About the Echo Watch: it’s already available - it’s called the Fitbit Versa 2. Granted, it’s a fitness tracker first and an Alexa device second, but it’s fairly close.
The video links here appear to be broken, they all seem to be truncated and show "Video unavailable" when you click on them. The ones in the video description seem to be fine.

Paul is Hilarious but so are many other people who are not such muppets at times. Several times now Paul has accused people of having no Balls for getting an Electrician in to install a switch instead of doing it themselves. Has he and other people ever considered that some people may have no choice because they are not tall enough to reach maybe don't have the eyesight etc. And i can assure you these people do have balls.
I'll admit that the whisper mode is really useful for me because I use alexa lot & I don't want to go analogue whenever my son has a nap or it's late at night. Though I clicker would be very cool.
Paul, I love your presenting style, you make me giggle every week, screw the trolls, they need a life anyway. Keep it up. P.S. I also use Philips Hue so I'm not perfect... 😁

There is an Orbi Voice, from Netgear, which is an optional "satellite" for their Orbi wifi mesh system. This one, the voice, has a Harman Kardon speaker that has Alexa built in.
@@oaguilarm I know! But the Orbi Voice is way more expensive than an Echo speaker so if Amazon could make an Echo speaker with wifi mesh-extender it would sure be less expensive then an Netgear Orbi Voice ( I own myself a regular Netgear Orbi system and am very content with it)
Great ideas, most of which I've been wondering about. One additional thought. The ability to not only customize her name, but to incorporate voice recognition as a security feature so no one else can countermand your orders. Having Alexia to recognize only the family's voices would make for better security all around. Have a good week.
May need to relocate the microphone if you have a plug obscuring the mic. Other than that, this should of been on V1 release. Amazon need to do more research before release. Too quick to jump on the cash train.

I think the wake word needs to have enough oomph to decipher from normal noise. 'Geoff' to an echo maybe as little as a kids cough and its triggered. You might as well call it Hal and let it suck the air out of your room for being jealous of your partner 😉
Before Alexa existed my UA-cam channel made videos about my Windows based Voice assistant which I had named "Alexander". I wonder where Amazon got their name from 🤔
Awesome and funny as always, Paul! Here's something to make 2 of your ideas reality (by the way, the link you posted above for the Alexa watch is broken): 1) There's an app in the Play Store called "listens for Alexa " that will sync to any Android watch running Wear OS 2.0, and 2) an app called "reverb" duplicates an Echo on your phone and also has "always listen" as an option in the settings. The wakeup phrase is "OK, reverb...call my boss a git ". Oh, wait...maybe not that last part! 🤪
Also about the male voice...as much as I like the default, I'd throw money at Amazon if they got Paul Bettany to do the male one. Give me JARVIS I've been waiting since Iron Man 1 damnit. lol
Not being in the US, there are a couple of these that have been made you might not have seen. Ecobee makes a switch with Alexa built in but they're pretty expensive and Amazon made "dash" buttons and gave them away essentially for free with the single use functionality of ordering a product. The use is not programmable but they've physically made this thing exactly and people have hacked them for extra functionality. Also, it's not your fault this looks like a kids show, you spent all those years starring in Blue's Clues.
😲 I can't believe this switch exists and I don't already know about it! I've just realised though that they'll 100% need a Neutral wire at the switch which almost no UK home has :( I just looked up Blues Clues presenters, and I was like "what's he on about I look nothing these peo... Oh there I am." 🤣🤣🤣
Love your presenting style - funny, thoughtful, knowledgeable, cute - LOL! Nice one, mate. BTW, sorry, but I love Alexa's whispering voice. Sorta creepy, like the two of you have a secret that no one else is in on.
Best video I’ve watched from your channel for a long time! As a long time Echo user with a house full of Amazon devices, I would still buy every one of the things that you described...👍🏻
Mr socky (tm) is NOT for sale to Amazon! 😂 I'll be making my own AI sock. You'll say "socky, what's the weather like" and he'll reply "look out of the window you f*cking nerd!".
Paul I only recently found your channel and have been watching all your output, which is a joy, only problem is not every episode includes ooooh the zigbee. Keep up the good work: sorry keep up the brilliant work!!
