Dairy cows are forcibly bred/raped every year so they will produce milk. Cows are very maternal,they cry and grieve for weeks after their babies have been stolen from them. I’ve been waiting so long for a rescue story where a mom finally gets to keep and raise her baby. It is a symbol for healing after soo much trauma done to the race of cows from man. How long has she waited to be able to hum “I am here” to her baby rather than bellowing in grief for the ones that weren’t there to nurse her milk before?

I live next to a dairy farm and I hate calving season, the mums and babies cry for each other and watching the farmer literally throwing a newborn calf into a trailer just hours after it’s birth with the mother trying to stop him from taking her baby, you can tell the young mothers, they still run after the trailer, the older ones just watch as their newborns are thrown away.. a never ending cycle of fear and pain. All this horror so we can drink milk.
I stopped consuming dairy when I read that babies are taken from their mothers, organic or conventional farming. The mother cows mourn their lost babies and the newborns never get cared for by their moms.
You know what a rescue cow is right? One that doesn't profit the rancher. If you eat meat, you support the suffering of these beautiful intelligent animals.

Valentino, being a male calf, would have been taken from his mom if she were still at the farm. Males are sold for veal or cheap beef, sometimes within hours of being born.

Cows live to be around 20 years, but the average Dairy Cow is killed between the ages of 3-6 years of age. On farms; males go to veel farms or are killed at birth. Dairy Cows are impregnated yearly and never get to raise their calf. So that makes this story extremely special! Not only did Charlotte find a rescue, not only did she survive until 10 on the farm, not only did she get to be a mother, but also her male calf is getting to live! This goes against everything on a farm and it's so nice to see for her!
The 'life' Charlotte suffered before she was rescued is so people can have their dairy products. We can live without causing such suffering, many choose not to though - so sad!

How amazing that these people gave new life to this cow and she was able to then give the love her calf needed to it.
