We've got 2 more videos in this series (#11 Systems and #12 Hiring)! I hope that it has been helpful to anyone who's looking to start or has recently started a security guard company. It's tough but totally doable with the right strategies! Good luck!
I know what you mean. Unfortunately, there are lots of companies who've been stuck with just 1 customer because they've been unable to "escape" their first customer. It's tough to work a post and grow your business. But there was a time that I worked a post and worked the office. How I did it was by working 2 doubles (0700 - 2300) on Sat and Sun so I could get back in the office on Monday morning. 😅We do what we have to do.
This is very important for the new year being able to make sure that the best way to get the best way is to have Insurance in your own Employees so that Payroll is always Funded.
So if you get a contract that’s when you start recruiting to avoid working it yourself? Also how does subcontracting work in terms of pricing and what the subcontractor is required to do?
I would actually start recruiting BEFORE you get the contract. The biggest mistake that you can make is getting the wrong person on the contract. Start recruiting and get a long list of people that you'd like to work with. I know, it will be a little uncomfortable telling people that you don't have a contract yet. But it's better being uncomfortable before you get the contract, instead of being uncomfortable in a room with your client after one of your employees has done something not too smart. If you are going to be subcontracting, those terms are worked out case-by-case. The subcontractor will need to fill all the requirements that the prime has to fill. The prime wins a bid based on the proposal and security plan that they present, so the subcontractor would also be required to meet the requirements.
Great question. I believe both are required. Your website is a place for prospective customers to learn more about you while social media gives you a voice and is what sends people to your website. I hope that makes sense.
I am a new security guard company owner living and operating in Trinidad and Tobago, do you think your security guard monitoring system will work here?
@@Officerreports I have been watching your videos and was actually planning another go, but just this morning was offered the job of a lifetime as a security director in Boca Raton, Florida! Super hyped about the opportunity, but will never live down the regret of shutting down my first company :(
CONGRATS David! There are many paths to get where you want or need to be. Let's keep in touch...and if you need security guard management software as the new security director don't forget about us. :-D
Unfortunately, I don't do mentorships for companies in the security guard industry because of the conflict of interests. I'd definitely be open to talking you through any questions that you might have.

Dang. Number 1 was the toughest thing for me to deal with my first year.

Dude, which state are you in? This is really good info.
Thanks! Started in Illinois and now in Louisiana!
Wrong an owner should work a post to better understand what is needed on that post

Any Templates on sales pitch
Unfortunately, no templates on a sales pitch but we'll think about doing a video on the topic.
I really wish this video was out in 2010 when I started my first security company. I may have been able to save it :(
Sorry to hear that David. Managing a security guard company is a TOUGH job. Ever think about trying it again?

Can you be my mentor please?

Informative minus the toilet flushing in each video.
LOL! It's one of our favorite b-roll clips. But we'll take it into advisement. 😋
The best part of being a security guard is knowing one day you will no longer be a security guard.
Some people turn it into a career, so I don't know about that. :-)