I finished up giving my Alexa away because, as someone with a mild stammer, I couldn't use any of the wake-up words effectively! All 3 of the possible words start with the vocals I find tricky. That's definitely a trick Amazon missed, yet I'd bet it would be so easy to implement in an update.
Another awesome video Paul! Keep it up mate love these ideas especially the light switch think your really onto something there! Still debating buying the flic system with the hub just bought the 5 camera blink system gonna set it up tomorrow
Another great video! Some great ideas there. Amazon have all the tech to do all of this. I am also still amazed you cant add a custom wake word to their devices, speech recognition is so good now it shouldnt be hard!
1- The ability to set a default volume that the devices return to after a set period of time so when I say “ Alexa” at 3am it doesn’t wake the entire street 2- A face ( like Eve from Wall-E) on the echo shows just for fun 3- the ability to track my movement through the house so if I’m listening to one device but move to a new room it will continue in there. 4- An echo with a built in battery so I can take it to the garden or parks. I connected one to a power bank and took it to a park. It was actually really useful 5- a goodnight mode that turns everything off ( this probably exists but I can’t make it work).
Gotta say, since getting an echo dot....well ok 2.... I actually do whisper to mine at 4AM when I get up for work to turn off the sleep sounds skill. Saves me waking the missis. Im sure there will be another way to do it but I'm ok with whispering at her ;)
Sonos does do 5.1. If you have a Sonos soundbar (I have a Beam), you can set a couple of Play Ones or whatever as your rear speakers. If you're rich, you can add the sub too.
Great Vid as usual - I'm a big fan of smart stuff and honestly I can't agree with you more about these new things that should be available. I hope that in the near future the 'big players' will actually make a common 'standard' preferably with mixed technologies (Z wave, Zigbee, WiFi, 433Mhz, IR, etc.). Our house currently not 'smart' any more because I failed the WAF.
It's a shame Amazon discontinued the Amazon Tap, which was a battery-powered Echo. At the time they introduced it, I think it confused people and it was quite expensive (around $170). You can now find it occasionally for around $30 on Woot! and it's a great device. I have seen that Amazon is rolling out a battery-powered Dot in India that is supposed to eventually be available in other markets.
Fantastic ideas! For me the talking to Alexa in the car is a major bugbear for me. I was hoping the Amazon auto would resolve this but doesn't look like we're going to get that in the UK anytime soon.
I also have the experience that Echo Cube understands commands very poorly, especially when the TV is on. But since a few weeks I have Echo Studio and have been muting the Echo Cube. Echo Studio understands every command, even when it plays loud sound. That alone is a reason to keep it, even if I don't hear 3D audio.
The echo flex plug is a great idea but I think it needs a movement sensor and light as well all in one for the ultimate if this then that options, but also should have a mute button too
Brilliant video. Thank you Paul. You’ve actually answered a question I was thinking of asking you.......if I install a new router with the same name and password as my existing, will everything be fooled into thinking it’s the same. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I only have 10 Alexi and about 70-ish lights, 4 cameras, a thermostat, and an alarm with 8 sensors. I was terrified of changing my router. Actually, I still am, but at least you’ve confirmed what I hoped.
An in ceiling echo dot. Discrete smart wifi speakers that are powered by main line power. Could go above a shower or even covered patio areas. Best of all, true dolby atmos when paired with stereo echo studios.
ooooh, i like these ideas :o i especially like the wifi extender idea, so it doesn't clogg your main wifi and connect one echo to another, and so on. This is some-what what I ended up doing with a TP-Link wifi extender, connected everything to it but at some point the signal some times doesn't reach that one echo all the way in the bathroom or those lights outside.
Great stuff. Always check each Saturday to see what you have posted. I wish Amazon would make a speaker that fits between the Echo and the Echo Studio. I love the sound of the Echo Plus, but sometimes I would like it to thump a bit more. The Studio is just too big and ugly. I hope they make the Plus more like the Homepod, which is where I am currently leaning.
