The narration of this story together with the soundtrack explains what at first is the devastation after the volcanic eruption. And in a second the beauty that is perceived despite the desolation:
Art revisited By Sergio Aranda from hi's several visits to the Canary's Island. Abstract art is a reinterpretation of reality, images or ideas that the artist Sergio Aranda processes and offers us through his paintings contemporary works, with texture and great strength.

This work is inspired by the magic island of Lanzarote, in The Spanish Canary's Island. A volcanic land, also the place where César Manrique, born April 24, 1919 in Arrecife and died September 25, 1992 in Tahiche, was a Spanish painter, architect and sculptor, defender of the nature of his native island, Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, who influenced the image of the volcanic island decisively.
For Sergio Aranda, also Spanish and visual artist, this Island is very special, his work is very inspired by this wonderful land. The similarity between his work and the Canary island that offer its landscapes, due to the multiple textures resulting of the severals volcanic's eruptions and devastation during all the history and construction of the island, the textures and the colors that the volcanic island of Lanzarote offers. The colors: black, ocher, brow, burtn umber, siena, and the sky that changes from blue to gray and white due to the amount of clouds that there are almost daily. Sergio Aranda is also inspired by urbex and decay. and this unique place in the world is the result of all the images that he revisit to make his abstract art.
Coming back with an image of something that has caught my attention, that creates an emotion in me to reinterpret it and create a painting.
Lanzarote was blown up on September 1, 1730. Many terrified islanders fled with just what they were wearing, while their world exploded and burned. Volcanic eruptions and earthquakes followed each other with violence over six long years and devastated some thirty neighborhoods. The lava covered the cereal fields, devastated the grazing areas, devastated the areas dedicated to the harvest of orchilla (lichen from which a purple dye is obtained), melted the coal deposits of gorse or tarajal...
Dozens of scoria cones rose in the west of the island, while a sea of lava covered 174 km2 of territory. In the Fire Mountains alone, where the most important eruptions were recorded, 25 craters emerged. The local population escaped to Fuerteventura or to other regions of Lanzarote.
When the Earth seemed to settle down, some intrepid islanders returned and tried to get their routines back. They soon verified that the terrain covered by fragmented lava produced good harvests; unusually good. New population centers arose, inhabited by old neighbors and even by new settlers.

Qué bonito, Sergio. Qué bonito!! Ahí, en Lanzarote no he estado. Hace unos años estuve el La Palma y también en Tenerife. Para mi son lugares de ensueño. Lugares que ponen en comunicación la superficie de la Tierra con su interior. Por eso la Tierra susurra, a veces. Es bonito que plasmes en tu obra esa naturaleza, esta parte del planeta.
