delay on the drums is wild work. gonna have to try that out
It's hard to find quality content about Sound Design. Glad I found this channel
Cooycatt is amazing. Incredible sound designer!! Love his music. Years ago he had a reminiscent style to Grynpyret (the true bass music prodigy)
On the topic of sidechain - shaperbox 3 now let’s you use audio as a sidechain trigger and you can add up to 4ms shift to the trigger.
I've been a huge fan for the longest time, I love all your music. Keep doing what you're doing! And thanks for uploading this video! 🔥💜💯👽✨👌
This was insanely good and inspiring. Thanks guys
Good teacher good respect
Great little nuggets in here thanks for sharing
Such a dope presentation. Love this

shaperbox3 is the goat
@@dylanreed4146 you’re right. i use audio triggers with it very often
Ye, with this for sure. And also save your presets so it doesn't take so long to set up again!

Im more and more convinced that this weird/experimental side of electronic music is absolutely dominated by neurodivergent dudes xdd
I kind of wish the "Transformers on crack" style bass died with brostep, nice one nonetheless!