Hi I'm new to home automation. I had hive installed then thought, oh, let's do some more clever wireless things around the house. Love watching your videos. At the time of your recording you said echo flex missed an opportunity to have modular additions so that it could have a motion sensor and night light attached. You may already be aware of this one but I have discovered a combined motion sensor and night light for the echo flex. It's called MoKo smart PIR night light sensor. I still have yet to set it up and get going with it. Fingers crossed it's as simple as it should be. One other thing that is concerning me I have hive installed and you don't seem to mention it. What are your viewed on it? I have also bought a few hive bulbs and I'm wondering weather to continue with that or move into something else. I like the idea of Hubitat. Especially as I'm not keen on monthly subscription to ifttt. I'm still figuring out if I will need multiple hubs or weather I would need to replace my existing hub. One final thing. Is it only the devil's lighting system that can be controlled as a multi coloured disco or is there a way of controling hive and other coloured lights in disco fashion. Many thanks 👍
Hey Paul, just a question. You spoke about pairing... Is it possible to listen to my phone /computer audios on both echo dot and echo at the same time, for example in the multiroom? I've put both my devices in multiroom group but it seems to only work with the music Alexa plays, and not my tracks on my phone or what ever else is paired via Bluetooth. Thanks a million
Hi Paul, some fantastic ideas! Apologies I've borrowed some of yours. I've got loads and loads more... Amazon coffee cup, tells Alexa when it's too hot or cold. Uses a heated one of those things from mini fridges, uses the effect when you put voltage in one side one gets hot one gets cold. Already exists can do better Smart rings, seen a few. You can get so many options then license out the tech. Simple RFID or a git big one with GPS etc Leads nicely on to a smart Amazon watch with Alexa Smart light switch, sits over your existing one. Also has Alexa, a small screen. Already have the tech, neutrals or lack of in UK light switches cause a minor issue. Fibraro have got around it, just buy them  Smart button Blinds / motors for your front room. Just rip of IKEA Flex, make the flex be able to control the USB sockets and front main power via voice. Strip lights with addressable RGB, they'll grab the market if they can come in for £30 dollar or less
@Paulhibbert The switch you speak of already exists. Ecobee makes it. It’s like a Echo with motion sensors, night light, manual on/off switch, and very attractive, for a wall switch. Can’t wait to see your review of it. It has been around for about a year now and I own 2 of them.
The return of Mr Sock. Love it. Seriously though, some great ideas if only the brains at Amazon would pay attention. Beyond home entertainment, I'm sure there are lots of ways a smart assistant could be embedded in things to help the hearing or sight impaired for instance - that would be a good use of the tech available.
Great ideas hopefully they will be watching Have you done any reviews on WiFi extenders or Mesh systems I have looked in your back catalogue ( oo Matron ) lol and can’t see any
I think the one they should have added from the get go, but won't because they want you to use their steaming services , is a MP3 player with a USB socket for flash drives loaded with MP3s. I used to be able to simulate this when you could upload your own MP3s to your Amazon music collection, but they stopped that when I had only uploaded about a dozen tracks. I now use MyMedia, which does the job very well but involves having a computer running 24-7 to support it.
Oh my god yes, my whole house now is practically Alexa enabled apart from my cats. And I have the Samsung sport watch but the damn Alexa app is obviously third party and all these apps lag. You may as well pull out your phone and run the Alexa app. AMAZON GIVE US A DAMN WATCH
Another brilliant video and I agree with everything you said Paul. What would be good.. An AUX input into the alexas so we can use it as the main soundbar... Instead it's all AUX out to other speakers... I don't want that, I want to strap my TV and dvd to my alexas in the lounge and listen to it in stereo... But nope.. No can do..
In the US or where I live the Echo TV can change the channel. Once you tell it your service provider you can ask for the channel by name and it will turn to that channel or you can say a number.
You missed one for the Echo Flex II... why did they not put a USB on the bottoms of the plug in accessories? So you can stack the IR sensor AND the night light etc! That would give you so many more options.
Maaan, your ideas are awesome specially the one for speakers I think, would love to see both companies Amazon and Google do stuff like that. Love your videos and photoshops, keep going 👍
My Saturday morning is complete, just bought some ceiling speakers , and about to attach echo flex for better sound 👍 cheers as always. Sing happy birthday to me Paul 51 and still trying to keep up with ya buddy🤣🤣
I know you made this video some time ago but your comment about an Alexa watch has made me want one 😂💷💷, I found one for an awesome price and thought it might be cool if you reviewed it and other Alexa powered watches encouraging me to buy tech I don't need but want 😂. Anyway the watch I was looking at is the Amazfit Verge. Keep up the good work 👍
Great video Paul with some top ideas that I suspect will be spotted by our pals at Amazon (there's probably one or two of their techs alreday subscribed to your channel) ;-). Would be good to see a video to see what you did to make the 3 speaker setup with the Echos .....
