Love this interview! Dick Van Dyke is so talented, funny and down to earth! He is a great actor. I am a longtime fan of both Rosie o'Donnell and Dick Van Dyke! Would love to meet them both in person someday soon!!
Ever since I was a little girl I've watched dick van dyke. I felt a connection because he had a child like spirit. He also reminds me of my dad which gives me more of a personal connection. He is my idol, and even though this is sad to talk about, but I'm going to cry my heart out when this man dies.😭
Watching this in January, 2024🤗 Dick Van Dike was born on the 13th of December, 1925, so he just turned 98 years old 💕 Love him a National Treasure 💟💙💜
Dick Van Dyke will be remembered by 3 things and THREE things ONLY. The Dick Van Dyke show, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and that's it. He should consider himself damn lucky.
@JuanMacready Chitty has proven itself to have every bit if not more longevity as Mary Poppins. The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are his biggest successes and what he'll be best remembered for.
Dick Van Dyke has gotta be one of my fave actors of all time he was born 13th December 1925 and said he was 72 so this was made either in 1997 or possibly 1998 (as his birthdays so late in the year) he's 86 this year omg!
Anyone notice that Rosey thought the clip she just played ("Supercalifragalistic") was from "Chitty Chitty"? After they talked about that scene, Rosey says her nephew sees it everyday with the flying car and the wings. And then she says "And what about 'Mary Poppins"? She says she's such a big fan but doesn't even recognize one of Disney's most famous songs.
@qwisp She knows the difference between Mary Poppins & Chitty Chitty. It's just that she didn't make it clear to Dick that it was Chitty she was talking about from the start and that was her son's favorite film. He thinks she's referring to Poppins all along and she's talking about Chitty. But yes, she didn't make it clear.
@oldschoolbrawlers, your comment is kind of odd. You really emphasize "ONLY" as if that's a big indictment on his career. Most actors never get known for anything. The fact that he was instrumental in 3 things that are considered entertainment legend makes for a fantastic career. It would be like putting down Julie Andrews by saying, "She will ONLY be remembered by two things and two things ONLY, Mary Poppins and Sound of Music. Big whoop!"
No but people change. People learn from they're mistakes. I used to be a terrible person and wouldn't go thru a day without getting mad. Now i think i'm a better person. If we had this conversation a few years ago i'd ignore your opinion and call you names, But i respect your opinion. I'm not trying to be preachy BTW.
Yeah, so did Kennedy and i think he was one of the better presidents. That's the thing that makes someone a better person...experience. How would a 3 year old know fire burns if he doesn't touch it?
Sounds like he was maybe a little challenging to work with, since he basically dodged both questions about his costars. The part where he and Rosie sing one of the songs from Chitty is missing.
Am I the only one who has an urge to give him a huge thank you hug for being so awesome?
I love him!
This man is a living legend. I could listen to him talk all day. Love him so much.
Thank you Dick Van Dyke for making my childhood magical
I like how her interviews are done in a good spirit and not looking for a gotcha moment to ambush or embarrass the guest.

The world would'nt be the same without DVD.
@JuanMacready Chitty has proven itself to have every bit if not more longevity as Mary Poppins. The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are his biggest successes and what he'll be best remembered for.

My two favorite non African American actors, Dick Van Dyke and the late great Bob Hope. Amazing personalities.
Aww, Dick. *loves*

Wow!! he doesnt look like he aged one bit!!
Sei sempre uguale sono la tua più grande ammiratrice
@JuanMacready if Chitty Chitty Bang Bang had forgettable songs how come I can still remember all the lyrics and I'm 25.
If he was 72 years old here, this interview was from 1997.
Rosie is talking about CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG and he's answering like it's MARY POPPINS questions
Ooh look, its Deek vun Doyk
isn't Rosie beautiful here?, where'd this girl go????
Wait what dick played the old man at the bank n Mary poppins!!!!???!? Wow I did t kno tht,I've seen tht movie a million times and had no clue!!

@RichardElden Lol! doesn't seem to have affected him much :P
Yeah, so did Kennedy and i think he was one of the better presidents.
That's the thing that makes someone a better person...experience. How would a 3 year old know fire burns if he doesn't touch it?
i am related 2 him
I don't know who he is but if he is a man that was bad that became good then i guess he could be.
Sounds like he was maybe a little challenging to work with, since he basically dodged both questions about his costars. The part where he and Rosie sing one of the songs from Chitty is missing.
@MrRobertJameson cool would make me 5
i had no idea he was the old man from the bank till now! i am ashamed...
There is no way in Hell he was 72!!!
Like what was he doing with that goldigger for so many years, not marrying her. She died recently.
"dick" van dyke
Why does it look like he's wearing a fake nose in this video XDD??
Those teeth are what everything is wrong about Hollywood teeth.
I get so sad when I see DVD. He had the truth & exchanged it for lies. My heart aches. I pray he returns to the true, living God.
worst actor
Hell no...I think he's so humble and so down to earth...fantastic actor
Hell no
