  • Carp Fishing : Margin Float Fishing, Rigs, Baits and Tactics
    Carp fishing doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, float fishing in the margins offers some brilliant sport with carp of all sizes.
    In this video Duncan Charman and I visit Court Farm Fishery in Berkshire in search of carp in the margins on simple float tactics. Using slightly different tactics and baits we manage to catch some nice carp on a tough day when the Easterly winds and high air pressure really counted against us.
    As the day progresses opportunities to catch the carp up in the water present themselves and we make the most of it with a couple of opportunist captures.
    Float fishing in the margins is one of our favourite tactics for all sorts of species, and for carp it makes a great change from legering. By using stepped-up float tackle even specimen-sized carp can be tamed on float tackle from right under your feet!

    *These are very small, lightweightits **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they’re meant to use with the trout magnet 1/16 oz jigs however they also work great for fishing live bait. My son and I have caught crappie, blue gill, bass and catfish using these for various setups. You can fish slipit style or pinch you line between theit and the shaft for a non slip setup.*

    Paul, once back a bit of stick float fishing would be nice to see you and Duncan doing?

      Hi Richard, yes that's a good idea. To be honest, float fishing in general is something we want to cover more, but can be pretty difficult to film, but when things get back to normal we will have a go. Best wishes, Paul

    I wish it would show the water when you were fig in the fish instead of a cut then suddenly you catch a big carp

    Any tips on fishing the same style but in weed and silt? I’ve been researching pop up baits but find nothing about people using them on the float...is it a thing ?

      I have used boilies on a float and caught a small few but it wasn't as affective as I thought it would have been.. I have been more successful with worms on a float when it comes to carp

    Hi what test curve rod would you recommend for float fishing for perch when big carp are present? Thanks

    • @drpaulgarner
      @drpaulgarner  4 роки тому

      Hi Leighton, that's a difficult one, and something I've come up against in the past with everything from roach to tench. Obviously, you want to have a good chance of Landing any carp that you accidentally hook into, but without fishing too heavy that you reduce your chances of catching perch. I would go for something like a Power Float or Carp Float rod - these are not going to be too over-gunned for big perch, but will match up nicely with lines around 5-6lb, and enable you to put more pressure on a big carp. It's always going to be a bit of a compromise though. Cheers, Paul

      @@drpaulgarner hi thanks for the reply would a 1lb test cure Avon be ok for float fishing or would that be over gunned for float fishing for perch?