Certainly like the make-up-your-own-wakeword idea - I'd use ORAC. (Anyone else old enough to remember Blake's 7?) Also the ability to use different wakewords on each device, to stop the overhearing problem - in some parts of the house two devices wake when I address her and it's a toss-up if the right one will act. Keep up the Good Work - I've just subscribed.
Three things I want from Alexa. 1. Ability to have devices using same name and routines of same name. Eg in bedroom 1 have a device called table lamp. In bedroom 2 also have a device called table lamp. If the echo in bedroom 1 hears me say "turn on lamp" it knows I mean the one in that room. It does this for the global turn on/off lights but not for individual items. 2. Multiple conditions in routines (if, else and or) eg if I say "Open garage door" if a sensor indicates the garage door is open it won't activate the garage switch and say garage door already open. If a, sensor indicates the garage door is close it activates the garage switch.
I'm with you 100% on the idea of giving your smart devices a name of choice. It's a big problem if you have someone called Alexa in your family, and Ok Google can be quite difficult to pronunciate. Never could understand why this can't be done.
I agree that smart devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google assistant products should have customizable wake words, but if you can't pronunciate OK Google, what about hey Google?
Amazon had the dash button. Could easily modify that to be an echo click. Maybe they just have too much focus on voice. The trouble with the WiFi extender idea is how it would communicate with your existing router to get the details. It can't mesh with a device not designed to mesh. A good idea in theory, but just has some technical issues implementing it. I think with most Echo devices you can set to a couple of wake words, like Computer. You can't do that with Google at all. You're stuck with "Hey Google" 🙂 I do think the 5.1 sound system is a brilliant idea. That would be really serious competition for the soundbar market
For Echo Click concept, they kinda already had this with Amazon Dash Button IoT. I have seen many people hack these, but Amazon is now killing off this product. They should make all of them universal and incorporate ordering into a customizable routine.
Myself, I love your personality and the tone(ha!) of your videos! (Yeah, the Myself is oddly worded but I didn't want to use "person*" twice) And I love the way you deal with trolls. Don't change! ... Except maybe think about getting away from cloud-based services for your IOT devices :)
Do you know a smart plug that has a remote/button that allows you to turn it on and off with the remote/button and with the Alexa app while also not needing a smart hub? I have an echo plus. And everything I find that fits that description needs extra things.

Another great video! Some great ideas there. Amazon have all the tech to do all of this. I am also still amazed you cant add a custom wake word to their devices, speech recognition is so good now it shouldnt be hard!
Love your videos Paul, always make me laugh and they're informative too. On that note, Mr Socky with android baked in would be awesome......🤣
Some great ideas here Paul! More Mr Socky! Regards, Leo.
It’s scary that you have such great ideas. I think all of them are something Amazon should consider.
I just subscribed.
Your "hey Granma" triggered my Google Home speaker, I swear!
1- The ability to set a default volume that the devices return to after a set period of time so when I say “ Alexa” at 3am it doesn’t wake the entire street
2- A face ( like Eve from Wall-E) on the echo shows just for fun
3- the ability to track my movement through the house so if I’m listening to one device but move to a new room it will continue in there.
4- An echo with a built in battery so I can take it to the garden or parks. I connected one to a power bank and took it to a park. It was actually really useful
5- a goodnight mode that turns everything off ( this probably exists but I can’t make it work).
How can anyone comlain about your personality? You are one of the funniest tech reviewers there are.
Thanks man!! I guess some people just have no sense of humour! 😜
Gotta say, since getting an echo dot....well ok 2.... I actually do whisper to mine at 4AM when I get up for work to turn off the sleep sounds skill. Saves me waking the missis. Im sure there will be another way to do it but I'm ok with whispering at her ;)
I love your Alexa watch idea!
