Oh I am sooooo thankful that you made this video and uploaded it when you did! My husband and I are doing a major closet/ household declutter and I had put this very Victorian nightgown in our donation bag. I’ve had it for a long time, and never wear it to bed because it’s polyester and I don’t like sleeping in polyester. But it has ALL the ruffles, ruffles at the collar and ruffles at the sleeves. After watching this video, I ran and snatched it from the bag, literally as my husband was hauling donation bags out to the car, because after seeing this I realized it would be a PERFECT Ren Faire outfit if I layered a corset over it. It would be perfect for a steampunk or pirate outfit, and I can’t believe that I didn’t think if it before!
I’ve found looking in the Halloween section of thrift stores (when its that season…like now), is a fabulous place to find great Ren Faire type clothing. I just found two corsets! One is from Spirit Halloween, and is a pirate one, the other is a really nice mesh one from a higher end store! Paid $20 for both!
This was really helpful especially since my sister was suggesting going to a Ren Faire for her birthday. She did say she wanted to thrift items. Thanks!
This video is very helpful! The one issue i have is the word you used to describe the blouse at 20:27 , thats a slur used against Romani people and there are definitely other ways to describe it
So many great ideas. Thank you for this. I loved all the pictures. I loved that you actually took us to the bins and showed so many examples of so many things. Just such a great video.
I'm so glad you found it helpful!! I wish there were more videos of people picking and choosing things from the stores because that's always the hardest part!!!
Thrifting yes, definitely Thrifting …😶… totally not at all going through my hoard of stuff I won’t get rid of cause I might wear it someday clothes 😅 I mean technically 95% of it Was thrifted sooo 🤷🏻♀️ lol
they may call that part of your wardrobe your "fantasy self" clothes, (it's something like that) but I say wear the fantasy self clothes whenever because YOLO!!!
This is amazing, I'm planning to go to my first one and some items in my closet fit match some of these descriptions. I was brainstorming things I could layer together to narrow down what I might need as a finishing touch. Checking out the other video referenced!
I'm about to go to my first Ren fair and I will be going thrifting with a friend tomorrow, And while I do love the style and have seen many outfits put together, I wasn't sure where to start when putting an outfit together for me so thank you so much for making this great video! It was organised, Realistic and really helpful for a beginner! ✨
Great video! I’d love to see a “lookbook” of ideas for costuming when it’s 90+ degrees out 😅 Also, big shoutout to The Lady In Red , who was standing behind you, watching you film your haul, and looking like, “what the h*ll is she doing?” I’m a fan. 😂
Personally as a guy unfortunately most of this advice is for women or more feminine individuals and this is good advice for those people. I do thrift a lot of my medieval garb.
These are all really fun. I just wanted to pop in and please request everyone to discontinue the use of the word "g*psy". It's a slur for a Roma, a person of Romani descent. 🙏🙏🙏 Thanks for all these cool ideas and nice finds!
I agree I personally don’t like that word either. I don’t particularly like derogatory terms and I feel people should be mindful just because someone has freedom of speech doesn’t mean that people can offend people. It’s always better to be respectful and kind and express yourself in a respectful manner

Great vid, tomorrow I'll be attending my first Renaissance fair, I already went thrifting and I'm rewatching to have fresh ideas.
I go to one with bins as well I have had a lot of good luck with it

Love all your thrift finds!🖤
I also suggest developing simple sewing skills. It's amazing what alterations can be done with a bit of hand sewing.

I've never been to a Renaissance Faire, but I know I would love it! I just need to find someone who would like it too😅anyways, great ideas, as usual!