Funfact: Fitbit "smart watches" have Alexa integrated, but considering Google bought them.... Uuuuh.....
You're hilarious dude! love the take you have on smart homes tech. Don't let the haters change you fam!
I laughed out loud with the glasses "you look like a complete moron" 😂😂😂
Absolutely amazing ideas that Amazon should definitely make. They have the power in their hands
Love the light switch idea. Would give me Alexa in each room and be practical. Also stop the need for hue lights. 👍👍
11. An echo Link Amp with multiple RCA inputs, manual source selection and support for Amazon UHD music, oh and a remote control.
The echo flex plug is a great idea but I think it needs a movement sensor and light as well all in one for the ultimate if this then that options, but also should have a mute button too
Another great video and always makes me laugh ! Oh and more Mr Socky please 😜
Some excellent ideas Paul.
Already exists can do better
Smart rings, seen a few. You can get so many options then license out the tech. Simple RFID or a git big one with GPS etc
Leads nicely on to a smart Amazon watch with Alexa
Smart light switch, sits over your existing one. Also has Alexa, a small screen. Already have the tech, neutrals or lack of in UK light switches cause a minor issue. Fibraro have got around it, just buy them
Smart button
Blinds / motors for your front room. Just rip of IKEA
Flex, make the flex be able to control the USB sockets and front main power via voice.
Awesome ideas I'd litteraly buy them all, apart from the phone.
14:33 "Ok Google. Lame! Lame! Shut up bitch."
My Google, "Ok, I'll do my best."
😂😆
The return of Mr Sock. Love it. Seriously though, some great ideas if only the brains at Amazon would pay attention. Beyond home entertainment, I'm sure there are lots of ways a smart assistant could be embedded in things to help the hearing or sight impaired for instance - that would be a good use of the tech available.
Great ideas hopefully they will be watching
Have you done any reviews on WiFi extenders or Mesh systems I have looked in your back catalogue ( oo Matron ) lol
and can’t see any
I think the one they should have added from the get go, but won't because they want you to use their steaming services , is a MP3 player with a USB socket for flash drives loaded with MP3s.
You know there's a new Amazon Feline anal echo?
I set the Bixby button to ask Alexa with a long press. That works perfectly.
@@johnlochness haha that would be useful
@@VincentVegas64 thanks for this!
great episode, always funny but smart
I love love all your videos they help me and make me laugh at the same time thank u 😊🤣❤️
Hi Paul , I know you have touched on the home studio hub but can you go into detail ie how to connect up to it. Thanks Ray.
I just come for the kids tv show...lol, great as always mate, all valid points.
😂
Mr Socky now has merch! 🤣 teespring.com/new-mr-socky?tsmac=store&tsmic=paul-hibbert-apparel&pid=387&cid=101865
Paul totally agree with all of these brilliant video
Insightful and side-splitting. Kid gloves are off! Keep it up
Totally agree with this Paul
Good video
It would be amazing to say “Jarvis turn on the lights” also love the channel man funny bloke
Certainly like the make-up-your-own-wakeword idea - I'd use ORAC. (Anyone else old enough to remember Blake's 7?)
Also the ability to use different wakewords on each device, to stop the overhearing problem - in some parts of the house two devices wake when I address her and it's a toss-up if the right one will act.
Keep up the Good Work - I've just subscribed.
Hey Paul, Could you please do a video with your thoughts on Sharptools? from what I've seen it looks like IFTTT but with more features.
Oh and hurry up and get to 100k subs already, well deserved
So Paul you used an you want to use Echo Pairing to make a 2.1 sound system?????
Wait ... this isn't a kid's tv show?
Paul, I hope you and Jeff will be really happy together. 👍
This is such a good video. So funny, all the way through.
The watch thing is pure Awesomeness.
You're stuck with "Hey Google"
🙂
I do think the 5.1 sound system is a brilliant idea. That would be really serious competition for the soundbar market
For Echo Click concept, they kinda already had this with Amazon Dash Button IoT. I have seen many people hack these, but Amazon is now killing off this product.
They should make all of them universal and incorporate ordering into a customizable routine.
@paul Hibbert I got the echo buds on your recommendation when they cut the price. Love em using them while watching your video.
